  • In this video, Chase discusses the Star Tutors unique 3-pass method that can effectively be used on the science and math sections of the ACT exam. The method is designed to ensure that students only see the easiest questions that they 100% know how to answer. The best part about the strategy is that it works for every level of test taker. In this strategy video, Chase discusses the technique for helping students improve from a 23 to a 28 on the science test.
    To watch the 3-pass method in action (and used to get a perfect 36 score on the test), please watch • Video and subscribe to our channel to see more relevant ACT and SAT content!

      Yep, we just uploaded a new math video detailing the 3-Pass method for the math and science sections! It's on the channel or you can find it here: ua-cam.com/video/yCTatp1sL2I/v-deo.html.

      @@StarTutors What is your opinion on McGraw-Hill 500 must-know science questions? Is this something in line with ACT science?
      I am not able to complete these questions in the time given. Would you recommend any good online practice website for this section of the test?

    For the 3 pass method, will answering all the easy questions first on the test negatively affect me if I go back to the passage later?

    • @StarTutors
      @StarTutors  4 роки тому +4

      Nope! The idea is that there are 25-30 questions on every science section that have nothing to do with the science topic. The "According to" and "Based on" questions don't require any reading or outside knowledge. Just graphical analysis. Once you've answered 25 questions right, you'll feel great and have the confidence to go back and really work through the harder problems, basically knowing that every additional question you answer correctly is worth an additional point on the science test!

      @@StarTutors that might be an ingenious strategy! Interesting. Right now I get around 28-33 on the science section (my worst section). I will test it out!

      Thanks! It's seemed to worked well for most of our students, so let us know how it works for you! You can check out the 3-Pass Method in action by watching the following video: ua-cam.com/video/jN49aXrs0fE/v-deo.html. It's Chase taking the April 2019 B04 ACT Science section in real time.

    I know this is way late but I was wondering do you guys do this for all sections?

    • @StarTutors
      @StarTutors  4 роки тому +2

      Do you mean the skipping/3-pass idea for all sections? We tend to only use the 3-Pass for the math and science sections, but we do have a similar method for completing the reading test if you're struggling for time on that section!

      Star Tutors mainly for me the science section is my problem. I got a 34 31 and 30 on English reading and math but a 24 on the science. So I am going to try the 3 pass

      There are multiple strategies and ultimately the one that you find most effective is the one we want you to go with. The 3-Pass method was really designed to show students the importance of moving on quickly from difficult questions. As you get better at the strategy, you will think less about the structure of which exact questions to skip and will instead just skip questions that seem to be difficult after you read them!
