/ THE HYPNOTIST / LYRICS:
These blackholes in my hands, so endless, swallowing everything that I see. This open wound in my chest, so endless. Devour me. Shameful desire, spreading like a wildfire. You’ve seen it yourself. Devour me. Sickening shameful desire, spreading like a wildfire. You’ve seen it yourself. My body's breaking down. My spirit is submissive. Broken memories consume me. Distance grows between you and I. Discord unforeseen. Won't you just say what you mean for the last time? Say what you mean tonight. This open wound in my chest, so endless, is rapidly expanding. Broken memories consume me. Time slips away, and we're left here writing off the memories we saved. I go far away, and leave you here writing off the memories we saved. Return to me, reconciled when we collide. Return to me, with full force in every stride. Life falls fast as time slips away. Return to me, reconciled when we collide. Sometimes our darker side grows hypnotizing, pleading for release. Consciences out of touch, with love subsiding, needing set free. We're writing off memories as time slips away. Welcome to the free world, with consciences out of touch. You know when a love so full fades away, you ponder things lost between time and this hollow space. You ponder what you can't replace, and your mind recalls her face.
Erra. A very under appreciated band.
Same with the afterimage. They're amazing
+Anthony Morado You could say they're und-erra-ted
+Josip Andy Eshegovich ...nailed it :'(
+divinasion Check out their albums Impulse and Augment
4,000 thumbs up and 382,000 views???? I don't know about under appreciated dude... try Concensus Down, Atomship, Bionic Jive, Shuvel, THAT'S under appreciated music.
This is it. Melodically rounded, interesting rhythms, intricate musicianship, realistic sounding vocals, and sound balance between dirty and clean. I'm so stoked on this. I'm into ERRA now more than ever.
I 100% agree
This is their best album
Only just discovered them. Are their other tracks good?
@@Unstable_Diffusion89 Yes! Check out Augment, that's my favorite album
Impulse still my favourite
4:00 is top tier musicianship. how on earth they managed to come up with something so intricate and bone-chilling is something i'll never understand
im so fucking happy this song exists. that FUCKING RIFF AT 4:00 is just RHYTHMICALLY PERFECT WGIWUEHBG
@@mylife1221 Just want to jump on this to say I feel you! I come back to this song time and time again and that part, the screams, cleans and insane guitar licks just send me. Goosebumps every time.
3:59 - 4:21 is far and away my favourite part of any Erra track. Every aspect of those 22 seconds completely encompass why I like Erra so much.
agree completely!
My man is spot on. I feel the same.
Yes, a thousand times yes! It leaves me yearning for more and sad that it's over.
4:06 - 4:10 is my favorite. The riff is real.
I know exactly what you mean :)
I'm listening to this song in honour of my closest big brother named Adib Shahnewaz who passed away on 25th August 2020. He was a true metalhead ❤️ Keep him in your prayers.
My favorite song on the album atm. I usually don't like longer songs, but they really do killer closings just like 'Dementia' from Augment. I only recently learned how to appreciate Dementia too.
Dementia is a masterpiece
:D
lol
+Hansol 6 minutes is a long song?
+Christian Ryle exactly my thought :D
Loving the guitar work on this song!
Noahp
THE FUCKING SOLOS ON THIS ALBUM HOLY SHIT
Lunar Luminesce Demistifyyyyy
This might just be one of ERRAs best songs of ALL time.
one of THE best songs of all time my dude i'm with ya. music is a bridge. we will always be friends because of this song even if we never meet again. o7 salute.
Hybrid earth is the only thing close to this. But this is the move. I almost cried when I heard this shit. Timing. Guitar. Lyrics. 10 out of 10.
The Hypnotist vs The Architect
Dementia is the real n1 masterpiece
This album is absolutely superb. Not only does it bring back classic Erra, but it also adds such a great element. This album proves that emotion in songwriting is still here, and that bands can still make extremely impactful albums. Erra are the masters of making albums that leave you awestruck, and I truly believe this is their greatest work yet. Well done, boys. This is a true masterpiece. My favorite album of 2016 so far, without a doubt.
Omg man this was my 2016 album of the year too. This is their best album without question
This new album is fucking beautiful
your EP too
I finally lost it to this song the other day.
Was in a deep conversation with my ex (who flew all the way from San Francisco to the UK to be with me for a week), and I was on the edge of tears. So I put this song on the TV and it finally broke me, just started sobbing into his chest uncontrollably. I really needed that release. The lyrics also just made sense with how I felt, which is funny because they didn't affect me that much until that day.
"Distance grows between you and I" - the only reason we aren't officially together is because of the distance. "Time slips away, and we're left here writing off the memories we saved" - I think it was at this point where I just broke down. Anyway, time really does feel like it's flown since I've known him, and despite making memories with him now, we're reliving the older ones at the same time. "You know when a love so full fades away, you ponder things lost between time and this hollow space" - I was so sure we would still be an official couple when we met in person, but it's just tragic that we couldn't be that way. Makes me think of all the opportunities we might have missed.
Welp, there you have it. I finally was able to realise just how much this song is a part of me. Sure, it's probably been my favourite song from ERRA for a while, but only now did I come to accept its meaning in relation to my life. It just increased the emotions tenfold for me.
You just described music perfectly, I don't think I would be alive if it wasn't for some song that I love and help me release emotions!
I'm in a pretty similar situation rn, where I couldn't stay with my girlfriend because there was just too much distance between us, and this song means more to me right now than anyone can imagine. I hope you've been doing better.
Can we take a moment to appreciate how beautifully the intro repeats itself after 4:30 ?? These are the things that most people overlook but are the reason I love Erra.
🤘🏻
Prob the best song on this album.
This is one of those albums where every song is the best song ever based on my mood hahahaha.
STUFF LIKE THIS. THIS IS WHY ERRA IS THE BEST.
+Steve Aboagye yup
+Steve Aboagye Yes!!!! OMG I SAW THE DOWNLOADS ON MY ITUNES AND FREAKED OUT lol!
Fuck yeah Steve, Fuck yeah.
So much better with lyrics on hand too now.
+Steve Aboagye I wouldn't say best, but I think they are okay. I liked the album.
2:57 solo is SOOO FUCCCKIING GOOOD
Got back into metal about 3 years ago sad to say I've never heard this song until about a few weeks ago and it is by far one of my favorite songs at this time now.
Listening to this today in memory of my dear friend, Collin, who was found dead in his dorm room yesterday. Love you bro, rest easy. And thank you Erra for creating this masterpiece I can listen to in my time of mourning ❤
Sorry to hear that bud. Hope you’re doing alright.
3:58
Wow… so glad that I randomly came across this AMAZING song. Never even heard of this band! I’m gonna do some more digging, they sound EXCELLENT!!!!
honestly that clean vocal part at 1:47 is so damn good. something about that slight rasp in the high notes just gets me
So good
jesse's vocals peaked at this album, thats for sure.
That outro made me realize how much Peter Parker misses uncle Ben....
i just came and cried at the same time.
This song is goddamn perfect.
+Farhat Hussain Wait, those two are normally mutually exclusive?
+Farhat Hussain I feel u bro!
+Conspiracy Cat I bet you're not even a cat
The guitar rift around 2:58 reminds me of the one in the Tokyo Ghoul theme.
ERRA We meet again
0:26 *these black holes in my*
*A S S H O L E*
Underrated comment
The more i listen to Drift as a whole album the more i really enjoy it. The melodic style and technical aspects are still very much present and the whole theme of the album is meant to be a more sleepy-ish/mellow vibe than the previous albums so its not that they lost their mojo. Its more so that this album is experimenting with new concepts. As much as I'd love another Augment, we got a taste for that with Moments of Clarity. Basically what im saying is variety is good, but its not too far off from what Erra is known for so its very much still distinguishable with their sound.
This song hurts. It's beautiful and poignant to my recent personal struggles. It's my favorite but also hard to listen to.
...bruh!
+asmodia255 +GunnerUnderground feel you dudes... sucks ass.
I feel ya guys.
Jesse absolutely kills it in this song!
ERRA just can't make a bad song, I'm pretty sure about it.
and suddenly I saw myself head-banging while my student where looking at me through my office's window
+Pablo Andres López Silva Teachers for metal unite!
You know it's like this:
Some albums you hear make you go, ok I'll download that for free no prob
Other albums like this make you say. FUCK ME. ILL PAY FULL PRICE FOR THAT ALBUM!!!
From epic solo, to epic breakdown, into epic solo again. 10/10 would listen again (and again).
dude new oh, sleeper this year
Clif Redhouse The hype train is real!
One of the best songs they've ever written, great closer.
/r/metalcore represent!
Erra release and spring break? Can it get better?
That solo at 4:21 gave me the positive vibes I've been looking for.
I'm with you man that part gave me chills
They are great live and this is a great signing for Sumerian
Was worried about the new vocalist at first...
I think this song hypnotized me into forgetting such worries.
if you like him check out Texas in july
4:20 fuck. this sounds like it's coming from another dimension. This shit is definitely not human
this song made me cry
I'll grow old, forget many. But I'll never forget this album by Erra
This is up there with render the void. Such an amazing end to this album
+DareToShine Render is def my fav ERRA song. What an experience.
3:56 onward is honestly incredible. Interstellar.
Time slips away, and we're left here writing off the memories we saved
I go far away, and leave you here writing off the memories we saved
I dont usually post in the comments but im not maybe the only one that got touched so emotionally with this song, i dunno this song makes want to live more so i can love and enjoy more every moment of my life. Congrats Guys!
+Sergio Ayala Man.. that's amazing! Good to see other people being deeply touched by this genre of music. Awesome avatar pic btw. I love VoM's Matriarch as well :)
Song is superb but that ending is tops
This song is an absolute masterpiece. I can’t believe that it exists, it just melts off my feelings every time it plays...
I never thought I'd hear lead screamer fromTexas in July again! I never heard of this band and stumbled upon them in iTunes yesterday.. If you have never heard of Texas, look them up.. All of their shit is good but the last 2 albums are amazing. So happy to see he found his way to a great band!!!!
2:58 -> 3:52 - *best minute of the whole album in my opinion!*
+Javed C Holy fuck, just discovered this band. Goosebumps from the first sound I ever heard of them.
Thomas
Yeah I discovered them a few months ago, I was abit put off at first with some of the 'unachievable' cleans, but after hearing tracks such as 'Ultraviolet', 'Dementia' and 'Seven'. I was hooked haha!
+Thomas Listen to their first two albums Augment and Impulse, you will jizz everywhere lol
+Javed C crazy thing is Jesse Cash's vocals are incredible live.
Yeah exactly, I was blown away by them!StarShredder777
I remember listening to them back in the 8th grade. Their songs still slap today \m/
Underrated comment
actually if you listen closely this album has God all over it. listen to the lyrics. He is calling
I still go for this album. More so than the others. I hate myself for it, but i just love the melodies on this record. Love. It. The Orchid, Safe Haven and The Hypnotist r by far my favorite.
@@damienrichards9743 one night i was down and lining to this album. I heard the sound of a trumpet . Thet night i saw 2. One in a horse and another man in light . He had short white curly hair bronze skin short white curly beard and when he left it sounded like he took the storm with him and i heard hundreds of voices singing
Amazing skyline and luminese alpha seed breach hybrid earth and this one are my favs
This is such a great song. I always find myself singing the "Return to me" section in my head hehe. Very Catchy!
Jesse Cash = Jesus Christ
+djjazzek HA
Even better to me( no offense)
blasphemy
True...True.
cmon man ... :D
These guys are onto something. Every song I hear by them is beautiful. This is modern metal done right
so good
Im so happy rn
OK, so I just finished listening to the whole album. My thoughts are Luminesce is a great song. Irreversible through Orchid are alright. They have some good parts but feel forced onto the album. In my honest opinion Drift is the best song on the album, hands down. Then, the second half of the album is where the meat is. Great song with great grooves and feels. Who knows? Maybe the few song I didn't really care for will grow on me. It has happened before, so it's a possibility. I only listen to prog metal thanks to my friend. He force feed me Periphery and Born of Osiris for like a year before I finally got into them. So, we will see
Periphery? Love that shit.
Awesome, definitely. 😭💽🎧📀
the person I like loves this band so much that is why I am listening to it too.
"Won't you just say what you mean for the last time?"
I like you for almost 3 years now (:
NEVER CLICKED ON SOMETHING SO FAST
Jesse's part at 1:46 gives me chills every time. Erra comes with the feels every track, impeccable melodies and lyrics. Some of their best work yet huehuehue!
Upload this album on Spotify please!
Or just buy it? They won't make shit off Spotify.
+Alex Gryadunov It'll get uploaded eventually, but you should really consider buying it.
$8-$12 for n album is cheap. just buy it.
+ricardomavs817 So is the spotify membership haha! But, regardless, ill buy it for these fellas, they provide me with too much head bobbing not to extend that thank you...
They haven't even released the new ATB on Spotify yet -_-
The guitar work on this album is incredible. Once again pushing the boundaries of creativity, God I love this band!
I love this song soooo much. The guitar work is superior. I can listen to this song and it's just as great everytime as it was when I heard the first time! ERRA FOREVER!!!
I think these guys are genius. They reinvigorated metal for me. It was getting pretty cut and dry. the guys i grew up changed their sound to appeal to masses, but these guys reinvented the wheel. The riffs, the range of screams, and even fking guitar solos again. I'm thankful for being exposed to them. they've been the soundtrack to my life for the last year.
3:58 the fucking guitars in this part sound amazing
This album is lightyears better than Neon
5:36 seeeeeeeet aaaapaaaaarrrt innnn th vvvvoiiiiddddd. Haha old Impulse feels.
I miss a month on UA-cam and suddenly miss like 10 sick releases lol
That outro tapping riff is so intricately beautiful
Wonder why there isn’t a music video for this gold.
2:11
Evil Ryu looking into the water and sees a reflection of his normal self
recommended by ABR...not bad at all
try misery signals instead
+hussguy1990 try misery by slaughter to prevail instead aha
+crown of lies meh, neo nazi vocalist aside that band wasn't horrible but amazing, if I'm listening to something that intense it has to have flavor like Cattle decapitation or cephalic carnage
+hussguy1990 horrible or amazing*
I feel yah on that
1:02 is awesome, kinda got cut off a little early imo.
This song will always make me feel a certain way that I could never truly describe in words.
I replay that outro an unhealthy amount
Oh my god. That tapping riff at 4:21
❤️🤘🏻❤️
The album cover is very familiar to me, I think it looks like Oceans Ate Alaska's album
The old harp synths would have been perfect for the ending
all of u must know this:
this is the best piece created by ERRA
My 3rd favourite Erra's Song 🥰🤘
The fucking outro just sends me somewhere else.
So another odd case of a band releasing the worst songs as singles from what is actually quite a strong album.
Maybe in your opinion. Drift is close to the best song they've ever released in my opinion. Very melodic, catchy, a departure from their old sound while still keeping their identity. Up there with Dementia for me. Also, loved Hourglass and Orchid. Thought Luminesce was the weakest by their standards but still a great song.
+Salvatration Halex Luminesce is one of my personal favorites and I think that Orchid is solid too.
***** weird I love it
+Salvatration Halex so true
+Matthew Olson Yeah, I like when they release the shitty songs too. Makes the full release that much more satisfying and suprising
Fucking masterpiece.
I just jizzed everywhere!!
I could see it in the comments
+Miguel Martinez yess
+Inigo montoya 😂😂
this is fucking beautiful
The GOAT Ogre 2 recommended this...I'm eternally thankful
+Sirzechs Azazel It's cool seeing two major hobbies/interests overlap. I didn't know Ogre 2 listened to metal.
+Shadow8P He listens to a lot a lot of things, but he loves Erra. Stop by his stream some time and chances are he'll have Erra in the background
Damn isn't that the halo pro with like 25 tourney wins? That's sick!
+Shadow8P Yeah that sounds more like it. I watch a lot of Esports and haven't seen a SINGLE person listen to this style of music
Joshh Rowsell Yeah. He's the most successful player in the history of esports, not just halo. I did say GOAT for a reason lol. Too bad he retired like a week ago.
I love ERRA
HOLY FUCK TEACH ME TO SING LIKE HIM PLZ
Does anyone else think that the part after the 4:55 is the best fucking eargasmic thing ever! :D
2:11 is so beautiful @.@
I jizzed my pants at 4:05
Guitars are very reminiscent of Invent, Animate. Its awesome to see bands that often play and work together rub off on each other in writing style.
Song still slaps
Fuck I love this
Anyone else hear that funky guitar slide/bounce thingy at 4:07??
Their best song period.
This song is absolutely beautiful. The ending with the ooo's and instrumentals gave me chills.
