Also, you have to beat us by a landslide since Panama will surely beat Bolivia and they will have a better goal difference. The difference is that in Rio de la Plata we have played soccer since we were kids (I have been playing since I was 4 for example), and in addition to playing, we are taught to play rough and we play on fields that don't even have grass, while in the United States it is a "girls'" sport and they always had Mexico as a reference, which to be realistic is a low-level team compared to CONMEBOL. This is the same Panamian team that Canada pulled apart 4-1 just a few months ago and there was absolutely no reason to put on another defender and sit back. That was just tactically naive, which Berhalter is. American coaches, in general, keep looking poor compared to guys like Wilfried Nancy, because they're all from the US college game, they think all they need to teach is traps and triggers. They're tactically disonnected and undisciplined, and technically sloppy.
The mistake that USMNT had last night was to degrade the Panama team and take it as a victory without having played the game in the same way as sports commentators think, in soccer only the one who wins the game is better regardless of the history of each team
USMNT team is probably the LAST team in the world that should be looking down their noses at their competition, they have so many bad losses to superior and "inferior" teams (in regards to the FIFA rankings) it is not even funny. USMNT team has been overrated AF for years and years.

Decisions are subjective. Did he do what you would have, maybe maybe not. What we now know is it didn't work. what we don't know is any other decision would have been better. Anyone can play the hypothetical game, it just isn't worth it.
Just compare Bielsa’s demeanor on the sidelines to Berhalter…..Bielsa demands the best out of his players while Berhalter is more interested in being liked by his players. You cannot get great results unless you expect greatness out of your players. US Soccer needs to approach Jurgen Klopp and overpay him to bring him in. If we want to be taken seriously as a nation, we need a better coach. Period!!!
I don't think NTs can afford guys like Klopp and he's would probably go on a lower salary for Germany. Besides, apparently Ussoccer made it SO that both mens and womens coach have to be paíd the same lol,so youre pretty screwed.

This was the tournament to measure ourselves against Conmembol competition and we lose to Panama. Catastrophic is an appropriate way to describe this. Reminds me of the Trinidad result in 2018. This feels like a seismic game, where the USA has to make changes. It's sad. I don't expect us to get much better, but no chance you can lose that game to Panama, in any circumstance.
@@jeancarlos14007 Nice. I didn't know that Panama was missing so many starters last night. I wasn't making any excuses about last night. The US was terrible and Panama deserved the win. I was merely pointing out that the win in the Gold Cup wasn't a reflection on the team playing last night.
what I learned about my country last night, America has a real problem with unqualified people clinging to positions of power and it's severely holding this country back from it's potential
Interestingly enough, I believe it is a usual and growing trend with democracies (or maybe a charachteristic of it). We think we have institutions to put the best ones or at least the capable ones in positions of power, but in reality is nothing like that. In reality, nepotism, lobbying, inheritance, speculation, greed and self interest end up deciding who holds the reigns. There are so many filters to access power in the name of freedom, that it ends up limiting you freedom , ironically. Im getting too philosophical. I think that coaching difference for next game is massive, US will have to super perform to get a result.
Couch coach here: 1. huge maturity issue in the team (just watch how they cover each other, which they don't) 2. huge trainer issues (the guys said it all in the video) 3. sometimes it's better to go through a bad turn of events, for the sake of a reality check. Germany in their own time, 2018, didn't go through the Group stage. They learned their lesson. 4. realistically speaking, do your best against Uruguay but it's a good opportunity to learn and practice in preparation for the next major event
@@juanagustingarcia1866exactly. futbol is too pay to play in America. It needs to be more accessible for all class of ppl. that’s how you develop the “soul” of the country
I like Alexi and his crew but what we witnessed from them just now was wishful thinking of the highest order. Not only did Mosse say that Panamá could stumble against Bolivia, but they also hinted that the USMNT has a chance to beat Uruguay by more than 1 goal. I would have never believed these guys made those statements unless I had watched the video with my own two eyes.
In what world do they believe that the USMNT beats Uruguay? Bielsa, after the thrashing they gave Bolivia, came out and stated that they were still not good enough to be considered contenders. They will not have mercy on the USMNT and want to set an example of what it means to take it to the next level. Panama fumbling it against Bolivia is possible, but Panama is just a better team, and this may be the end Greggs tenure as USMNT coach
Come on, people. Last night Uruguay was winning 5-0 and still were fighting for more. They're in their prime and have one of the best coaches in the world. If you think that last game was bad...
They made passes and plays that a lot of teams struggle to execute seem like child's play last night against Bolivia. Uruguay is dangerous and scary right now. They have two years to polish things up and that's what makes this team terrifying to watch.
Balogun had scored 2 goals across 2 competitions - replaced with Pepi who failed to score in the previous game despite a 1.5 xg. And CCV, terrible 2 weeks ago against Colombia - gets his chance again, and is the one most responsible for giving up the winner today. Add taking out Gio, and you have absolutely tragic game management.
@@GRMDGRMYeah, and Colombia defeated Uruguay. Does that mean that Colombia is better than Uruguay AND Argentina? Who's leading the Conmebol Qualy right now?😉
USA will be never like other countries not because of Berhalter but because of your whole approach to soccer at young age and your stupid American thinking.
As a foreigner (Brit) looking at things from afar I would just like to give my opinion for what it's worth and no disrespect is intended. The main issue I see with US "soccer" players is you constantly churn out excellent athletes but they're not great technically, I don't know if it the fault of the University system or the grounding they receive as kids. Not saying none are technically gifted but it seems to take a distant second place to athletisim and that needs to change. Raw footballing ability should always be the main focus. GGs.
Futbol (soccer) is played from minute 1 to 90 + extra time. If you make childlike mistake during the first minutes you are screwed for the whole game. You need to play wisely, Mexico underestimate Venezuela and look what happened. In south America, we never underestimate out opponents. We are usually very careful.
In my opinion, the 2002 world cup USMNT is the best. Brad Friedel, Frankie Hejduk, Cobi Jones, Gregg Berhalter, Pablo Mastroeni, Ernie Stewart, John O'Brien, Eddie Lewis, Claudio Reyna, Brian McBride, Clint Mathis, Landon Donovan, Tony Sanneh, Eddie Pope. They're good.
And they proved it on the field. Not only beating Mexico in the knockout round, but outplaying Germany in the quarterfinals. If only VAR was available back then, USA would have had a PK for the Ballack handball in the 2nd half. Oliver Kahn was a beast tho. Tough to beat back then.
Great team we had back then, even if they didn't pay for large clubs, they fought hard and they loved playing for that U S jersey. These guys, I don't know.
I'm Argentinian. It's great to see that finally this loss seems to hurt. You are awesome in basketball or American football, but soccer (as you call it) embraces all nations, and has the eyes of the world over it, mostly in tournaments like this or the World Cup, which will also happen in your land (and I'll be there for sure 🇦🇷). Soccer brings some nationalism and it's one of the most important sports in the world. Every big nation on this sport had important losses and you should learn from it and to be better next time. I think that the fact that you guys are angry now, is a good symptom for the future. Wish you the best against Uruguay ( they are one of our clásicos)
Im British American. As as lover of all things football, i can see they wont learn. They refuse to adapt to innovative Coaching, but then look to have what turns out to be less effective tactics and devoid of ideas with American Coaches. Even if you have an experienced foreign tactician as an Assistant, it makes a difference. This is the same merry go round
The American team could also have easily been the best for years on end in terms of the athletes we produce...the problem is in our country futbol is just not were the money is...our best athletes train for decades in other sports to make the best outcome financially for themselves. Sadly in a capitalist country I cannot see this ever changing unless the population view towards other sports shifts.
@@maurobilotti I dont necessarily disagree with your point but for example...Messi coming to Miami now in contract he did not come here for a big sum of $ on paper, say compared to Ronaldo or Neymars deals but the sponsorships/commercials/advertisements it is all about money at the highest levels and sure I agree with your point on the passion other countries have with the sport that goes hand in hand with the culture power it has but it in the end always deems to who pays more...that is how western culture works which in my opinion is sad and muddys the waters of the sport which in the USA as to why it is not popular, and sure it might be on the rise towards a different generation due towards a different kind of America we see today but it will always be up to the highest bidders in what dictates "popular culture".
There are thousands of good managers and assistants in Europe that US soccer can hire to manage the US team, but they brought back Berhalter instead. 🤦♀
@@Lucas_Tulic Money talks and the US can pay more than any other country. For example, Washington Spirit hired Jonatan Giráldez, an FC Barcelona Femeni manager. The majority of people in the US don't know what sport Washington Spirit plays, let alone that it is known in Europe. Another example is Emma Hayes, who is now the USWNT manager. She left Chelsea FC, which is also one of the biggest football clubs in the world.
There is a much higher chance of Bolivia beating Panama than the USMNT even tying with Uruguay. Everything is possible in this game, sure [We have seen Mexico beat Germany]. I do not think people in the US realize that Uruguay is a more important Fútbol country than Spain, for example. And I would put their current team top 5 in the world.
Alexi Lalas,.. the only one out there who never sees it coming when a great US coach is rolling to success and a poor one is steering the ship into an iceberg.
The Golden Generation talk has to stop. You have to do something to earn that title. There are many many players who previously played for the national team that I’d rather have.

This is a priceless moment. These guys are all like Panama is not Argentina, we shouldn't lost the game. Well, guess what, Panama beat you again, so start to get use to it😅. Finally, you are not Argentina either, so you won't defeat Uruguay. Panama will advance to next round.
Going down to 10 men would throw off ANY team, I think the squad did a great job for maintaining that tie after going down that early. Balogun is a gem of a forward and wish he was kept in longer-he and Pulisic have a great chemistry
I can’t believe we are still talking about the possibility of Greg keeping his job. Even if they win, it would be playing Uruguay team 2, saving his best players for next round.
Who would’ve thought that we’d be here talking about not getting out the group stage. Thank you Timothy weah & Greg Berhalter… you guys set the Usmnt 5 years back
Greg didn't smack a guy in the head 16 minutes into the match. He's not a great coach but to lay the loss at his feet when they're playing down a man for 70+ minutes is silly.
If the US was going to build confidence, especially before last match. This was the game. Especially after Gold Cup Semi. Panama was missing 4 Starters...most on defense. This was Fariña 4th game with Panama National team, no Andrade , no Fidel Escobar, who are Pretty good. Now must show heart and grit vs URUGUAY 😳
They shouldn’t have subbed Reyna off at all, Reyna is the best midfielder to get possession and create something upfield. He was doing good defensive work on the right side. Bringing in CCV was idiotic! Cardoso was pointless, and Pepi was a terrible sub. Balogun was balling and Pepi had one moment and then wasn’t relevant.
The rest of the soccer world thinks the US is nothing more than a bunch of mid players and we continue to be shocked with these results. Maybe it's time to face facts, the hype is greater than the talent. This is two HORRIFIC results in the last three contests and we still are shocked? I didn't get the subs tonight at all. What does Berhalter see in Cordoza and Vickers that no one else does? I'm can't recall a single moment where either of these two have done anything to warrant minutes. Gotta totally disagree with Clint and Alexi about Horvath letting that goal in. I'm not sure there is a goalie on this planet that makes that save. That was a bullet from 7yds out, the reaction time needed would boarder on pre-cognition.
I think it's fantastic that there is intense competition and that the so-called underdogs have improved immensely, much better than expecting Brazil or Argentina to win everything.
How Musah didn't come in was huge mistake. He is only midfielder who has the strength and speed to break lines and is comfortable in tight quarters. I love Adams but he simply isn't ready. Even Aaronson would have been a good choice based on his non stop running.

I think this loss doesn't allow us to hide behind a good enough result. If we got out of the group stage and put in a good performance in the knockouts and ultimately lose I feel like the team largely escapes criticism. If we're serious about stepping onto the world stage and competing in major tournaments and winning something. We have to beat someone like Uruguay. Losing last night doesn't change the fact that we have to beat Uruguay eventually. Now it has to be now. I think some pressure is what this team needed.
Greg has been...well, he's been something. He is a coach of all time. I'm Uruguayan, and I was rooting for a USA 2nd place. This game was funky, to say the least
I will say this, the only way USA can survive is if Bolivia does the impossible and wins vs. Panama. A win for Bolivia leaves Panama at 3 points, and the USA's goal difference could be their last chance at survival.
I just hope Uruguay don`t sell the game to the host of the competition, cuz if you are a sports fan and you know anything about football(not Soccer) you know that USA doesn't have the individual quality or team quality to match Uruguay, Uruguay needs to put USA in their feets let them see the reality that besides Pulisic there is no players on a top level, really average team... Exactly, and even after they got beat, they're still saying that Panamá will fail to take care of business against Bolivia because Carrasquilla won't play. Panamá beat Bolivia less than a year ago in Cochabamba with its B (almost C) team. Believe me, Panamá will handle their end of the bargain.

Ah yes, the same US National Team that couldn't get a draw against Trinidad on a "field that's too wet" struggling against Panama. US Soccer is the equivalent of the Dallas Cowboys. All hype, no results to back it up.
It surprised me how easy they went on Tim Weah. It was an absolutelybdumb waybof leaving your team with 10 players. Sure Berhalter didnt adapt, but Weah was far from the pro level he should be.
With the US and Uruguay match, as an American I have hope but as Uruguayan I gotta say US is Cooked, Uruguay is relentless and even with the B team you saw what they did to Mexico, Uruguay will most likely have Suarez on the field but most likely keep everything the same, they wanna show that they are standing on business, that why I’m sorry to say this But US is done for
Uruguay will rest Nunez, valverde and other good players except Suarez will probably start and Suarez is still better than the entire USA team minus maybe pulisic. USA can still advance with a tie or if they lose by one goal if Bolivia pull an upset on Panama which is very possible. I can see Panama trying to play it safe and losing 1-0 to Bolivia.
That's me. I want to believe USA can make it, but as a Colombian, I know they are done. Their goose is cooked on Monday. USA had to finish this today not on Monday vs one of the favorites.
@@briansilva4165 panama has 4 straight wins against Bolivia , and one in Bolivia home stadium last year , one in copa america 2016 and bolivia is way worse now
As a panamanian... Even though we won and are really happy about it, in a cold head... I found weird that us didn't handle the game better. What i mean is panama has 4-6 injured... And we don't have a long bench... But i would think us does, as it has shown great level of players in the last years. It was confusing to think "so are you telling me that US has only one team? With all those players abroad?" I remember when i was a kid... My dad had a saying "brasil has so many players that they could have 4 winning teams...the bench of the bench could win 3-0 against most teams"... We in panama have 1 team with some bench, but not 2 or 3 teams. I would think us would have
My advise to USA playing against Uruguay is to play defensive for the whole 90 minutes. USA needs to play like Costa Rica did to Brazil. 11 players in the back defending to get a draw. If USA attempts to play open and attack Uruguay, USA is gonna lose really bad like they did against colombia. It is gonna be another 5-1 because Uruguay is a very dangerous team with high class players!
USA is not winning against Uruguay and Panama will beat Bolivia. New coach and new roster. They seem like they can only play one on one and not as a team.
Oh no. Believe me, it's been more than twice and in tournaments no less. At this point Panama should be USMNT bounty hunters cause they are effective at destroying them s@@DENNISAVERY-xi5jb
So no ones going to talk about how idiotic it was to sub on Pepi? In a (realistically) must win game, aside from all the other BS and Gregg worrying more about what shoes he's going to wear more than his tactics, Gregg took off our in-form striker (who was having a great game) to put on a predetermined test sub (a test sub in a must win game) who during his chance in the previous game missed 3 SITTERS. And then he comes on and has ANOTHER chance free at the back post and makes a mess of it again. Not to mention he was horrible at hold up play and passing which is what the team needed. Add that on top of the other mistakes mentioned in this video and Gregg is clearly a nightmare of a coach, it shouldnt even be a question of if he is up to the task. Hes hardly a coach. He makes no in-game coaching decisions, he can't read and react to the game in real time. He is being carried by a team of talented players, they dont win because of good tactics they win because of good players. They could be so much better with a real coach. They could miraculously beat Uruguay 5-0 and Gregg should still get fired because Gregg has nothing to do with our wins. This might actually be the first game Gregg made in-game decisions, and it was only because he was so desperate to keep his job that he forced his team to do something they've never done (back 5) and accept pressure from PANAMA (no offense Panama).
I don't see it either, where and how they think it's possible is perplexing, I mean sure if Uruguay doesn't do anything at all and plays horribly then ok maybe but it's unlikely, Uruguay like to be dominant and score even when the matches don't count for anything 😅
What happens if Turner doesn’t play against Uruguayan. So we wouldn’t have Turner or Weah, to play in one of most important games since the World Cup. I’m feeling doom & gloom.
As World Cup hosts, this is the last chance for USMT to play real games before that tournament. To get out of Copa America in stage group would be catastrophic! Really thinking of changing coaches to play friendly games till 2026???? GO PANAMÁ!

Period!!!
Klopp is a football coach/manager…..Not a bloody miracle worker.
I don't think NTs can afford guys like Klopp and he's would probably go on a lower salary for Germany. Besides, apparently Ussoccer made it SO that both mens and womens coach have to be paíd the same lol,so youre pretty screwed.
@@Sololaverdad429 US Soccer can defiantly afford any coach. When it comes to finances, US Soccer is one of the richer federations. With that said, there is no way in the world Klopp is coming to coach the US.
First, Klopp is a club coach, not a national team coach. And he would never leave European football for CONCACAF.
cough, cough...Hansi Flick!
You don't know what your talking about the US doesn't have a good soccer team. They beat them less than a year ago in the goldcup.

what I learned about my country last night, America has a real problem with unqualified people clinging to positions of power and it's severely holding this country back from it's potential
It's happening everywhere in the US isn't it? 😂😂😂
Couch coach here:
1. huge maturity issue in the team (just watch how they cover each other, which they don't)
2. huge trainer issues (the guys said it all in the video)
3. sometimes it's better to go through a bad turn of events, for the sake of a reality check. Germany in their own time, 2018, didn't go through the Group stage. They learned their lesson.
4. realistically speaking, do your best against Uruguay but it's a good opportunity to learn and practice in preparation for the next major event
Yea better take this as an alarm and prepare for hosting the WC rather than having this type of error in your own World Cup
Shouldn't the 2018 World Cup qualifying have been the wake-up call?
Germany didnt go through 1st stage in 2022 either…
What you mean by trainer issues? I just don't understand what that means. Thanks!
Or just get a decent manager

I would have never believed these guys made those statements unless I had watched the video with my own two eyes.
I know! 😂
I want what their having right now to forget about this loss!

We’re gonna get our cheeks clapped.

US soccer will never be what other countries are, full stop.
they basically had to rehire gregg so it wouldnt seem like the Reynas were controlling things
GGs.
Why is Panama underestimated? USA is just boosted by it's media that they're a good team.

It’s over guys. Panama is beating Bolivian. It’s over Tim made. A bone head move our goalies sucked. And Greg managed poorly

@@estebanmuriel2003always blaming someone else but themselves🤦🏻♂️, usa was up 1-0 and could have played different but chose not to and here we are.
@@dagosegovia843 your absolutely correct but it doesn’t take away the bad reffing that happened in this game.
@@estebanmuriel2003nothing scandalous, that was pretty run of the mill referee. If you complaining about that then no game will every satisfy you. It was just a pretty awful performance by the US
Berhalter is a joke. Going a man down and then a goal up calls for tactile awareness from the coach and character from the players. Credit to Panama for keeping up the sustained pressure and breaking down the US.
Weah needs to be punished!
The US should play qualifiers in conmebol. Sure you wont get easy way into the world cup and probably wont qualify very often, but playing these games will ultimately up your levels.
How is one of the "best" US teams in history performing just as bad as one of the worst Mexico teams in history? 😂
You'll see against Uruguay
@@rodgermurphy5721are you implying usa will beat uruguay?
C.Pulisic scored in key games for AC Milan when Stefano Pioli's job was on the line. AC Milan finished 2nd in Serie A and Pioli still lost his job. G.Berhalter is gone after the Uruguay game.
What key games have pulisic scored in name them. He has only scored against poor teams
Nonsense. Bologna, Lazio, Torino are all in the top half of the table. Plus he scored 1 Champions League & 2 Europa League goals. Add on 1 more from Coppa Italia if you like. He even finished 11th in Serie A in GS, ahead of his teammate Leào.
@@thomashimes644 you obviously don't know mediocre teams Vs top teams so I will just leave it there
@@thomashimes644 Italy's national team in Euro 2024 has many players from AS Roma, which finished sixth in Serie A. No one from AC Milan. AC Milan is the one team in Serie A where most players are foreign to Italy and get selected by their home countries national team. Pulisic to the U.S. Giroud to France. Hernandez to France. Okafor to Switzerland. Musah to the U.S. Maybe some others I'm forgetting.
