Gordy Howe? That's a classic Canadian gaffe! There have been many deaths in the music scene but as a Canadian this one hurts the most personally. He was our poet, intellectual, Humanitarian, and Rockstar all rolled into one! Miss you Gord! Rest Peaceful! You earned it!
Lmao@Gordie Howe nice one Tash!
Gordie Howe was Canadian too but he was hockey player. Canadians worship hockey and The Hip. ❤
The final show of thier final concert was watched by over 17 million Canadians. I watched it from Vancouver at a local concert hall one of many that broadcast it for the public... Pretty emotional. This was the final song.
We watched it from home 💕🙏🏻🤗 so emotional
@@tamibenz6626 yeah it was a thing... Some of my friends didn't get it as to why but really it was a country unifying moment that I'm proud to say I was part of. Sad but still ...
I was watching it from a bar in Thunder Bay. It really was an amazing show.
Down The Hip rabbit hole. Gord, gone way too soon. He was an amazing individual. Thanks Tash. ❤❤ from Canada.
Ditto from Peterborough!
Halifax Mooseheads sweater ! I live an hour outside hfx was at a Mooseheads game two weeks ago 😊
Tash, this song was used in the opening credits for the Anne of Green Gables reboot "Anne With An E". It was brilliant. Incredibly, the opening credits were painstakingly painted entirely by hand. Every. single. frame: ua-cam.com/video/_ZK1UC6PACk/v-deo.html
Lead singer's name is Gord Downie. (Gordie Howe is a legendary NHL hockey player, so you may have heard his name in relation to some hockey videos or recommendations.) 😊
Sorry i messed that up
@@AussieTashEnt No worries! I just thought you'd want to know. 🙂
I made a mistake once, too; I said, "I do." BIG mistake! 😉🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@carolmurphy7572 Good one😂
@@wombatwilly1002 Thanks.😃 Gotta be able to laugh at yourself, mate! Cheers!
@@carolmurphy7572I made that EXACT same mistake!!! 😂😂😂
Lol Gordy Howe, that is the cutest thing ever ❤. Here’s a hint, Gordy Howe played hockey and is Canada’s 2nd greatest Gordy 🇨🇦
You got the wrong Gordie, but RIP to both. Gordon Downie is Tragically Hip and Gordie Howe was Mr. Hockey (who plated his last season in the NHL at age 50, he got to play a couple of seasons with 2 of his sons, Mark and Marty)
Sorry about that
@@AussieTashEnt no problem, just another suggestion to look into for one of your channels.
@@AussieTashEnt mixing up Gord Downie for Gordie Howe is just about the most Canadian thing possible
You found one my absolute favourite songs. I have many. So it's tough to rank them. However, it really is up there. Hope everyone is taking care. Rip Gord Downey.
Edit: get ready to cry for the final concert. Unfortunately since it was a few thousand kilometers away i couldn't be there in person. However it was live streamed on basically every canadian news networks, and like many other Canadians, of course i watched it. Made me sort of emotional.
New Orleans is sinking is a banger
My husband and I had our first dance to 'Bobcaygeon' - Tragically Hip
I watched the livestream of their final concert in Australia, and got the kids to watch it with me so if they ever go to study or live in Canada they can say they saw it. Luckily it wound up being early on a weekend local time. Gord, of course, was unable to perform his best, but he definitely put everything he had into it, and everyone in the audience was there to support him, share a final moment and say thanks.
I cannot thank you enough . The Tragically Hip meant so much to so many people. I really do look forward to your reaction as to how all the events unfolded. Thank you
Like a caterpillar morphing into a butterfly, the Hip morphed every few years into something even more beautiful than it was before. The Hip formed a charity in 2004 to support charities. This was far before it became trendy to do so for other performers. Why, well it was because they are Canadians and that is what we do. Mr. Downie was also very passionate for Indigenous peoples and an avid advocate. His final performance drew an attendance of 17 million Canadian citizens .
I’m just glad another person gets to enjoy Gordie Howes voice 😂
This band was the one we kept just for us and not share with the world. They sang about us The Hip is summer at the cottage at night after a day of playing out on the water or fishing then sitting around the camp fire with the Hip playing as we drink some wobbly pops and shoot the shit great times.
There's a unique feeling the line "And disappointing you is getting me down". It's so perfectly bittersweet. The Hips last performance of this song is absolutely beautiful and I'm pretty sure you could hear that line echoing across the entire nation.
Love The Tragically Hip... . Gord Downie used to have fights on stage with his mic stand . Truly original rants on stage. Love your reactions... looking forward to more. I've said it before I'll say it one more time... Rush! Not to mention April Wine Blue Rodeo Kim Mitchell etcetera etcetera etcetera as I've said before, your song list is going to grow. Cheers from Canada.🍻🇨🇦
Hi, hope you're doing well.
Lol... I am a stagehand in Calgary and have set up ran Spotlight for over a dozen of their shows.
I know exactly what you're talkin about When you mention the mic stand.
He absolutely would argue with a mic stand. A lot of people say they actually did see them in concert but I really don't think they did and they're just saying that to be cool. Many times people did not know what he was talking about and look at each other go what is he talking about. The one that really stands out to me is his monitors , they were three and shaped and a half moon in front of him. Within about 6 or 7 ft radius he would do laps as if he's driving in the Indy 500. I got dizzy even watching him.
Thank you so very much
c. 02:10, Lol you're cute. Gordie Howe is a Canadian hockey icon, so I'm not going to fault you for getting the name wrong. ;) Just happened to be the wrong Canadian Icon Gord.
It was difficult for a Canadian Band to become successful in the US. But they tried ... Oh did they try. This band chose a different path by producing contemporary Canadian Rock that fit the day. They morphed from day to day form year to year. The song that ausieTash is about to play always brisngs me th tears.
Enjoying your exploration of Canadian icons! You should add Tom Cochrane to your journey - since you enjoyed this one check out "Sinking Like A Sunset" and maybe "Washed Away" among others! Also check some Sam Roberts Band (Hard Road) and Mattew Good too (Strange Days & Rico)! Anyway, thanks for another fun reaction!
Hi, hope you're doing well.
I am in Calgary and I am lucky enough to be a stagehand as well as working on film. My very first music video I ever did was Life is a Highway. !. There is a film set and every time I go to it I pass the rickety old shack where the twins are in the video.
It's almost stampede and I heard today that Tom Cochrane will be in town for a show. Not sure if I'll be on the crew because of there's so much work offer to me. I just want to say thank you very much for recommending Tom Cochrane
Tash. The singers name is Gord Downie. Gordie Howe was a hockey player.😂
Sorry i messed that up
i was working at a restaurant when the last concert happened, we told the wait staff not to sit anyone so we could all listen to a few songs all huddled around the crappy radio in the kitchen.
Lol I watched on TV at a restaurant I worked at.... he doesn't even like music much but was intrigued by the last performance.
Rip Gord, we all miss you. Canadian Royalty, literally.
You should put "38 years old" on your to do list, and "Wheat Kings"
Just thought of 2: Grace, too and Long Time Running. Fabulous.
Going to suggest a few more to you. Thanks for doing this one.
I guess I haven't been paying close enough attention Tash because I wasn't aware you had this other (entertainment) channel. As soon as I saw you reacted to Lightfoot's "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" I knew I had to subscribe. Cheers from southern Ontario!
Southern Ontario, you say? In Windsor here. Have you considered joining the Discord channel?
Haunting is the perfect word to describe Gord Downie's voice in this song. I'm not particularly a fan of the Tragically Hop, but this is one of their songs I always have liked. So, that's saying something. RIP Gord, you were definitely one of a kind.
I had to laugh. Gordie Howe! You’re close! He’s another Canadian hero. Not a bad thing to be in that kinda company.
The Hip. Greatest band ever.
Hi Tash Great band, love this song.🙏 Like that you appreciate the music also 🤘
Love your Halifax Mooseheads T-shirt. Go Moose. The Hip were a great band, wrote for Canada. Funny I've been watching some Australian bands.
Nice to see you can do Music and they don't get blocked, or atleast not this time
It’s A Good Life if You Don’t Weaken is a amazing song by The Hip
Wheat King's is my favourite Hip song!
The Northern Pikes "She ain't Pretty" Prism "Armagedon" Trooper "Were Here For a Good Time" Kim Mitchell "May as well go for a soda"
Crash Test Dummies "Superman Song" Five Man Electrical Band "Signs"
I would target deep tracks, and it don't come more Canadiana and deep than these. Please Please pick one.
You should listen to Bachman Turner Overdrive, Guess Who, April Wine, The Stampeders, Chilliwack, Neil Young, Hank Snow, Anne Murray just to name a few Canadian music acts.👍🦫🦬🇨🇦
This was the last song they played together.
The Hip's music is so diverse. I could play ten songs for you and you'd never guess it was the same band.
I'd recommend you stick to the studio versions or old live footage for the best experience. The final tour was truly an epic farewell for the fans but not Gord (Downie)'s best moments.
Gordie's "live rants" are the best. Look up "killer whale tank" or Highway Girl "Double suicide"
New Orleans (Westwind) is my favourite medley:

The last song he performed
Oh my did she just say Gordie Howe's name instead of Gord Downie's name. I have been paying attention to all of your video's and I can't recall any of vintaqe hockey players. It is one spooky freudian slip. Gordie Howe (Mister hockey) is a Canadian legend, he played in the NHL from the forties to the eighties. Amassing more points as well as penalty minutes then is humanly possible. Both Gordies are Canadian legends. How that slip could of happened blows my mind. It's like if I said the most famous Austrailian family members Gary Albett ,sr.&jr. . Instead of Malcolm & Angus Young. And not knowinq a thing about the AFL.
Sorry mate
@@AussieTashEnt no worries. I am more worried about what is happenig to the Geelong Cats this year.
No need to react to it, but I thought I'd bring it your attention to watch on your own. On one of your Canadian comedy videos, I mentioned Rick Mercer. A week after Gord Downie died, Rick Mercer recorded a eulogy for his show, the Mercer Report, telling a story about phone call Gord made to Rick's dad. It's on UA-cam, called "Remembering Gord Downie". It's a touching story about just how authentic Gord Downie was.
Rest in peace Gordy baby!
Greatest Hits Double Album "Yer Favourites"
Gordie Howe was a hockey player
I cant wait to see the Gordie Howe documentary
One of the greatest Canadian hockey players in history!
(Not sure how good he could sing)
maybe check out canadian country superstar Paul Brandt song Alberta Bound or a complitation of him and other canadian country singers in the song Convoy based on the 1970s song and movie of the same name , originally done by american singer/actor kris krisstofferson who was the lead in the movie
I would love to be called Gordie Howe by mistake , man was among the best players ever and Gord D among the best vocalists.
Check out "Up to Here" my favorite album of theirs. Muscular rock and roll. Every song is great.

Please do more on The Tragically Hip.
I forgot to say thank you very much
At the hundred meridian yaaaaàaaaw
My favourite Hip song.
Sorry i got his name wrong
Wonderful video Tash! I've read through a lot of the comments because I hate repeating what has already been said. Almost everyone has mentioned the final concert, which was a truly emotional show for all the Canadians watching. You've already reacted to the song but I wanted to give you the link for your own enjoyment and so that you can see for yourself what we were all talking about. ua-cam.com/video/ghLk-BhT-P8/v-deo.html
Thanks again! Keep them coming!
This song. It is about a gay boy. Protected by his mom. Against his uncles who are hunting him down.
This breaks my heart.
Have you heard of Brian Adams or Corey Hart? I admire Corey Hart!! Brian Adams older stuff is way better!! (Cuts like a knife) Corey’s I wear my Sunglasses at night!! & Never surrender!! Boy in a Box!! So underrated!! Please my friend 🙏🏻💕💐🥰
I hope you're fine. If you look well in the video, once they are older & married, in the kitchen you can see the woman is pregnant & that is why she is "ahead by a century" :)
My voice is no where near that good.
Spirit of the west...home for a rest
Another sad tale is the story of Shannon Hoon, magnificent singer from Blind Melon but I think you'll dig this...

Gordy Howe? I think you're thinking of somebody else entirely. Famous for other things.
