This song... was the first song that came on when I shuffled my music when my father died.
I had to be the rock, my only sibling, my younger brother (14 at the time), didn't know how to process. I still remember the very second when we got the news.
I was just numb.
I didnt cry or mourn till a day or two after, when I laid down in bed and put some music on. This song brought it out of me.
I still cry when I hear it.
Rest in peace dad. I love you.
8/17/1960 - 7/03/2015
I miss you terribly. I'm trying so hard dad to be there for my brother.
Im trying.
Time goes by so fast.
Stay strong man
I share this story with ya man. 6 months and it still ain't easier. Hang in there
@@chrisg3457 5 years later.
And we have the same first name and last initial btw
Jesus fuck... reading that even hurt me. I know this is just a reply from a stranger on the internet, but I genuinely hope you're all good.
@@Kyrnyx all is good. Just personal struggles. Its hard to be a role model for your little bro when you're such a fuck up
Periphery is win. They can do anything, and Spencer is brilliant. I am a singer and he's one of my favorite singers.
"blah give us an instrumental set of albums."
Yeah guys, they're totally gonna trash all their work on an incredibly detailed story just to appease a few meatheads.
Remember when Misha popped into the comments and said "we don't write stuff to appeal to people, we write it for self expression"? Yeah. I do.
This double album is really good, there's something for everyone. If you don't like this, you'll probably like Omega better. Give them a chance! They put their hearts into this, and it shows. You'll miss out if you judge it without hearing it all.
Well said, friend.
Only thing I have a problem with that you're saying is that "meatheads" want the instrumental version. Not wanting to listen to Kelly Clarkson pop vocals when you're trying to listen to Metal doesn't make you a meathead. I'm an average chill dude. I don't like pure pop like Beyonce and the like. But even an instrumental wouldn't fix it, Spencer's vocals have infected the music too, which has also turned into pop. Too bad.
shanerion You obviously don't understand what pop music is.
shanerion Too bad for you, indeed. No one's making you listen to it.
Psylo Productions Periphery grew and expanded. Anybody that has a problem with that is a fool, anybody that can't tell that they developed their sound through their albums is a fool. Thanks for being wise man.
God.. I’ve loved this band since about 13. I’m 21 now, periphery.. has basically never disappointed me. From icarus lives, until heavy heart. They’re such an amazing group. They manage to balance this celestial war between dark and light in their songs and it gives me goosebumps every time.
literally same except when i was 12, and im 20 now
36 here and this band has got me through some real shitty times. I pretty much owe them my fucking life.
I feel like this song is really underrated compared to the rest of the album. This is my favorite sing-along song at the moment. That chorus is just so catchy. Sure, it's not really that heavy, but it's beautiful for what they were going for. Not every song they make is gonna be like MK Ultra or Hell Below.
When he comes in with the SUCH CURIOSITYYYY!!!! ....... So GOOD!
not gonna lie, i always skipped this song after i heard the part "as the water beads up on the window..." because it sounded kinda off to me and way too poppy
not that there's anything wrong with pop sounding stuff but i just dont like it
and then i decided to give the song a chance and i was blown away by this song. criminally underrated song off of juggernaut.
@@severedbrand4249 my favorite is “children SCREAM! THEIR MOTHERS BLEED HUNG *UPSIDE DOOOOOWN* “ I feel a lot of emotion behind that
its so fucking good i was listening to scarlet on repeat for the catchiest periphery song and then i stumbled upon this. its just so fucking good.
The chorus IS the definition of catchy. When I read your comment it reminded me of the first time I heard this song and thought "wow this song was made to be sang along even the first time we hear it"
screaming vocals always sounds great when contrasted to some poppy clean hooks
Periphery’s chill songs >>>>> literally anything else
2:49 that is the sexiest, most melodic, most satisfying melody and rhythm ever.
hell yea and 1:07 sooo smooth
How brilliant are these blokes. Deadset amazing band. Can't wait for them to come back to Australia
Mark mentioned it's one of the places he'd like to tour this year
Brendon stacey good stuff. Because its been a year and im having withdrawals
whipsy Man, it could be worse, it's been 5 years since they came to Spain. Thank God they are coming back this summer...
hell yeah man, these guys are amazing. I remember seeing them last year in Aus too, can't wait to have 'em back!
I really like this song, it reminds me of Periphery ii. I personally like when Spencer uses his voice to hit those high notes.
This album is the apex of music. I don't think it gets better than this...
Facts. This album will always be my favorite of all time, the contrast of vocals, the guitars, the drums, the reprises and story.
@@Dracula_sb they keep killin it but this really felt like them trying to tell the world "we are, in fact. The best"
Tbh I like spencer's voice. He is one of my favorite singers. But I come from a mostly punk background, and it's kinda nostalgic for me. Reminds me of early thrice and stuff...
Thrice is punk? Sounded like nu metal or hard rock to me
@@andromedaiscoming185 They're kind of experimental emo or hardcore. Which is derived from Punk
Spencer has his own project which is actually nu metal influenced called Endur. Reminds me heavily of Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory.
Dude's obviously got incredible vocal talent, but for some reason It's hard for "certain people" to see that because he's got a higher voice. Imagine that, right?
It's funny because when Chester passed I had a void that nothing else seemed to fill. I came across "Garden In The Bones" from a friend and now these guys are like weed to me. Spencer's voice reminds me of Chester, and the instrumentals are just incredible, and the fact that Misha helped compose a song for the remaster of my 2nd favorite game of all time is the cherry on top.
I see all these debates over new/old Periphery, and I just don't get it. From P1 to P4; there isn't a song I don't like. Maybe some I'll put on repeat a bit more, but aside from that...
I'm glad they don't give a fuck and just make music.
@@Kyrnyx well said, periphery rules 🙂
Lol at not liking these vocals.
That would imply that they're not absolutely perfect. This is one of the best singers around right now.
Rishloo has the best vocalist around.
Sean Henry
....hashtagthatsirrelevant
+Sean Henry I agree, but he also NEVER stops singing.
+NightmareSnake haha there are plenty of people who "like to play music with their friends" who are incredible. This guy however is not one of them.
Michael Gonzalez I'm sorry your life is so sad that you have to pretend that a singer isn't better than you to make yourself not feel inadequate. :C
Spencer's vocal performance on these albums is incredible. Well done, my man!
One of their most artistic songs. I love the last transition into uncleans. Perfect.
definatly my favorite song from the new albums
Well this was beautiful. Periphery has really 1up'd themselves.
This is the ONLY band that makes music which I can never get tired of, thanks guys
OFFICIAL LYRICS:
Experience these things
My chest sinks further in and it gets hard to breathe
Don’t fight it, make this easy
Sometimes I wish I had wings
Fly far away from this life
It’s a long road
As the water beads up on the window,
turn the sad song up on the radio
(What's left with me is a memory)
(When the flesh moves on)
Such curiosity
These thoughts go on all day
It takes hold on me, but fighting isn’t easy
Sometimes I wish I had wings
Fly far away from this life
It’s a long road
As the water beads up on the window,
turn the sad song up on the radio
Will the voices haunt when the flesh moves on
and the clouds block out the rays
When the feeling hangs upon a halo,
I can only try my best just to let it go
What's left with me is a memory
and the things I have to say
Resting now, their bodies hit the ground
Nightmares creep over me
I hear the sounds
(Yes they all hit the ground)
Children scream, their mothers bleed hung upside down
Scarlet ropes and sadistic minds surround me
I've spent all of my life confined in secrecy
What you see is but a shell of what I am on the inside
Clouds of blackness strike lightning
There’s nothing above
I’m falling below
(There’s nothing above)
As the water beads up on the window,
turn the sad song up on the radio
Will the voices haunt when the flesh moves on
and the clouds block out the rays
When the feeling hangs upon a halo,
I can only try my best just to let it go
What's left with me is a memory
and the things I have to say
EVERYONE LIKE THIS SO PEOPLE CAN SEE THE LYRICS
Gorbs413 you are the best dude
Mathis Cactus No problem man
Pretty sure its: The fault with me is a memory.
Chase Sandlin It's not. I got these from the lyric booklet.
2:49-3:35 has that Final Fantasy jive to it. I love it.
Had my dog put down in may and this reminds me of him. Makes me sad and happy at the same time. What a great piece!
Every member of this band is incredible.
loooove this song, I keep coming back for it
the amount of musical and lyrical motifs in this album is nuts.
Nice, vocals sounding really good, songwriting game strong af.
this song is amazing. the vocals are amazing.
Easily my favorite song on this album next to Alpha & 22 Faces. Glad I stumbled upon these guys. Stoked for the July Release of Periphery 3.
Welcome to the family! (:
Such a beautiful song. And amazing guitar songwriting
Anyone else think that at 2:41 it sounds Atreyu - The Theft!? Not a bad thing.
Yeah wow definitely. Great melody line tho. Nice to hear it in another context.
Yes holy shit. Unreal.
That's such a great song. I didn't catch it the first time, I'm surprised as I listened the crap out of The Theft. Now I can't unhear it lol
Can't unhear that... now to listen to Atreyu! After I'm done with this masterpiece of an album that is...
YES! I even sang the lyrics when that part came on and it damn near fit!! hahahhahahaha
"Butt fighting isn't easy"
Ken Patterson Ease- EH!
Lmfaooo!!!🤣🤣🤣
You've ruined this song for me, lmao 😆
Almost ruined the 69 likes, decided to leave it alone :)
sure as shit aint
This will most definitely become my favourite 2 parter album from Periphery. Really professional, outstanding song-writing, astounding vocals.
This duo-album, the most recent Architects album, and the Beartooth album are all on an epic playlist for me. Periphery was the best band to start out 2015 for me.
Oh, man this one is good. Everything about this one is good.
This song has a huge Coheed and Cambria Vibe , which iS Not a Bad thing.
I love that melodic line throughout most of the song, and that solo! Dat solo!
This is far better than I thought it could have been! Really loving the vocal melodies, grooves, and the overall feel of this album. Very versatile and dynamic! Can't wait until it's released!
Probably my favorite chorus on the album
I love all of periphery but this is so fucking pop punky and I love it. I've listened to this an insane amount of times since monday
This album is so good
Love the music LOVE the vocals always have. On this album Spencer kills it so hard
2:13 Literally starts the most catchy part of any song I've ever listened to.
Hope they play this live for the 1st time during the wildfire tour
Looks like predator had some fun in the back round picture of this tune!
Thank you for existing.
Oddly enough I think this is one of my favorites so far.
Saw these guys open up for In Flames (my favorite band) a two nights in a row a few weeks ago. I gave them a listen before the show and immediately dismissed them. I was hooked instantly when these guys started playing. The first time in a while that I've found a new band I really liked.
best periphery album yet in my opinion.
Matt fucking Halpern everybody. God damn groovy.
Matt Halpern makes all beginner djent drummers want to kill themselves (me included 😂)
Try to remember the solo after the 1st chorus! The series of notes repeats throughout the albums!
This song is beautiful... Holy shit
3:17 Carvin HH2!
This song is so good. I love this album, Periphery and Veil of Maya are both so great!!!
Perfection
Never heard this song before from them, I'm glad i did
I love this track so much... what a banger.
best song on juggernaut
Ok, first off i love the song a lot, its not a bad thing but the vibe is definitely depressed teenager, BUT, everyone's talking about that creepy ass part with the scarlet ropes and children scream, mothers hung upside down, its far out but i think Black Minute is about a super creepy sex ritual where 2 people do it with the cult memebers circled around them, and when you add it to this song, it sounds like they kill the mothers and hang them up right when they give birth if the baby is a male, they grow up to be a cult member, And the main character is sad and depressed that thats what he was born into. Could be totally wrong but thats what i think till the band comes out with the story
This might be the song that actually gets me listening to Periphery
As the water beads upon the window
Turn the sad song up on the radio
Will the voices haunt when the flesh moves on
And the clouds block out the rays
this song is timeless
I think Periphery broke music, they wrote a pop influenced song that sounds good.
that's one reason I like their "lighter" songs a ton; they make pop structure sound AMAZING.
If they aren't confusing you with their polyrhythmic djent riffs, they're making pop sound good and tolerable with their sound.
And using actual instruments, instead of a space-bar.
@@treehann when another genre out-genre's the original genre
I have no idea why but this is hands down my favorite song off of Alpha! I like it as much as I liked Scarlet off of P2. I am so excited to hear Omega!
I hear a lot of coheed and cambria on some of these newer songs
Not too bad, never heard of these guys till today and was quite surprised... 2 thumbs up for me.
I wanted to buy the albums on its their release date, but sadly the only store that had it was sold out, so. Now I will give in and listen to the whole album here. The store told me itd take a week to get more so. I'll be back there in a week
love this one, it's so different, but it's still great music
Yesyes
This album is like 3 steps backwards from PI and PII, and maybe even 5 steps backwards from Clear, my personal favorite.
Well now i'm just imagining all the guys in this band trying to moonwalk, thanks a lot lol
Your opinion means absolutely nothing
thesubliminalhorizon Neither does yours.
Longrod Von Hugendong I stated no opinion, its okay everyone has the occasional delusion. HERE'S my opinion: If you honestly think Juggernaut is 3 steps back from say II, then I guess you're one of those snobs that get butthurt anytime a group shows diversity or creativity within their writing. This particular song is more of a ballad yes, but they didn't write this concept album to make every song as heavy as possible, they wrote it to tell a story. I mean whatever you can have your own opinion and not like it, but saying its 3 steps back from their old work with no support as to why you think that makes you sound like a butthurt moron.
he already told you that your opinion doesn't matter, so why state it?
That intro riff is just so...ugh
Been dying to hear this song and holy cow!
I am in love !
Really Heavy songs on Juggernaut, MK Ultra, Four Lights, The Bad Thing, Graveless, Hell Below and Omega.
Periphery❤
Holy smoking jesus, this is out of my mind.
2:49 definitely sounds like Atreyu's The Theft. Also, on a lot of the songs on this CD, Spencer sounds like Nate from Finch. Especially the beginning of The Scourge.
Mind blown
Amazing...
The Bulb is strong in this one.
I just realized the influence of Question! by SOAD here
Spencer's the best
"Love the music, hate the vocals"
This comment section in a nutshell.
***** :(
***** I love the vocals and the music. Periphery is awesome.
***** Its the sad fact about metalheads. We are massively opinionated. Get a death metal guy and he will probably think Death Metal is king and everything is shit. Get a proghead, same thing. How dare those lesser bands use standard 4/4!?
It's just the way it is. The fanbase has always what has been what is murdering metal slowly. Not the bands.
Mike Scanlan it’s progsnob get it straight lol
@@mikescanlan4653 grunge killed rock and nu-metal killed metal. At least in mainstream anyways.
Should have been their first single
This song is just so damn beautiful. Good on you Periphery. Good on you ;)
Im revisiting here in april 2019 thinking the same
Bwahahahaha @ 1:28. sounds like "Butt-fighting isn't easy". Anyone else picture people fighting with their butts??
It seems that only the metal elitists that are the periphery "fans" can hear this band play multiple styles of music and not be pleased with anything.
THIS SONG IS IN 9/8 WHAT THE FUCK
9/8 actually isn't that uncommon of a time signature
Schism-Tool
Sorry to burst your bubble.
Michael Smith also jambi by tool. that song obviously blew my mind as well
haha yeah, well a lot of songs by tool to be honest, but schism is known for its crazy time signatures. but yeah, jambi is definitely up there
This ain't your grandad's Blue Rondo ala Turk
The scourge alternates between 4/4 and 7/8 (or 15/8 sometimes 7/8 the others)
That was fucking beautiful.
HH2 yeeeeaaaa
awesome sauce! my fav from alpha/omega so far \m/ \m/
Scarlet referenced in this song, Illuminati confirmed.
🎶🎶
I love Spencer's voice hate me.
My biggest critique of Spencer's voice on this album is the way he seems to begin every stanza with an exaggerated, inarticulate clipping of the first syllable.
Like the first line here, "Wwrr(!!)echsperience" it's just feels a little too forced, in my opinion.
That may be the style the band has decided to go for, but I think the songs would be better for it, if he were to enunciate his phrases with clarity and not attempt to be raspy, or edgy, Idk.
Just an opinion.
No offense taken. I love Spencer and this whole double album, but have to admit his vocal manners seem a little ridiculous even to me sometimes.
FIGHTING ISN'T EASEHH~
Butt fighting isn't easy.
I learned to play that clean part from Misha with his mexican strat when he uploaded that studio update, but I can hear he changed it a bit. Awesome ^^
USA '59 Vintage Strat son.
Misha Mansoor Misha, where do I pre-order the album on vinyl and cds for Europe?
Adrian Gougov Impericon.
Misha Mansoor whelp thanks for the correction
Misha Mansoor Murica.
coheed?
Wow. Can't believe this video is 1 year old.
This album feels like prog pop punk to me
Misha Mansoor I was wrong. This album fucking rocks. Please accept my guitar and hair as an offering and apology.
Oh jesus..Give us an instrumental version!
Please, I've just haven't dug Spencer's voice or melodies since the first album.
there is always that one person...
jimmygee5
Oh yes, sorry, I totally forgot that I am not allowed to express my opinion is a respectful manner.
So sorry for that. Next time I'll be sure to consult your before I express any opinion's of my own!
Seriously.. great contribution!
My comment wasn't directed to you.
jimmygee5 Cryptopsy666 Don't understand why people still follow a band so closely if they hate the vocals that much. Debut album vocals were the best, in nearly everyone's opinion, but these are in no way bad..
