I restored a 3=6 some time ago and loved that car. I drove it often up a long hill to our local airport and had no issues with it at all. I still say it was one of the best-looking cars and should get more attention. It was on display in a car museum for a while.
Thanks for sharing. Made in a day when car companies knew about interior design. What a beautiful place to sit. Auto Union were one of the first to implement aerodynamics and it shows in this car. Beautifully Germanic

Grandfather Johann owned one of these sparkling girls in the early 70s ... finished in mustard yellow with a white roof .. she was parked in her little wooden shed built against the small three room house . fine times in Lower Bavaria which I miss :-)
When I first saw this car as a teenager I fell in love with it! Sadly I never got to own one. I’m 77 years old and would buy it today if they ever reproduced it. Perhaps a convertible version would be my preferred model choice. Oh please bring her back!

The coupe version was very practicable after party time to travel home with 5 guys: In the font on the middle rear seat comes the person to hold the heads of the both drunken fellows outside, when the rear windows was pulled down! Long, long time ago (1970)
The first car my father bought and i was born that very year ! It must have been repainted since i don`t remember to have spotted any black then. We had an orange and a yellow model but the colours were rather like water colours . Never forget the exhaust smell :-(
It makes the British Morris Minor look like crap. And what a fantastic condition it is in! Can these cars be easily bought in the Netherlands? Germany became very rich after this and probably didn't preserve them but there should be quite a few in Brazil. They were successful in South Africa but they destroy everything old there.
schöne klassische rundungen, die nach hinten gezogenen radkästen, runde motorhaube, der fließende runde heck, passt alles zusammen, hat stil. nur von vorne gefällt der mir nicht so besonders. der innenraum sieht zu dürftig aus, irgendwie kalt, typisch für so alte autos. ich fänd einen modernen innenraum schöner, dazu die außenformen.
A very stylish little car. They did not reach here and I've not seen one in the metal, sad to say. The less said about the engine the better, from the sound of things.
@@toqtoq3361 Yes, I knew it was a two-stroke. The combination of the air-cooling and the two-stroke make it very rattly. Crispy and nice are not adjectives I'd apply to the sound.

Que eu me lembre, os DKW/Vemag que foram produzidos no Brasil nos anos 50 eram semelhantes a este porém não eram cupê com 2 portas sem colunas. As I remember, the DKW/Vemag that were produced in Brazil in the 50's were similar to this one but they weren't 2-door coupe without columns. The front doors in that period were suicide doors and had 4 doors. There were some particular modifications to 2-door competition cars. ua-cam.com/video/VtCs2y2pLIg/v-deo.html

Die ersten DKW wurden in den 20'er Jahren in Germany gebaut. Die Fa. Vemac hatte ab Mitte der 50'er bis Ende der 60'er Jahre DKW-Modelle nachgebaut.
