- This project has been a long time coming.
Though long it is chalked full of virtually every single process it takes/ took to bring new life back into these once shabby looking passenger cars.
The clip gives a better description than I could ever write, so I’ll let it speak for itself.
I hope Everyone enjoys this new series, & please don’t hesitate to reach out & ask questions if needed.
From The Working Railroad of FRV… Happy Railroading to You n’ Yours!!!

Eli, can’t thank you enough for all the great videos you have done on restoring these trains.
I have been working on my own trains, learning the hard way for about 4 years now but always getting them running eventually. I can’t tell you how many great tips I have gotten from your videos, wish I had found them sooner! I would never have believed how good the minerals spirits work, even on rust (with scrubbing of course)!
Thanks for taking the time to do these videos and share with us, take care and God Bless.
Thank you for showing the Mother's Aluminum polish and how to apply it. My 2500 cars look brand new!
Awesome job !!! Thanks
Well Done !!
Absolutely amazing work!!! It also shows how well made Lionel made trains back in the postwar years. I absoluly love watching your videos as youve helped me restore some of my old trains backnto their former glory. Thanks for helping to to keep the magic alive...
You have a good channel and great content. I have been collecting and repairing pre and post war for a few years now and I wish I had had info like yours when I started. When you clean aluminum before you use the polish wipe it down with distilled white vinegar, let it sit fit a for seconds and then rinse with distilled water. The vinegar gets the deep dirt out and breaks the oxidation barrier.
Great video and channel! I found your UA-cam channel at OGR forums by accident! Glad I did, and just subscribed to your channel tonight! Thanks again for sharing your vast knowledge of Lionel Postwar!

The trick to buffing aluminum yes you can wipe it off but you need a little bit of heat you have to rub the area with a clean dry microfiber towel to create Heat and she will shine like a diamond
This is incredible work! Im literally blown away by how new they look now
Awesome work! Thanks for taking the time to do this and video it! I will definitely reference this when I begin the breakdown/cleaning of my cars!
Very impressive restoration on these cars Eli! I have 8 of these cars so I will be taking full advantage of this awesome video. Thank you for making this video my friend. 😃 Frank
Mineral spirits!
A ton of work went into that project, great job my friend!👋
Excellent video, thank you.
Great video , i will check it again soon when i have these cars in the collection !
Very cool, enjoy your in depth repair videos
Awesome video, Thanks!!! I have the same 3 in the same condition and am about to start the restoration so this video really helps me out! I noticed you had a "kink" in one of the passenger inserts. I have the same and wonder if there is a process to smooth it out after cleaning???
Great video! I just have one question, if I needed to replace the rollers assembly on my 2500s, what would be the correct part number for them?
Dear Sir, I missed what you use to remove the rust. Thank you =m=
Soak in mineral spirits then scrub w/ a stainless steel brush.
What product do you use, to soak the parts?
