There are many hacks for Super Mario World, made with Lunar Magic ( fusoya.eludevi... ), but few of them offer a whole new pleasurable game. The Second Reality Project ( web.archive.or... ) is notable for being the first hack not made by the author of Lunar Magic that is still considered to be a decent game. The game spawned an Award-Winning series of hacks known for pushing Super Mario World to its limits, pulling in features from other games, and still adding on a few things of its own. This hack, The Second Reality Project Reloaded, is a remake of the original hack with all new graphics, custom music, and other great additions to help set the game apart.
This hack can be regarded as a true sequel to Super Mario World, picking up where it left off. Bowser has hatched a plan to rebuild his airships from Super Mario Bros. 3, and brings along his kids for support, hoping to use his newfound power and henchmen in the "Second Reality" to conquer the Mushroom Kingdom once and for all. Mario (and Luigi) must travel to the strange new Second Reality and face foes and puzzles they've never seen before. The game contains 8 classic worlds, as per the standard in previous games, as well as a special Bowser World, a Sonic World used as a short cut system similar to the Star World from Super Mario World, and one other...
This run improves the first TAS ( tasvideos.org/... ) of this hack by almost 15 seconds.
This ROM hack really showed the true potential of the game's soundfont.
Listen between 16:34 to 16:37. What do you hear?
JDN19960302ROBLOX Gaming I hear OOF
That’s the overworld theme from SMB!
What an amazing ROM hack, too bad this run only shows roughly 10% of it. It's breathtaking.
Not only that, but it's also the greatest and most revolutionary SMW hack nearly up to the ranks of Mario's Mystery Meat and A Plumber for All Seasons!
The first feather is about halfway through the first castle otherwise.
Also, SMW romhacks are still restricted to the SMW soundfont. So not only are the Megadrive and Super Nintendo capable of playing very different types of music, SMW romhacks are even more limited than that.
Credit song is really good👍
Nice video! :D
Don't know why I find it so hilarious that Koopa Lake looks like the lake levels from DK Country 3, but uses the SNES Koopa Beach music from Mario Kart. =P
And then suddenly, Sanic! D:
For being a technical marvel, the game _REALLY_ drones on near the end. Levels that a TASer can fly through with ease still take minutes to complete, as if the guy putting the levels together couldn't bear to split them into multiple parts. The phrase "too much of a good thing" really fits this game's later worlds.
This is a hack of Super Mario World.
Mind
Blown
Acoustic Castle
For some reason, it's the only TSRPR soundtrack that would be played in future SMW hacks (re: Master Hand's Doomsday).
simply amazing!
this hack looks so strange and amazing. very nice TAS. can someone tell me why he went for 50 on the first to goalposts? It seems to me he did it to get the feather from the bonus room, but I refuse to believe he couldn't have gotten once somewhere else faster.
16:33
Thats because the mega drive was made for that sort of music, I bet if you tried to put snes music on a mega drive it would sound a bit off :P
My hack will never be TASed, because is not even 1/4 of the original SMW, and also, no custom, no reskin, nothing more than few levels but designed in order to get a lot from those... but it's not enough, the second reality is just too good
zu schade, dass keiner mal ein Spiel ohne die bugs spielt
Koopa Lake #1 Has My Favorite Music
Wondering if there's any 100% playthroughs of this hack
Soms bons demais
What recording software are you using? I notice that in the water section of the game where you alternate press left and right every frame and the youtube video doesn't degrade it.
Why do the wood tiles remind me of the Pirate boss’s ship in Congo’s Caper?
The tsrp1.htm link is a 404. tsrp.html works.
Echoes of Birabuto Has My Favorite Music. How Did You Dont Want To Go There?
Everyday I'm mooncapin'

When will we get a Chaos Complexx TAS?
Jumpman up to something
Great hack but the final boss fight is a bit underwhelming
Couldn’t agree more
Similarly to how Superman 64 is my most hated video game (since Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde for the NES) unlike any other (I know a lot of people think that, but at least with even the other worst video games, credit could *barely* be given credit where it's due, which is why in the mid-late 2010s, Rerez made "Positives" in the mid-late 2010s when he could actually afford making them), The Second Reality Project 1 & 2 Reloaded are my favorite games unlike any other (and Pac-Man World 2 for sixth-gen home consoles was so close to getting that title, and yet it's not the only game I'd consider an epitome of success) and even I have to admit that (from an obbjective standpoint), while it does have its hyper-creative moments, it does borrow elements from other games. While it's not really a *problem* per-se (as factor5fanatic said it best in his (toxic portion of, not all of) Nintendo Fanboys rant, it's not about the game that came first, it's about the game that had the same material that did it the best out of the two), what (very minorly) is in TSRPR is that it could have had a bit more than just Sonic 1 stages in the Sonic shortcut and its sequel, TSRP2R had the grandiose final boss TSRP1R didn't (it didn't even have the regular boss music or Thirdspace destruction/Yoshi's Final Flight music either).
@@kieranstark7213 "Couldn't have said it any better myself." Proceeds to say it better. :P
Honestly, after the grueling level I'm kinda glad that the boss itself wasn't some ultra insane difficult fight.
I think this game deserves a 1.3 update with extra mid points for some of the more extreme levels, but overall TSRP 1&2 are my favorite rom hacks with the mario gives up trilogy a bit below but still awesome.
Also, I don't think a lot of people know this but FPI actually restarted production on TSRP3, I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere except his website, just search FPI productions.
Well, it’s 2022 and The Second Reality Project 3: The Fellowship of the Switch is still in development hell like a planned remake of Bowser’s Valley by REGHRHRE aka spritecoll (as a UA-camr), both of them (especially TSRP3TFSOTS) landing on my list of Mario games that should be made (including fan games) along with A Hundred Levels of Pure Hell, but I actually quite enjoy BV a lot despite the controversy it sparked SMWCentral themselves just because they looked back at it to find out it had stolen content from Luigi’s Adventure (mainly OSE), Kaos Islands (which NGL, I can see why it’s pretty much forgotten) and Super Mario Bros. 3X (before it was brought back to life a half-decade later in 2014).
@@kieranstark7213 I mean July 31st 2021 wasn't that long ago about five months. I'd honestly wait years if it meant another amazing entry from FPI.
Same
i dont even know what tas is lol
Cara vc não sai na rua não é? meu deus kkkkk
17:28 what the...
@Nu Kumtrakool thank you, kind stranger
i would have beaten this rom hack but then pc machine broke and if i were to complete it now it would have taken 15 months and that makes me uncomfortable because this should not take 15 months
404 not found =(
Is this tool assisted? It really looks like it.😑
igor santos, brasileiro?
sim, ele é
Did I make the soundtrack to this game without realizing it? This is just so, so, so bad.
+SykoFox THANK YOU. I didn't wanna be the one to make the comment...
+SykoFox Did u played this game?
If you do you'll love the soundtrc, i made 100% this game and loved the soundtrack
+TheRagiword It doesn't match the genre, that's the problem. It's not that it's just plainly bad..
+Erik Hedberg Karlsson ok, i think that there are bad tracks and good tracks in this game, just play a Lil bit you'll see
I'd argue that it's at least better than the mario hacks that just reuse zelda music in the mario engine as "new" music.
To whoever made this ROM Hack, the graphics are fucking phenomenal. But the music is so bland and uninspired. It really brings the quality of watching it down. And "Silence"? Fucking seriously? Did you guys actually look at that level choice and think, "You know what, that's a good idea." I've seen a lot of these ROM Hacks nail the music department. They get the tunes from other games, but they do the renditions very well. Such as Bubble Man's Stage from Megaman 2.
SMW romhacks are limited to the SMW soundfont. Sure, there's still a lot of room for interpretation, but you really have to know your stuff. Something like, say, Ho-Oh's HeartGold battle theme is tough to transpose into any other soundfont due to the presence of various specialized instruments. It's not something you can just plug into GXSCC and hope for the best. You'll have to crack open Mario Paint and get to work. My friend Chaotic Marin could tell you more, but she's rather busy these days.
There's another romhack of SMW named "This Hack Needs A Name" and there is exactly a same level. No music, almost empty.

I'd have to play this with the sound turned off due to the horrible music.
The gfx are ok
But the music so bad :(
Mega Drive 2 sound chip could play this music much much better
