I've just bought my first necrons and was planning to paint them following your photo guide. Now I can see exactly how you painted them on video. :D Thank you!
This is so great. Thank you for sharing. I have never seen the layer up technique for the glow before. I will be using that. Now, if you wouldn’t mind sharing how you do Necron energy blades… ha. Thanks again.
Really great video mate. I've literally just started my Necron army and this is exactly what I've been looking for. The glow effect and chipping is simply amazing. As someone else asked - I'd love to see how you go about doing the blades and orbs etc. Subbed and looking forward to seeing more. Thank you and take care.
This is great, thank you for sharing. You can probably get a boost in speedy by flipping the order of the armor and metals. Use a sponge for the first layer of chipping and then add the depth of the chip with the second color by brush.
Very interesting to see your new technique for painting them versus your original one, with the chipping medium and I believe all Citadel paints? How do the final models compare? The green glow seems a lot more poppy! What about the rest of the armour and metallics? What drove you to change? is this much quicker to complete? It'd be very keen for further videos showing aspects of other models, like the glowing blades and any other unique features!
Cheers! I found I didn’t like the lack of control over the chipping effect with the actual chipping medium. Also with the dual layer chips you get more depth and it just looks better. As for the glow I wanted to have a much brighter glow, so I made the change to the fluorescents. I’ve been going back and doing the older models by taking my airbrush and’ adding a layer of fluorescent ink
Thanks for sharing! It looks really awesome. Out of all the glows I've seen, this is the one I like the most. I am a complete beginner... Any help is appreciated⬇ Do you think this glow will look as good in the classic SAUTEK color scheme? Besides the paints, what else do I need to buy to follow the tutorial? What brushes do i need and what is he using to hold the mini, etc.?
Great work. I have been a fan of your work for a long while now. Do you have any equivalent paints from the Citadel range? I am not in a position to go out and buy a new brand of paint so would like to see if possible to use some of what i have. Thanks!
I tried a dozen different techniques for the weapon glow and I like yours the best! I’m adding a very fine edge highlight on the barrel around the orbs with AK Laser Yellow which i think looks good. Are you thinning the Liquitex ink when you airbrush it?
I love your style. After painting death guard and their chipped up vehicles I think this will be a perfect transition to a new army. I have a question though. Would it be worth using ak worn effect to achieve the chipping? Or is it better to have more control over where the chips are?
So initially used this product, but the chipping was too random and large sometimes. This lead me to having to go back and fix those areas. It became easier to just do the chipping by hand.
@col.festus yeah that's what I thought. Thank you for the reply. I got a bottle of it and finally used it on some vehicles. And I really like it. But I was worried about the small size of the necrons with it. Well good time to try my hand at it more
@col.festus sorry to bug you again. I'm following this tutorial. I had a question about the rakarth flesh stage. Yours seems a lot more grey than mine. Mine is very flesh tone. Is it I didn't water it down enough? Or have they changed the flesh colour? If they have changed it is there another colour you might suggest? I love that matte metalic look. I have a couple Grey's I could use. But curious what you might do
Awesome! Question! I'm an absolute airbrush noob and would like to buy one JUST to prime my Necrons like you do. Do I need to add things to the Citadel Air paints? Any more tips?
for some reason, your paint job reminds me of the hive from destiny maybe you could name your dynasty after a hive brood from the game !! iv done my necron army to replicate the vex from destiny 😊
So I did a bit of a deep dive on your instagram and noticed you have a weathering tutorial that seems to achieve the same chipping affect illustrated in this video - is that a correct assumption?
My personal pet-peeve is OSL hitting surfaces that are turned away from the light source. It looks like the light source is in front of your necron, not the actual glowing bits. This is a great paint job otherwise and it won't matter on the table where you won't even see it, but I just cringe inside every time when people just smush the glow effect everywhere in the general area of the glow. Think about sunrise. You don't get any direct light on the ground until the actual disk of the sun rises above the horizon. The reason why you get twilight at dawn at all is because the atmosphere refracts the light and the clouds reflect it - but there's none of that on the scale of a necron unless he's planet-sized and has an atmosphere around him
That is so freeking crisp. I love all of your painting work. Thank you for sharing how you painted these necrons!
Cheers!

That glow looks amazing, even before the airbrush part. I am definately trying this!
I've long loved your painting and especially loving seeing these guides! Thank you! ❤

I used to use the sponge chipping, but I disliked the lack of control I had over it.
Very nice. Can't wait to try out the green glow effect
Cheers!
Totally going to try your scheme to try something very different from what i usually do. Looks great.
Cheers!
Yay finally can't wait to watch this and begin my army painting
Enjoy!

I don’t, sorry
Amazing video ! you make things like easier to paint thanks to your great explanations. Do you plan to do a video for the necron's blades too ?
Yup! I have to paint up another lord that has Rez orb and blade, I’ll be doing tactical tips for each
@@col.festus Pure dope, may the Silent King bless you !
bro these videos are great! Come back to make more!
Had some real life issues, got a new job things are getting better. Got everything set up for more :) keep your eyes peeled

Awesome! Glad to hear it. I shoot it straight undiluted :)
What do you use for your basing material? Love the really rocky look.
Thanks! It’s just pavers ballast from Home Depot
Hi Cannot seem to find the Liquitex Flo Green ink? Is it the "lime" one? Would that work? Thanks. Excellent job that I want to copy by the way :)

Really good job mate! one question: What material did you use for the base rock / sand effect? Thank you
I usually use pavers sand. Comes in a big bag from Home Depot. It’s the sand they use between paving stones
did you spray on the ribcage also or was it only the coils on the gun ??? absolute stunning glow effect !
Just coils on the gun
Really cool paint job. I'm a new sub 👍
Cheers!
Awesome! Question! I'm an absolute airbrush noob and would like to buy one JUST to prime my Necrons like you do. Do I need to add things to the Citadel Air paints? Any more tips?
Yes, definitely thin your paints. Vallejo airbrush thinner is nice
Could you tell me which white ink you used please? Or which ink brand in general and possibly add a link for one? Many thanks!
Sure! Daler-Rowney FW Acrylic Ink... www.amazon.com/dp/B004O7G1FI?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
What basing material did you use?
Pavers sand
How would do this scheme without the use of a airbrush?
Can just do a heavy dry brush of the rakarth flesh
for some reason, your paint job reminds me of the hive from destiny maybe you could name your dynasty after a hive brood from the game !! iv done my necron army to replicate the vex from destiny 😊
Merci pour la vidéo
very nice
🥂
So I did a bit of a deep dive on your instagram and noticed you have a weathering tutorial that seems to achieve the same chipping affect illustrated in this video - is that a correct assumption?
Yeah, I stopped using the chipping fluid cause I could t control the chipping very well
nice :)
great video bro (when is the tutorial to paint skorphekh????)💀💀💀
Some point :) I’ll have to do a tactical tip on just the blades
Yeses I'm new ,necrons are faction I'm going with ,kill team and combat patrol ,this is the video for me
Enjoy! If you’re new check out my fundamentals video for tips on building plastic models!

Fair, but I’m going for something that is quick but looks good on the table, not ultra realism
