  • Two from a friend, and two from eBay. I got things tuned up but are these 1954 2400 series passenger cars from Lionel too heavy for most postwar locomotives? We put the 2055 Hudson on the task.

Reminds me of when I was in kid. We use to run our old Lionel trains on the kitchen table. Thanks for sharing. Real good video.

Just a quick note, The 2055 came with the square tender. There are at least three different sets of the 2400 seires cars. One set with grey roofs, one set with Red window stripes (1956 only) and later a blue striped set sometime in the 60s. You do have the Elizabeth, was usually only sold separately and harder to find.

Yes. Elizabeth is in with the ones I have. They are tough to clean!

I use the Tandem Associates tender reference web page when I am trying to match up what I may be missing (or what may be incorrectly pared with a loco that I have acquired). www.tandem-associates.com/lionel/lioneltenders.htm#PAGE1. According to their information, the #2055 did have a square 6026W tender, but it could also come with a 2046W. Information on the #2055 says that the Variation A loco could have come with either, where the Variation B loco came with the 6026W only (officially).

The 2400 series cars with the grey roofs were earlier and featured two center rail pickups per car to reduce the flickering which could be more pronounced on turnouts and uncoupler tracks.

I’ll bet the wife loves having the trains on the dining table. LOL

Actually, it's her idea to set them up there. I am wondering what she is going to put on my "honey-do" list though! 😂

I had a set with a passenger car, dome car, came observation car, pulled by a 44 ton switcher in Burlington colors. That was around 1957.
