Subbed in memory of Joe Camel. Tough at the end for him but back in the day, he was a smooth dude.

I just watched an aquaponics video where the solids filter was filled with shade cloth. Thanks. I'm definitely going to try this one.

Great tips. I'm going to have to alter mine for a larger scale.

Btw- Loved the video! Now I want to get busy and build another pond! You’re an inspiration, and I liked seeing the repurposed items and Dollar store items! Thanks for the great ideas!

Great design bro. Perfect timing as well, getting ready to replace my mini pond filter and like this better than my last one I built. Just subbed, Awesome you're helping people still 2 years after you dropped this!!!

Its a very good idea to use these easily available cheap materials as the filter media & also acts as a Bio filter. I will build one to see the result.

I just build a filter based on your design with slight variations and installed it on a 14’x36” pool. That my son has a couple large bass and a large sunfish in. We use the original pool filter /pump without the cartridge filter as the pump. Within 2 or 3 days the murky water was crystal clear leaving only some sediment on the pool floor. Works great! Thanks for the info.

The swirling motion aided by the 45 degree elbows at the bottom helps prevent channeling in a major way! I’ve never seen that done before. Genius!!😀

Very good video! This is pretty much a small skippy filter but with a clean out added. Skippy says never clean them ever ever...but I can't wrap my head around that. I had one for about 15 years. I grew plants in it and the root system basically took over until it was impossible to clean. At that point I just let it do its thing. Never had a problem.

Im going to build a duck pond filter tonight using this basic concept. On the bottom will be the same until the green sponges. I am going to replace those and use the large blue sheet of macropore furnace filter found at hardware stores for under$6. 3 -4 layers of that then lava rock. I am using a large bruit trash can. Cost will be around $100 for one much larger. Thank you for this great video and making my mind up of what system I am going to use.

Been considering trying to pick up a hot tub free off craigslist or something as a pond. Nice to see other people are doing that too.

I built one using this method and it has lasted for years. Its in a large rectabgle bin so not as strong as a bucket and it has finally sprung a leak. I'll be building a pond soon in the back yard and moving my turtles out there from the garage setup. I plan on using a 7gal bucket. Great video. 👍
