equipped lifting is like testing your vertical on a trampoline
Yeah, and comparing it to other people on the same trampoline.
@@Vault_Metal But why use the trampoline in the first place?
@@mbgmail5911 because an entirely different sport than jumping not on a trampoline
If you think it's that easy why don't you try it, he definitely benches more raw then you ever will in your lifetime. This channel is about seeing big lifts if you don't like seeing big lifts then this is not the channel for you
Still impressive if everyone is jumping 5ft and a guy comes with a 25ft jump
Seeing the ROM, belly size and the evolution of suits, we will see a 700Kg equiped bench in the next decade. Admitting someone can balance 700Kg above his chest.
If the shirt technology keeps advancing, that could be very possible. It looks like that shirt was designed by NASA engineers. Back in my day (mid 80's) we had a polyester Inzer Blast Shirt that assisted maybe 5%.
rather within 1-2years. iirc the first 500kg equipped bench was barely 2 years ago?
I give it end of 2025 tops for a 700 kg equipped bench. With small ROM.
Should just add robot arms to lift it for him, 10,000kg lift.
Technically the weight he can lift is limited by the suit and only the suit. If a suit had a tension capable of assisting in 1000kg there's no reason to even have any skill. It can basically zero it out
Damn, spotters all need to warm up and belt up.
hahhahah true
Spotters need deadlift suits lmao
Say what you like about equipped being cheating but you would need to be ballsy to get under that much weight. Even the slight rerack issue at the end looked like the spotters were struggling to handle it. If he suddenly lost the lift I don't think you can physically fit enough spotters around the bar to stop it.
Probably gain more relative strength from it too
Crazy that equipped bench is the heaviest amongst the equipped deadlift and squat
When you think about it, it's not crazy. In bench, the equipment (bench shirts, slingshots, etc.) directly translates the force put into it by the weight going down into spring action to put it back up. It's super direct unlike with what equipment can do for squats and deadlifts. Also the ROM is ridiculous right there.
Most effected by equipment and shortest rom
Equipped lifting is kinda pointless imo
Well, (single-ply and multi-ply) equipped lifting is just a different type of powerlifting. Raw is raw and equipped is equipped. Both has its pros and cons but at the end of the day its really just which one you enjoy more
@@MedievalSolutionsexactly. Equipped bench is less like using a squat suit and more like using 600lbs of reverse bands. Sure at the top you have to hold/support an immense amount of weight, but at the bottom of the lift nearly half the weight is being supported by the equipment.

I don't know what to think about equipped benching. It's obviously impressive and the lifter's bones must have become quite dense to hande that amount of load. But in the video it looks like he has a harder time to bring the weight down to his chest than to push up the weight because there is so much resistance coming from the slingshot. The warmup sets are more like rows than bench presses.
Raw and equpied are two completely different divisions which require two different set of skills and techniques. Equpied is much harder than raw.

Still not on par with raw record holders
Don't know that he has ever maxed out raw but he did 405 for 20 reps raw, with Reverse grip.

"I never understand skiing, if you're not gonna slide down on your butt, might as well use a snow mobile."
"I never understand car racing. If you're not gonna run, might as well use an airplane to become as fast as possible."
I think you get the point.
Watching someone do an extremely heavy equipped bench is like watching someone pull an airplane. Sure it's extremely hard and may require years of specialized training but you have to ask, how much is the person actually lifting?
What do you mean by "actually lifting" ? He just lifted +600kgs of equipped bench press.
The problem with the vicious toxicity of the trolls here is that they don't realise that equipped lifting is a different sport to raw lifting, with a different skill set and should be treated as such. Either way, for the pathetic trolls, get under this weight. Lock it out 1mm. Hold it for a tenth of a second. Don't die. I'll bet you can't. Ffs I doubt any of you could hold half this weight without snapping your twig arms. Stop bitching and let him do what he's doing. It doesn't hurt you and watching someone push the limits should be admired, not ripped on
🤡

As a veteran powerlifter who competed "raw" for over 8 years and have moved to "equipped", I can say my body loves it and the amount of protection provided is phenomenal! I know some people say equipped lifting is not lifting, but assisted. My "raw" bench was around 365 and I hit 600 in a meet 2 Ply and 735 in a 3 Ply (training). Raw is 80% power / 20% technique, "equipped" is the inverse. This is night and day when trying to compare. For the record, age 52 and 275# weight class.
Your body loves equipped lifting because it's not actually working hard lol

Equipped bench is a joke
You don’t have to like or understand equipped lifting to respect it. Jimmy is doing insane things, truly an amazing bench presser. And for those wondering, he’s repped in the 600s raw with a reverse grip (if I’m not mistaken reverse grip raw translates more to equipped benching)
So he can actually bench press half this weight is what you are saying. You show this to the average person who doesnt know terms like “equipped” and “slingshot” and they will laugh if you call that a bench press. Im more impressed he could pull the weight down with the steel strap pulling his arms together.
@@kevinwheeler5595 Who gives a fuck what the average person thinks. These guys don’t do it for validation from some internet randoms. He still benches 600+lbs raw.
@@AnabolicRick915 I never said you should care what they think. The point is if the average guy would laugh at you calling that a bench press then its not a bench press. You can explain away and justify whatever aspect of the hobby you want. Nobody but the people that do it consider it a bench press
@@kevinwheeler5595 thank you for giving everyone your expertise as a world-class competitor and judge, truly a god among men
@@kevinwheeler5595 considering this is defined by the only sport or anything ever that has a defined set of rules for bench press as a bench press, it is a bench press.
And you’re truly inexperienced if you think there is a meaningful difference in how much someone can bench raw if they can bench this much equipped
That bar travelled like 3 inches.
“Cool, what’s his raw tho?” Is equal to saying to a race car driver how fast he can drive a quarter mile on a moped
He caught a glimpse of death when they missed the rerack on one side
"But what can he bench raw?"
No clue, that's not his sport or what he competes in.
"Why does he use a shirt? That's stupid"
Because that's the division he competes in. Against other people who bench in shirts.
"He could never do that raw"
And? Your point is? Once again, not the point.
"That's cheating"
If he was trying to say this was raw and was competing against people who were raw, yes. But he's not.
"The shirt is lifting it for him"
He still has to hold that and his bones still have to support it.
"Look at that range of motion"
Kolb is over 300lbs, that's a lot of man. And the point isn't to lift the weight as far as possible. It's to lift the heaviest weight possible.
"I think it's stupid"
Cool. Good for you. Ignore it.
The most common things I see trying to "refute" or discredit equipped benches.
I don't get why people get so butt hurt about equipt lifting ? It's ENTIRELY a DIFFERENT sport than raw . It's like comparing top fuel NHRA drag cars to the street legal guys, then shitting on the top fuel guys being faster.. end of the day the dudes training and competing how he wants , and yall are but hurt on the internet
Equipped lifting is completely useless. It is not a different sport, just a group of dummies seeing how many elastic bands they can strap to themselves to lift more weight than they actually can. Its like doing 200 pull ups on the pull up assistance machine set at 200lbs, well done...
@@atodaso1668 If the records are in different divisions then who cares?
@@Dirtkid98505 Because its not really a record? If a new lifting bra/elastic band comes out that can take more of the weight is that a record for the athlete or the elastic band? I would say the elastic band since the athlete isn't lifting more weight, the elastic band is just taking more of it.
The reason raw is the only respected lift is there are no variables, its pure apples to apples. No this guy has a 2 ply record, this guy has the 3 ply and a bra record, this guy has the 2 bras and 2 suits record etc it just gets stupid and it looks dumb AF. You may as well just start injecting oil, its the same level of stupidity in my eyes.
@@atodaso1668 But they're all in their own classes. If everyone is in the same regulated gear per division then its how much can the lifter do with that amount of gear. This bench press record isnt taking away from any raw, single, or multiply record. Meh. Id rather see more trt larry than more equipped lifting.
So the suit lifts at least 1/2 the weight
At the bottom it does lift about half, yes.
It helps much less at the top though.
Equipped lifting kinda seems like a relic of the 2000s. In a sport almost entirely based on numbers, the technological jumps make it impossible to compare “eras” even more so than in most sports so I’d be surprised if anyone really cares. The single-ply suits that Louie Simmons and the Westside guys were using in the early days were light years behind the super-elasto Kevlar reboundo 5000 stuff they have now. What does a 1,300 pound bench even mean?
If you want to have raw vs equipped lifting, it should be about elbow sleeves, wrist wraps, knee sleeves, knee wraps, weight belts. And that stuff should be standardized and codified for the next 100 years like baseball bats in MLB. It shouldn’t be a free for all like golf clubs but at least with golf there’s a ton more skill involved.
i have question to people who talk "if i will use shirt i will be able to do huge numbers", have u ever benching with shirt? do u know how hard is fighting with it? i guess no so shut your mouth and dont complain about guy who did something unhuman, because u will never be able to be even close to numbers that guy putting

I have a friend who competed in equipped bench press. His suit was so tight the barbell couldn't even reach his chest and they had to add weight.
I don’t really keep up with equipped lifting much but it’s always these moments where I’m like “GODDAMN!” I wanna get there
That must be so stressful, mentally and physically. Well done!!!

These guys should just become crane operators.
A very impressive equipment and technique as he had to pull the weight to his chest and the range of motion was practically to zero.
Bravo, bravo!
The spotter needing a belt to lift off is wild.
Wrists must be hurting so bad after that haha
the shirts have gotten better.
Shame that tilts just the equipment getting better and better that’s making the records increase
The fact that this is higher than the deadlift record shows you just how screwed up the sport is. There's nothing satisfying about watching that bench. You can see the hydraulic lifts built into that shirt and how big his belly is in the fact that his spotter has to position his hands and he has a hard time getting the bar to even touch his damn chest. It's crazy all around but especially due to the danger.
Insane but his previous record looked better 💯

His last official raw bench is 451lbs. He’s repped out 600+ raw though with reverse grip

It’s all over if that slingshot breaks
Let’s take a moment to acknowledge the spotter’s thighs about to rip thru the seams of his jeans 🤣
That is amazing!
Man may be very strong but Equipped is somewhat like a circus act.

Death on a barbell. Kind of nuts to think about how precarious that situation is. At least with raw lifting you know it's roughly within your limits to handle that weight. In equipped it can be certain death if that suit fails him.
Idk what looks more ridiculous the insane arch bench with 0 ROM or the massive belly equiped 0 ROM
This was done with 3 spotters - says it all
Just so u guys know the shirt launches the weight of the chest but the rest is mostly tricep strength
When are exo suits gonna be used in equipped lifting…
