This is still my favorite Katy Perry song. She sounds great on it, and the lyrics aren't fluff.
"It's very appropriate to say "the f word" when "the f word" is needed." THAT IS VERY TRUE.
I can relate to every single lyric to this song. It's helped me through a tough breakup with an addict. New respect for Katy, she's amazing.
She's a useless, toxic person that doesn't know how to communicate to a friend that has depression and needed support at the time. She is not a savior, she's the villain.

This song wasn’t my favorite, but now that I am going through this, omg I’ve been sleeping on this song this whole time. Dealing with someone with addiction is so hard. I just hope I’m able to move out and move on SOON.

So true I was like 7 when she released it and now I’m 19 and I had a toxic relationship it’s crazy how much I related to it.
This song was my most pleasant surprise on the album. Hearing it for the first time, I was struck by the subject matter being probably the most weighty on the entire record, and it even has the pop rock sound that was one of my favorite aspects of her first album One of the Boys. 0:57 It's nice to see she seemed fully aware of how the song was a standout and had some of the rawest emotions on Teenage Dream.

I heard this song for the first time at her concert in omaha the other night and I cant stop listening to it. So many people can connect with it...not just people who have dealt with drug addicts like Katy did (travy mccoy). and the F word is 100% appropriate when necessary!

The song Circle the Drain is about Travie McCoy going though his addiction with pharmaceutical medication. Both Katy and Travie were together at the time.
They weren't together when she realesed it they broke up in 2009 and the song came out in 2010 but a lot of people say it's about travie and I think it's true

No one is obligated to stay by an addict to get them clean. You can try all you want, but if that person doesn't want to get clean it doesn't matter.

This is one of my favorite songs that you've done. And she's right about wanting to just sing along at the top of your lungs. Saw her in concert July 29th (last night) and it was one of my favorites in the whole show (not that any of her other songs are any worse, they are all great!).

I am pretty sure if Travie was so offended he would have been more upset about it. Anyone who thinks that she was too blunt obviously has not dealt with this type of situation. No one but the addict can make the move to make themselves better. I don't think she sounds bitter, I think she finally got something off her chest the way an artist does- through their art.

@loveliveanddie okay but he wasnt on drugs when he got with her.he was clean for like 7 or 8 yrs when he got with her. it wasnt the fact that travie had done drugs it was the fact that it took over him and messed up their relationship cause he was doing them while they were together.

@ginncox She was not making fun of him. She was writing about her feelings about her situation when she felt the time was right. Its not like she put out this song when he was still doing drugs. She waited till the time was right to put down her feelings about it.

@xDDEVENY As you said; Russell WAS that. In the song Katy sings about trying to make Travie quit doing all of that, but he didnt. If you look at him today even youll see he probably hasnt quit yet. Russell didnt do any drugs when they met, he'd quit it, just like she wanted; a drug free man.

@batsarecool09 Wow, you're not getting it at all. This song is clearly personal for the both of them, and it didn't need to be released, or at least this version did it. I'm all for people expressing how they feel and things that go on in their lives, but to put someone on blast for their ADDICTIONS which they tried to take care of while they were with you and weren't strong enough to? That's when it's out of line.
@sibhie6 moreso I think she meant the type of music as well. Alanis Morissette has hard lyrics and music at times and this is like the first time Katy Perry has made a song like that. That has a bit of grunge to it.
