Thank you so much for advertising this because this is very helpful
I’m kind of happy kia has moved to the smartstream NA engine because I think it’s going to be more reliable over the long term
What was wrong with the 1.6T?
@@bt5252 Well one major positive is the "Smartstream" 2.5l N/A is actually direct injected _AND_ port injected. The 1.6T is only direct injected. So this new N/A engine won't have carbon-buildup issues. (And as someone who's had several VW & Audi DI 2.0T vehicles over the years, I love the idea of *not* having to pay for another "walnut-blast intake valve cleaning" ever again.)
@@coejbeeIt's a much better engine with the port and direct injection and it will stay cleaner versus the direct injection which is known to carb up..
@@charlesjackson1700That would be on the EX model or the GT Line?
@@bt5252 yes it’s good that in that engine you get a decent amount of torque at a low rpm, a faster acceleration and better fuel economy but plenty of people who I know buy a midsize sedan that is a non turbocharged and non hybrid so their for good longevity and not want necessarily go for the Japanese competitors
Best looking in the segment imo
Prefer the Sonata here
@@kennethawesomeFeels cramped inside tho
No doubt about that!
Currently waiting to see what they'll be doing with the hatchback/wagon-ish version of the K4 when it comes out later. Might go for one in 2025/26 if it reviews well, but I can't deny the K5 is quite nice looking in my opinion!
Yeah, I'm curious about the K4 too
That new CCnC infotainment looks and feels so much better than the pre-refresh one. This is seriously my favorite car that Kia sells. Fun to drive too!
Night and day difference!
So the Korean twins went from being one of the loudest in terms of cabin noise in the past…to THE quietest, bmw level. These facts and figures show they are improving. Don’t know what’s wrong with the Toyota fanboys.
Yup, KIA and Hyundai are the quietest and offer the best ride quality.
They can't deal with The Truth . Toyota & Honda have quality problems. Other car companies Kia Hyundai & Mazda & Subaru are getting better
If you have to mention Toyota then you still competing for 1st place 🥇 good luck 🍀
It says it is quieter than a Rolls Royce Ghost. It is slightly louder than the TX500h+
Underrated car. This and the sonata need the hybrid powertrain from the Tuscon/Sorento/Santa Fe/Sportage. That hybrid power-train with the quiet cabin here will make it a winner. The GT is massively neutered for its purpose since it lacks a limited slip diff.
The Sonata DOES have a hybrid powertain. Sonata and K5 are hybrids in other markets. Just not in North America.
I think their only sedan that uses the 1.6t hybrid is the current gen Cadenza/K8, which isn't being sold here anymore. I haven't seen any details about how it drives though. It really sucks that kia didn't bring the K5 hybrid over here. I ended up getting the '24 Sonata hybrid though, and honestly the performance has been fine for day to day driving.
Sonata does have a hybrid. The6 use 2.5L GDI 4 cylinder 16 valve engine
I hope you guys Get the GT Trim so you can review it for us ❤. I’ve been waiting for weeks for some channel to get that trim
No turbos and a regular 8 speed is a huge plus for me! Though dont love gdi
I love the look of this car so much and I love how it drives. I hate that the EX trim only comes with black interior (yawn city). I’m also apprehensive just because it’s a Kia - and I don’t know if I’m being silly about that or not. It’d be more tempting if it were a hybrid. Perhaps in a few years?
Hi Guys - I like the refresh, I'm excited for your review on the GT - do you think KIA will make upgrades to the GT suspension & handling? I like the look, the red seats, the tech - plus I'm glad they're sticking to an AT instead of going CVT. overall I feel like KIA is doing very well. maybe one day when fuel is 35 dollars a gallon car makers will put out more sedans, lol. great job. tony
Thanks! I don't think they are planning many updates to the GT beyond all the enhancements it already has for performance
Had my Yacht Blue FWD GT-Line for a couple weeks now, it replaced my '21Wolf Gray, love the car but TBH it feels sleepy on the highway, I think it misses the turbo.
I had much rather have the naturally aspirated engine than the turbo engine.. It will be much more reliable long-term and I could care less about getting two or three miles to the gallon over the previous engine.. I think it was a very good move on their part👍
That's a nice K5! I still think that I'll take the Camry. I also think that a comparison between this and the Camry would be cool
I had a K5 GT-Line 2021 lease. Just recently turned in for a 2024 Hyundai Sonata SEL. These are stellar automobiles. This is my third Sonata (2009, 2016, 2024).
no hybrid option is strange given the Accord and Camry offerings
Korea has the hybrid k5 model. Us doesn't get them.
In my opinion, I think the reason why Kia k5 ain’t got hybrid is because it could hurt sales of sonata and Elantra hybrid. So Hyundai was like “Yeah don’t worry about hybrid for Kia. I gotcha bruh” and called it a day.
@blackgold754 If a K5 hybrid was available in the North American market, it would absolutely murder the Sonata Hybrid lol
@@greg.anywhere I think it would lol just because it has better interior designs. I do dislike the front end though. It looks somebody cut their face cheeks just to give a big bloody smile know what I mean? Like mouth of venom. I would say sonata hybrid is more of elegant version of that despite looking sport as Audi.
really like this model, just a tad too long for my garage. Mid-size continues to get bigger and bigger. My 2011 Sonata is less than 190" and the new models are about 4" longer. So I'm looking forward to the K4, just wish it had the AWD option like the K5
many ppl been complain they wan the digital display....so what i heard was many ppl want the car to be priced higher so they can then complain it costs too much
I don't like the dual screen set up there 😂
Oh, just shut up! No one wants outdated technology in their vehicles anymore. It's not 1994 or 2004.. It's 2024!
Yes of course guys & I'm ready to buy this car.
Excellent video guys.
I have 2020 S model, with the same 2.5-for 2021 went to 1.6 but had many issues
How come you can't get AWD for the 290hp version?
I feel like they're trying too hard to make changes with this car. The day time running lights are just too much, and the rear looks more boxy and less sporty...
Wish it had a hybrid. This would been my next car.
When Kia/Hyundai brought former designers from Audi & BMW I knew they’d progressively improve their line up. Many of the designs mimic 🇩🇪 🚗 elements.
these KN cars are getting pretty nice...
Just traded in my 2016 Mazda 6 for this car and yeah the tech jump is insane. I never thought I'd ever get a Kia but this car looks great and the interior is nice as well. I just wish it had slightly more power as it does feel slow on the highway and the cluster could be a bit nicer but either way it was a huge upgrade for me. I was so close to choosing the Sonata but the premium package with Bose sold me. The sonatas premium package doesn't even give leather seats.
Love your car video
Please compare the kia k5 gt to the hyundai elantra n
Really nice. Tempted to buy this version with black and grey seats
Those are exclusive to the GT-Line, even the EX has just black with no trim.
@@nyifnbr18I think they look the best
Excellent review of an excellent vehicle!😸
Does this one have ambient lighting?
Glossy black on all the touch points.
I'm really not a fan of these giant screens in place of analog instrumentation. People are going the junk cars out of warranty when they realize it's going to cost $5,000 to replace their dead digital gauge cluster.
You have a point, but also people don't replace the part they replace the whole car
Analog is old and outdated. Just like with cassette tapes and CD players. I think you're overreacting with the cost of replacing a digital gauge cluster. Not to mention, Hyundai/Kia has the longest warranty in the business. Analog gauges are now equivalent to a cell phone with buttons. Not a lot of people use them or care anymore. When was the last time you heard anyone complaining about having a big screen on their phones? Let's not be barbaric with your thinking here. And for the record, this is what the majority of consumers want, which they complain about not having a full digital screen, like in the Korean market.
@@jraheemjefcoat429disagree analogue gauges look better . Digital hurts ur eyes too for long term use. U never had a digital gauge car so I can tell
@Mojomaniac1 Must be your poor eyesight. And you don't know me to make an assumption that my vehicle doesn't have digital gauges. So stop deflecting your OWN personal experience with digital gauges, old timer. 👴
@@jraheemjefcoat429 I agree, analogue is so ghetto these days.
Two handsome lads with a lot of charisma
Can y'all do a Hyundai sonata limited? I want to see what's on that
Coming soon!
@CarConfections yay can't wait 😅
I am waiting for 2025 Vw Jetta GLI
Those look like KIA was not listening. The had an opportunely to get rid of those fake exhaust tips with this recent refresh.
I thought Kia said that, they were going to discontinue the K5?!
This and the new Camry are the best midsize sedans. I would definitely give the edge to KIA though because it’s hard to trust a company that would falsify safety data. That’s downright shady and sleazy.
Where did you get your reliability data exactly? Above average? Will probably start having mechanical problems soon? Looks nice though
www.carconfections.com/reliability
JD Power gives the 2024 a "Great" predicted reliability rating. That was with the turbo. The 2025 NA should be even better. Plus, there's the 10-year powertrain warranty, and 5-year bumper to bumper.
So, where exactly did you get YOUR data?
@@prescottlange is JD Power legit? Don't car manufacturers pay them?
@@donrobbins4861 Yeah, no one's more legit than you, some anonymous, conspiratorial internet rando, right? Lol.
Again, 10-year powertrain warranty. So, even if one is experiencing the frustrations of "mechanical problems soon", they're still covered. Heck, they're still covered if its mechanical problems later. MUCH later.
@@prescottlange Consumer Reports reviews are legit
Sweet ZX3 at 4:47.
I have wonder about longevity
What it costs?
It looks alright, I like the new technology and red interior!
I like it but is gonna be difficult not getting a 2025 Camry.
You'll probably get this at MSRP while Toyota is gonna add a $10k markup 🥲
@@Carfan678 that’s correct.
مقاطعكم وشرحكم جميل جدا لكن اين الترجمه لماذا لا توجد ترجمه؟ 🇮🇶❤️😊
the K5 was discontinued in Canada and there's a good chance it'll be discontinued in the US next year
Do you guys still have the sonata?
Doesn't make sense to spend $ to do a refresh then kick the model to the curb.
@@nyifnbr18 Genesis just refreshed the G70 last year, and then announced its getting discontinued
@@TheBreakfastLover Interesting.
Of course, do very little to make it competitive then axe it.
I I’ve got a very interesting question to make to all of you, my dear Americans How on earth you are still keeping this horrible “tradition” of keeping all rear lights only in Red, excluding the orange for the turn signals?! HELP THIS SPANISH GUY TO UNDERSTAND?!
bro kia is also killing in india cuz of looks 🥵🥵🥵
Is Kia now considered a near premium(luxury) brand in the US? Just curious 🤨
no but they still are nice cars
lol heck no
What? halogen reverse lights???
Calm down. It's a mainstream car. It's not a luxury one.
@@jraheemjefcoat429 my Accord 2024 has LED ones. Camry has the same in highest trims
@KonstantinKulikov100 Accord STILL doesn't have a panoramic sunroof. Now that's the biggest oversight. Besides, lights are cosmetics. Easily can be changed. Unless you didn't know that.
@@jraheemjefcoat429 how do you think what is cheaper for manufacturers: to build in LED reverse lights either to install a panoramic sunroof? That's why the decision to use halogen lights is strange at least. They cost almost nothing for manufacturers
@@KonstantinKulikov100 Id trade led reverse lights for a panoramic sunroof, Im never looking at the reverse lights as their only on when backing up which means im in the car not looking at it
The dash on this car could have been done so much better without cowtowing to the 25-35 year old crowd by putting in the long screens. Not necessary, never were.
I am surprised with the sound level reading on these newer Korean cars.
Steretpyes are the biggest enemy for Kia
The Kia boys are gonna like these
The cars have immobilizers now 😂
lamest comments lmao
Needs a hatchback!
🔥🔥🔥
"this LOW 30 thousand dollar price point." HAHAHAHA WHAT!!!! I literally paid 34k for my challenger scat pack 5 years ago!!!! 30k for this is a RIP OFF
Keyword: 5 years ago! Your scat pack would be $40k plus in these INFLATION times.
Yeah but that starts at $50k now
buddy this aint trump economy anymore
I’ll Still Stay w a Accord 🔥
So many automakers are so lazy to not even integrate the gauge cluster into the dashboard. Looks incredibly cheap and just but ugly. Too bad, since the rest of the car is a winner.
you wont catch me in a kia or hyundai....not untill they can make a engine that dosnt blow up in 20,000kms
Then you just get a new engine. 10-year powertrain warranty. So what's the problem?
That means you never own one .
That engine sounds loud on 3 mins 56 seconds into the video. I lost confidence with kia. Resale value tanks, constant recalls. Thefts.
Hyundai sonata😂
❣👍❣👍 nice
The Korean version is nicer looking.
Looks like a crushed BMW.
😢😢😢😢
Krap
dude, is just a kia, is going to brake sooner than later. All that gimmicky is not going to change anything.
Break*
Dude, learn how to spell before you try to bash a car brand, simp.
Learn how to spell before you try to throw insults at Kia with that 1994 mindset of yours!
Of course it's going to brake sooner than later. What with stop signs, red lights, traffic, etc., the braking never ends!
dudes, sorry the typo, very funny, but you still know is just a kia, friendly remainder. bye bye
In my opinion, if you can afford it, get a Hyundai sonata instead
Why? They are both pretty much the same car. It's like telling me, don't get the Mercury Sable, get the Ford Taurus instead. Same chassis, bruh!
@@jraheemjefcoat429exactly. There's no major difference, you simply decide which design you like more.
Well actually what made me go for the Kia was the simple fact that the premium package in the K5 offered a Bose sound system while the premium package in the Sonata didn't even offer leather seats OR Bose. Hyundai does have a slightly better cluster and paddle shifters but that's about it. Sucks that they each have trade offs.
@hen913 That's America, for you! Cut costs for feature content. It's not like this is Korea. Their vehicles are fully spec out. Some features we don't get, like fingerprint reader to biometric start the car or to set your personal settings.
@@jraheemjefcoat429 Yea i understand the missing features. But I'm sure its a brand thing since they're sister companies. Where one car has something the other doesn't have. It's pretty annoying!! ONE thing I'm jealous of KR is that we have yellow DRLs instead of white
I own more than a year. Worst car in my opinion. First month battery dead it was defective. After 8000 miles steering wheel start shaking. When you pass from bump, everywhere inside of car making noise. Specially sunroof area and hand holder. From outside 10/10 car but inside 1/10.
You had a shitty ass lemon bud. Lemons don't represent the car as a whole.
You're such a liar!
Sadly I feel the k5 design is outdated and aged poorly
You must be talking about yourself.
Are you sure you not taking about Toyota? Cuz they are the notorious for that
@@kromahj this design just faded on me
@@kromahj He's delusional who lacks taste. Probably thinks the new Accord aka "Honda Taurus " is better.
Most stolen cars on the market come get em KIA BOYZ
you not going to compare it to the mazda 3 awd turbo sedan?! 🤣 take this chinese junk outta here
Cheap materials and unreliable.
