I've been watching Charmain @unplantparenthood and she has mentioned that all the Thai Con's she's experienced have always had some rotty roots living among really healthy roots so it sounds like that might just be them, not you?

Yeah it seems to be quite common with them 🙃

I don't think having a much bigger pot makes a difference in semi hydro, it is always damp no matter how big. Not like soil

Yep agreed, I think the biggest issue would be stability.

Hey, if you want your Thai Constellation to grow faster and bigger attach it to a pole for support. It doesn’t have to be a moss pole. Mine is growing in pon and I’ve put a young straight birch trunk (which I found in a forest) at the back of the plant and attached the Thai to it. It pushes out a new leaf about once a month, all the leaves are fully fenestrated!

I enlarge the holes in pots like those with a soldering iron. Also I do not prune roots back. Larger plants have larger root systems in my mind so if I prune back, I risk a growth plateau

I found that my Florida Green got really crazy leggy and the branches got really bent when I didn't use a moss pole. Takes up a lot of real estate. It is too late for a pole without a major chop, so I have it training up a wall.

I think root trimming on the thai is preventing it form maturing jmo

Great video, and if I’d voted I would have done the same choices as the majority. I was really pleased to see the choice of substrate your friend suggested, pon, tree fern and moss. I have seen this used for anthuriums before and it’s supposed to be a wonderful mix, but I have like you never tried it. You said it was like a soil. I have always wondered should you cut the moss and tree fern fibre in to smaller bits before using it with a pair of scissors? I guess you could also substitute the pon for perlite as well.
Please give us an update in a few weeks of how all your plants are doing in their new pots/substrates.

Isn't that to see if you have water in the reservoir?
