Wow , thank you for this video, I am looking for a video on how to make a DIY pond filter, and I find this very interesting, professionally made, and it looks very decent.
Thank you for this video. It is super informative and well done in making it clear and easy to understand. However, might be even better video if you tone down on the sound effect.
After watching your video , I have got three questions I would like to ask you . 1) What is UV light for ? 2)What is the size of pipes do use for inlet and out let ? 3) where did you get those Stone ? 4) and how much power of pump do you use ?
UV Lights kill algae that float in the water and prevent your water from turning green. Lava rocks can easily be found at a home improvement store like Lowe’s or Home Depot or in the garden section of a supermarket
It's not necessary to add UV and aeration inside the drum filter. But the presence of these add an incremental advantage into how efficient your filter set-up will be. Any little advantage really matters for some. But if you can't set these two at the moment it is perfectly fine. You can set them up later when you're ready.
Thanks for the job, may i ask this filtrations size is compatible with what size of water in CubicMeter and what is your stocking density in the CubicMeter?
Thanks you so much...🙂 One question though, could I keep the 2nd drum lid open if I manage to get a larger drum so that I can do aquaponics on lava rocks and pumice which will make the filter further efficient?
Thanks Anna, in this video I was using the Aquaspeed A4000. I'd recommend the Rio 12HF though it's a better submersible. More expensive but performance is really better.
What a great video my guy!! I've been looking for a decent way to diy one for myself for a while now amd this by far looks the best I've seen. Thank you for very much for sharing. Could i maybe please suggest that you could take the air lines and have them direct feed to the bottom of the bucket with silicone instead of having them through the overflow pipe, I'm thinking some restrictions in flow the way it is. Also having the air lines in there like that you could theoretically run, say those small media balls and pretty much have it constantly "fluidised" just my two cents haha. Thanks again for posting.

Hello Otto, it's still tentative but I am collecting data now on my pond construction. It's not a lot yet but when I get enough I'll do a short video about it.
Hello, so far the pump has been easy to to maintain. A basic disassemble then cleaning of the impeller then reassemble. Works just as usual. Were you experiencing some pump problem? Can you share it to me?
The same design will work my friend however the size of these drums is small. If you can find larger drums and them make a set of at least 3 drums then I believe its suffcient. Assuming of course you are diligent in cleaning the mechanical filters as often as possible.
So a 3 drum design, meaning 2 drums for mechanical filtration and 1 for biological ? Also when you say cleaning, do you mean, using the drain valve to flush out the water or actually taking out the filter media and washing it individually? Any advice would be really helpful, thank you a lot for your help.
@@shujaatali4728 2 is to 1 drum is correct. And cleaning is just pulling out the nets from the mechanical filter and cleaning it thoroughly. The drum of the mechanical filter must be cleaned as well. Then not touching the 2 biological filters.
Thank you for your reply, so 1 mechanical filter and 2 biological filter? And one more question, how often does the filter needs to be cleaned? Really appreciate you taking the time to reply.
@@shujaatali4728 Try cleaning it once a week first. Then if you think it gets too dirty if left that long then try adjusting it to cleaning it every 4 days.
This is very interesting. Thank you for sharing your ideas. I will be doing the same soon. Just want to know what submersible pump did u use? I am planning to build a 6X4X4 pond, what pump should I buy?
Heya Crom, you're welcome. The water volume for the 6x4x4 is around 2,718 liters. I'd recommend you try either the Periha PB-5000 or the Rio 12HF. Those are top of the line choices for you.
