I've said this before, but Cremia is my favorite character of the entire franchise. She stands out so much from Malon despite being the same character model. And as an older brother to a little boy myself, it'd be so hard to go through what she does on the final day, getting your sibling drunk so they don't suffer in the end.
Same! Cremia was given a lot more character exposure than Malon ever has been. Cremia is love, Cremia is life.
She gave link more than Malon ever could a "special hug"

This mission is more important to me personally than the Anju and Kafei story (though that is a very close second). The fact that this story's outcome isn't horrifying until after you see what inaction leads to, a lobotomized child, a destroyed family business, and grim final moments of emptiness, that's much more heartbreaking to me. Maybe it's because I'm an older brother myself. And the fact the ending to this quest is bittersweet, with Romani being shielded from the truth by having the best night of her life, a night she literally fought for, and her sister is only there to make sure it's the best night of her life, is so depressing, but you at least know it's better than the alternative. Anju and Kafei get a happy ending, whether you stop the moon or not. Cremia is just happy to be alive the next day with her sister.
The Cremia hug is actually a somber moment, not a horny one. You have to remember, Link has never been hugged before, not even by his own mother because she died when he was a baby. He even ran away from the Goron hug in OoT. What you are seeing is the first time Link has received a hug.
Also, Link agrees to live on the ranch with Romani and Cremia. Romani even offers to give him her bed. It's likely that the Hero of Time lived the rest of his life with them, especially since it is confirmed that the Hero's Shade being him is just a fan theory, not canon.
Not them but their counter part Malon, there are a couple if hints that supports that
It's confirmed that the Hero's shade is indeed OoT Link and TP Link is his descendant. (It also implies that OoT Link did get together with Malon in the child timeline since TP Link is a farmhand and knows Epona's song)
@@kiraragirl200 Its actually debunked as a fan theory based on him being left handed. Page 279 of the Historia states that the idea that Hero's Shade is actually HoT is just a fan theory held by some people. Also, it's never said in Twilight Princess that the Shade is HoT, and the is a large amount of evidence against it.
@@hintonempire1178 not a fan theory and was Aonuma himself that say the hero shade was HoT and you can't get more canon than that. Also I think you are talking about Hyrule encyclopedia, but that work is not canon, is filled with omitions and interpretations, hell they say that Majora's mas was a dream, while it was Aonuma again in 2015 that say that it really happened, so again I will go with the dev statements.
@@juliox9 Read the book. It literally says it's a fan theory on page 179. Aonuma never said that at all, plus it's not in the game either. None of the books are canon.

This was another well made and sad video. Not as much of a tearjerker as Tragedy of Time, but it was still sad.
Yeah tbh I didn't know if I was gonna make the soundtrack just typical Zelda tracks like the Romani Ranch/Lon Lon Ranch themes or go with a more emotional soundtrack, and ended up do a bit of both depending on the mood of the script. Tragedy of Time was definitely more of an attempt at a tearjerker 😅
While people believe that Twilight Princess is the darkest title in the franchise, Majora’s Mask is the wisest. The perspective you’ve showcased onto Cremia’s life has given us an insight on her life filled with sorrow, sadness, and difficulties. Yet I admire her bravery to keep waking up and doing what must be done.
I think it was a very interesting side story that Nintendo put in that title.

TP might be the most adult, but MM is the most mature
MM is definitely the darkest, even now.
It's darkness is just a more...subtle sort.
While there are moments of blatant tragedy and pain, most of Termina's worst woes aren't as obvious.
There's just this...pervasive shadow over nearly every meaningful interaction in the game. The Brave Swordsman who cowers at the end, the Postman torn between duty and fear, Kafei's mother quietly searching for her lost son, awaiting a letter at the apocalypse, a guard so forgotten that he can't get help, a man paying you for a house with a big basement so he can hide from the moon...
While you can make their situations improve, and the ending is honestly one of the best and most hopeful endings in Zelda's history...That shadow covers the entire land, as constant as the very moon bringing the end-of-days...you might not think about it, but all you need to do is just take a look for you to remember.
When her story is put together and told like this, it really is tragic. The storytelling in Majora's Mask and in this video is really good. Thanks for the video!
Wow. Poor Cremia. Majora's mask is one of my favorite Zelda games. I had been playing this so many times because I love playing it but I seriously never thought that Cremia was one of the most tragic characters until now. I've always thought that the Skull Kid placed a boulder there as a joke but come to think of it. It wasn't the Skull kid since Cremia's life was already difficult. It would've been the Gorman Brothers since they wanted to sabotage her business. And Cremia doesn't deserved to be slandered just because she had a crush on Kafei. I've always thought that it was Madame Aroma who she referred as an 'middle aged woman' she mentioned when Link placed Kafei's mask on, but then after putting in two and two together along with a scene between Anju and Anju's mother, I began to realize that it was Anju's mother who she referred to as an 'middle aged woman.' It may never happen or it would never be canon, but I do hope that Cremia finds the happiness she wanted to provide for Romani and herself.
This is a really nice video encapsulating the beauty of their side-quest. To truly get it's full meaning you have to experience both failed/flawed runs, observe them during "perfect" cycles, redo the side-quest after having finished it once and understand the context of the Anju&Kafei story. It is truly a multi-faceted issue and you only get the whole scope by playing the game thoroughly.
I don’t think I knew about the Cremia being in love with Kafei, or I definitely forgot about it. MAN she has it rough. Great video man 👏👏👏

OMG! The feels!! 😭😭 I've played a bit of Majora's mask and I know the general story, but dang. This is just next level. I want her to be happy and protected. I want her best friend to come visit her. I want her to be able to have times where she can be young, and not have to carry everything. 😭😭
Cremia does deserve it all. A headcanon of mine is that once you show the Gorman Brothers the Troupe Leader's mask, their dialogue do seem to acknowledge their wrongdoings to Romani Ranch as they even somewhat admire their middle brother's career choice as an entertainer. Even though after this specific dialogue and the credits scenes don't show more of the Gorman Brothers, I like to believe that after Link saves Termina, the Brothers reconsider their actions and begin to respect Cremia and her ranch or to even joining with her business. I could be wrong about this but this is really just a thought that I had since I just cannot see Cremia continue living a stressful life since the credits scene show both her and her sister Romani geniunely happy (Cremia even shows up to Anju and Kafei's wedding, meaning that while yes it is still hard for her she still cares for her friend and her lover). And I do believe the brothers go through as much as the people of Termina since they do realize their choices hurt others while their middle brother, the Troupe Leader, brings joy and entertainment to others. Amazing video btw, really goes to show how much we can bring out of this game, truly one of my favorite zelda games.
You totally changed my viewpoint on Cremia, I never noticed how tragic her life was before.
I don't think it's any surprise that (while we never see Zelda's Termina doppelganger) Malon's parallel double is the girl you help. Considering who OoT Link likely had feelings for.
Sometimes, I wish some humans had as much development as some game characters do in video games. The couples mask quest reminds me of this side story everytime.
I could go either way if majora is or isn’t a dream. But it makes sense for link to help Romani with a horror not understood and then Cremia with an adult problem. Just like what he failed to do with Malon. And what’s also sad is that these thing would have affected them even if skull kid didn’t cause mayhem.

I wonder what their life would've been like had Link returned to Romani Ranch to stay there after the main story. Even if it was just for a little, to find out this young boy is why Cremia and Romani were still alive come the fourth day. Especially if Cremia found out, once again, that this little boy is the reason her sister is safe, the path is once again open, and the bandits have stopped bothering them, effectively saving her family, her family's business, and their lives. He is the reason her statement of "See you...tomorrow..." actually came true.
I wonder if Link would've been a forgotten hero then...
My favorite part of majoras mask is this story. Really pulls on the heart strings
wow.....I only ever went to the ranch to get the horse and mask....i didn't know they had so much more depth to them...
You really have to dig deep and look at the details in the game. To fully understand Cremia's story. I mean I didn't even know the Gormans were behind the boulder. But it does make sense seeing they want to put her out of business.

I wonder how the fourth day went for Cremia and Romani though. How would she explain to her sister that she can’t drink Chateau Romani anymore despite being allowed to that single night? I guess she’ll just have to be honest with her and outright tell her that she really thought they were goners that night.

I always thought the one Cremia loved was Anju, not Kafei, since they've been friends for so long. For example, when she says that Anju's marriage is happening "too soon" it's because she hasn't had the chance to confess to Anju that she's in love with her. She even accepts to have Anju and her mother come to the ranch to avoid the apocalypse so that she can spend their last night alive together. It would also explain why she's so aggravated over Anju's mother questioning whether Kafei is at the ranch. If Anju's mom would just look beyond her nose, she would see that Cremia isn't interested in Kafei and that she is in love with Anju. I also took it as Cremia seeing that Kafei is attracted to her, just like Anju's mom does, and hasn't had the time to show Anju Kafei's unfaithfulness.
This is so sad...
I did not know she was in love with Kafei.. but then again, I forget if I ever finished Kafei's quest...

@@cheatsdash3484 I'm pretty sure I didn't; I remember getting to the part where you get to play as Kafei, messed up the puzzle, realized I would have to reset the entire cycle to try again, and then just gave up on mask completion
Unless I completed it later on in life, just following a guide while skipping through the text, but I wouldn't remember

I finished Ocarina of Time recently (my first Zelda game btw), so I'll play Majora's Mask. I'm very interested in the ranch's sidestory...
It has a dark lore at the end cremia gives romani the chatue romani wich is not alcohol but it makes the drinker sleepy etc kinda like alcohol so cremia gives to romani and gives romani the last hours or minutes before they die

I love Anjus and Kafeis side mission so much but now knowing that Cremia is in love with Kafei..it makes me sad but it's like damn that sucks. I would hang out with Cremia now because of this :( she really needs a hug

I know it's a bit of a fan ficy idea but I like to think as a happy ending Anju & Kafie would some how help Cremia out after they get married. I mean think about it, Anju is her best friend & Kafie was someone special to her & even Cremia was still selfless to allow Anju & her family to stay with her when the moon drops despite this awkward moment. I would hope they would recognize that & think the very least they could do is help her out in return.

I always laugh a bit at the getting Romani drunk thing, though. Not because it's directly comedic, but because I'm thinking about how awkward it's going to be on A New Day once Link saves the world.
Is it possible Anju is the one Cremia loves instead? Every time Cremia's crush is brought up, for some reason no one ever refers to that person as "he" or "him", just "that person". She talks more fondly of Anju, and the only time she refers to Kafei directly she seems irritated, like she doesn't like him or something.

I like to imagine the one whom Cremia had feelings for was _Anju,_ not Kafei, since their gender is never specified, people just misinterpret it for Kafei, and in the medieval setting that the Zelda games are meant to evoke, I don't think a marriage between two women would really be socially accepted. Besides, yuri is pure win, lol. Lesbians FTW!
