Cmon guys 15 min and no one mentions Berhalter is a disaster?
If you don't understand the game don't comment about it. The USA federation is the problem period
Uruguay has a population of 3.4 million, not 34 million...
The ref did NOT play the "advantage" on that yellow card. When playing the "advantage" the whistle is not blown and the play is never stopped. Instead, he blew the whistle and stopped play, but allowed for a quick "restart" by Uruguay. This is common, but NOT when the ref is issuing a card. The ref should have called back the quick restart.
Correct John, making the “play on, advantage” arm signals incorrect.
3 million not 34 million
The MLS also needs relegations otherwise the competition will stay stagnant
Klopp would consider the US job, he seems to excel in that underdog position...it would be fun for him, he would have a good time even if he crashed out of the WC in the round of 16. Pep would laugh at the prospect.
It's just soccer, we have to be polite somewhere and pretend the rest of the world should continue competing with us!
Mike trout would not have been a good soccer player.
Hire Ralf Rangnick. He is a top manager and he knows how to build up a modern academy system. His tactical knowledge would give you a better preparation for the world cup and his system-knowledge would set you up for the next 1-2 generations.
It still won't guarantee a top level US team but within the given circumstances (other big sports competing for talent, no relegation, etc.) it would maximize your chances.
USA got the talent, but there's no direction now. According to the experts Gregg Berhalter is not a good coach. He doesn't know how to make adjustments. Right now under his direction he cannot top opposition. His winning percentage is like 2% against top 20 teams(he is only able to beat Mexico). He is not a top top for top talent. He wants to the players best buddy. Guys I can go on, on, on.
No they don’t. They do not have the talent. People arguing that we have the talent will always be blame the coach for not getting the best out of the players. The USMNT will always disappoint with or without a great coach. The players are not even close to being good enough. Those playing in Europe are mediocre at best and, in all likelihood, are less than mediocre. Reyna was sold for 12 million. McKennie will be sold for less than 15 million. Even Pulisic was sold for 17 million despite having a decent season. But Pulisic proved his value in the Copa that when he isn’t surrounded by good players, he is only mediocre. A world class player isn’t going to lose the ball over and over again due to poor touches. These are not valued players in the world game meaning they aren’t world class! Vini Jr would fetch a bigger transfer fee than our entire team combined. Please explain to me how we have the players to be competitive!?
The red card of T Weah changed everything including the game against Uruguay. USA had to play a different style of game if they don't have to win. Without that condition imposed on USA, the outcome may be different. T Weah should be out of national team as he is undisplined player. Don't care about the game just brutality
There is no quick fix to the USMNT. This problem starts at the youth level and changing a coach will not fix this.
No son of mine is playin' no "foosball"!
Eliminate pay to play for the youth
This is America, we don't care about this lame soft sport. ESPN has tried for the last 40 years to make it a revenue stream. We don't care.
Unfortunately, the sports the US cares about are being taken over by Europe(NBA) and Japan and Latin America(MLB). The only sport Americans dominate is American football, buts that's just cause no one else cares about it. The NFL would be dominated by non-Americans if the rest of the world cared. We simply dont focus on playing sports "the right way," we focus on athleticism.
