- This is a two-part State of Mind because it had to be. I was fascinated by both parts. The first part was all about Martha Byrne’s incredible acting life and her mother, who was right there every step of the way. She got “As The World Turns” at 15 years old and the rest is history!!!

I am beyond thrilled, Martha took the time to write to me back in the mid nineties. Every ATWT actor/actress I wrote to sent a letter and a photo. Helen Wagner even wrote a personal note to me when I sent a 50th anniversary card to celebrate the show.

Last summer and fall, I was sick with women’s issues and it made my anxiety 1000 times worse and I was very depressed. Thankfully, I found a great psychiatrist who changed my medication and that helped me so much. Feeling much better these days but currently experiencing stress due to my office closing, where I’ve worked for about 18 years and starting over in a different place. It’s always something but all we can do is try and push through it. You may not realize it, but you and your words help me too!! ❤

Loved this interview with Martha. I never watched ATWT, but I remember seeing her on GH when she played the mayor's wife. That character was another level. Great episode.
OMG, I SO DESPERATELY needed to hear what you said in the beginning! Last week, my 80-year-old father had an episode of extreme insanity (bladder infection causes this in elderly sometimes), and I spent the entire week actually VIBRATING with anxiety. I believe it was a panic attack that lasted a whole week. Anyway, I give everyone else the same pep talk that you just gave me! I did keep showing up, I answered the phone and made phone calls even though it physically hurt me to do so, did my job and I got through it. I am someone who has a hard time crying (I'm an ugly crier and my eyes will show it for days) because I blocked it for so many years, but you got a few tears of "OMG someone else GETS IT!!" from me just now! Also, I couldn't wait to tune in today because I LOVE Martha! I basically grew up with Lily and Holden! I always loved Martha's off-screen friendship with Elizabeth Hubbard too. I adored Lily and Lucinda! 💓💓💓💓💓

"No lie, I am so happy you brought her on here, Maurice. One thing I can definitely say is that out of all the shows that went off air, 'As the World Turns' should have never been one of them. A lot of times, the way Carly and Sonny are on 'General Hospital' reminds me of the dedication Lily and Holden had.

Probably triggered anxiety. I have panic attacks and anxiety and even feeling physically dizzy makes me scared and I go into anxiety. I’m trying to use a technique called somatic tracking so you get off of the high alert. It’s helpful. Also please get your vaccines - i have gotten flu shots for 35 years!! I don’t like to get sick.

I cried when Martha said her husband became a private investigator and loved it. I thought "when one door closes another one opens". That ending scares me a bit when the FBI arrested him. I pray that it all turned out okay for them.

I watched ATWT even before Martha joined the cast. I had a crush on Lucy Deakins. She was super cute. Martha took on the role and did a great job. Her & Jon Hensley were it. I am confused about her exit. I always thought it was a contract thing & Goutman fired her. Here she is saying she wanted to leave. I guess the truth is in the middle somewhere.
Thank you for the support. One of the main reasons I left and felt being home was the right choice was the circumstances surrounding my contract negotiations. I felt I couldn’t stay after what occurred. It was ugly. I don’t get into the details as it is long past but it pushed me out and being with my children was where I wanted to be. I didn’t feel after what occurred at the show I could ever stay and be at peace there ever again.
Thanks for replying & explaining the details. Also, thanks yo your husband for his service. I’m from the Philadelphia area and I know how important his job is. Keep fighting the fight. P.S.- I must confess I had a huge crush on Allison Smith. I remember when you played Carter. Yup! Allison & Ari were it for me. To be young again. LOL!!!!

I use to care what people thought, yet it didn't really bother me because, I would always (weigh) & consider the source of
what they were saying
& focus on the why
& if it was a constructive thing - ok
& yet if it was not -
I'd consider the source & move on!

I kinda understand. I have epilepsy. Im 39 but it started at 17. Came out of nowhere. Nobody knew what to do. Drugs were great. Nobody knew how to talk. Found someone to talk to. Happened to be husband. We found talking helped. Sometimes we need others to talk to but that also helps
