Super late comment, but the fight in the model village is pay off to a comment that one of the Andys made earlier in the film. "if you want to be a big cop in a small town, fuck off up the model village"
This, was filmed in Wells near where I grew up. People do all sell apples round there, it’s true. 32:50 they had to digitally remove the Cathedral, as a Cathedral makes a settlement a City not a town or village.
I remember going there for a wedding and I was walking around and thought it looked familiar, I saw the main high street and was like of course, it's hot fuzz
Just for you Nick, Dr Hatcher was Jack Travis the baddie in Lethal Weapon 3 and Tom Weaver the cctv guy was the Equalizer from the tv show. And the Rev. Was the baddie in Raiders of the lost ark
I lived around the corner from where this film was made and it was always very close to home! Especially as a family friend was in the film! Humour and writing is top class
Hot Fuzz is deffo my favourite, but I grew up with villages like this, and people like this. (In fact this was filmed a couple miles up the road from me) as did Edgar and Simon, so I feel like I can relate a lot more to the characters, situations and throw-away jokes in this compared to their other films. So I'm never surprised that this isn't many others favourite, but it does make me sad :)
Bill Bailey plays two different characters in the film. One of the characters reads "Complicity" by Iain Banks, while the other reads two novels by Iain M. Banks. They are in fact all written by the same author; Banks uses the "M" for his science fiction books. (One of the Iain M. Banks books is "The State Of The Art"). This split is clearly supposed to symbolize differences in the two characters' personalities.
The thing with the church is actual a bit different to how Tim explained. The place it was filmed (Wells) is actually a city and what makes something a city is having a cathedral so that's what they would've had to edit it out.
I know they are unlikely to do Ant-man because they've already done it in the MCU in Review but I wonder if they'll count The Adventures of Tintin as an Edgar Wright film or if it will only be Edgar Wright's directed works.
I never saw this movie growing up but I'm so glad I did after rewatching shaun of the dead last week. I love watching these movies alongside the KF crew. Thank you guys for the awesome content EVERYDAY 🙏
A lot of the older villagers are very well-respected British actors not really known for doing this genre, making it even more funny when they go nuts/get murdered. So I think if you’re not a (older) Brit or very familiar with British culture, you might miss a lot of the subtleties.
HAHAHAHA! When Greg mentioned the stories about his three tickets, I had to LOL at his story about using a speeding ticket for an ID. I might have done a similar thing to get into a NYE party. MIZ...FkU
The whole Fistful of Fingers film is on UA-cam. Watched it recently again, and even though it is his 'worst' film due to it being his first, there are still moments where you have to give it credit. This isn't like Nolan's first film, this had like no budget at all.
I'd love to see your take on 'In Bruges,' written and directed by Martin McDonagh - the absolute genius. The film has a darker tone than HF but I'd say it's written just as good, if not better, and Farrell, Fiennes and Gleeson put in ridiculously good performances. I reckon the guy in the bottom right might like it but the rest of you probably won't. But then again I would've said that you'd all dislike HF, so what do I know?!?!
Hot Fuzz is light years beyond Shaun because it has so much detail, and "inside" jokes sprinkled throughout every single scene that you laugh harder on the 4th/5th watch through than you do the 1st because it keeps on giving. Shaun for the most part blows it's load on the 1st watch.
I know you're not supposed to feel bad for him, but I felt bad for Tim Dalton when he said, "that really hurts..". Still a piece of shit, but he delivers that line really well.
999 is the phone number for emergency services here in the UK. Although 911 does work now cause idiots like me have watched too many USA films and TV. To be fair I was absolutely hammered lol.
I really enjoyed this movie, very clever and funny. One thing is that I was able to figure out who was behind everything pretty early (which I am usually terrible at). Once I knew they were trying to subvert expectations it made it easy. So the rest of the movie I was expecting each twist and it took a bit out of the enjoyment.
Not since Ant-Man vs Ant-Man & the Wasp have 2 In Review movies been as close in quality as Hot Fuzz vs Shaun of the Dead But I do believe Kinda Funny has made the right choice this day
Yeah, Shaun of the Dead had me hooked because it was with zombies and so well done. The rest of the trilogy just never connected with me, especially Hot Fuzz due to the genre involved.
okay i didn't like this movie and the reason was the ridiculous over the top gore! Its too much! And i dont think i'm alone in this. I bought the movie, saw it, and almost threw up because of what i saw! Before that the action was good, and the movie was kinda funny, but after that i threw it away, i dont care what anybody says it did not need to be this gory!!!!!
This is one of the greatest comedies ever made, period.
"The internet is so slow in Kansas they still think Colin works at Kinda Funny." God I love this show
Bruh... this burn made me laugh so fucking hard
Knew right away this would be referenced in one of the top comments. What a great Greg line.
999 is the emergency number in the UK the equivalent of 911, not just a basic door code haha
Id argue that's even more of a basic door code then
Omfg, Greg continuing the Kansas jokes makes me laugh so hard.
This movie is absolutely masterful, as close to perfection as it can possibly be
@Ewan Callister Sure is and as a fellow brit I love the recognition it gets just being based of a generic town in England
It was co written by Simon Pegg. Both he and Edgar grew up in small villages in the West Country, they just ended up using Edgar's for the location
Super late comment, but the fight in the model village is pay off to a comment that one of the Andys made earlier in the film. "if you want to be a big cop in a small town, fuck off up the model village"

The pronunciation of 'twat' in this makes me laugh every time being the Englishman that I am
I feel like it’s that hard a that makes it offensive and funny 😂
Triggers me lol
Like they watched the movie right? How can they still be pronouncing it like that 😂
@@CRTurtle As a fellow Englishman I assumed that's how Americans say it
Same! It takes all the power away from the word! Hilarious
Just for you Nick, Dr Hatcher was Jack Travis the baddie in Lethal Weapon 3 and Tom Weaver the cctv guy was the Equalizer from the tv show. And the Rev. Was the baddie in Raiders of the lost ark
This movie is awesome, I can’t believe how this got made 14 years ago. It feels so modern to me.
It's timeless 👌
Yarp
This and Baby Driver are my favourite Edgar Wright films
I lived around the corner from where this film was made and it was always very close to home! Especially as a family friend was in the film! Humour and writing is top class
Another tidbit, Edgar's friend Joe who contributed to Danny's DVD collection is Joe Cornish, writer/director of Attack The Block.
i love attack the block !! and joe cornish is great
He also is credited with Edgar for the story on Ant-Man! What could've been...
About an hour in Andy wonders who co wrote this with Edgar... it was Simon Pegg! They have a lot of videos on youtube of the process its incredible
I've seen this film dozens and dozens of times and it never gets old. A modern masterpiece
Yarp
I think I’m in the minority in me liking Hot Fuzz more than Shaun of the Dead. Love them both. But Hot Fuzz is in my top 10 movies ever.
I am the zombie guy in my group of friends and honestly, I agree with you.
I totally agree with you.
Hot fuzz is my favourite movie ever!! Shaun of the Dead is probably also in the top 10
Yarp.
Can’t believe they didn’t mention the Shaun of the dead dvd in the supermarket
“He is not judge Judy and executioner!”
I have never laughed so hard and consistently good very time I hear it. This movie is awesome.
This is my favorite out of the Cornetto Trilogy! It's so much ridiculous fun 😆
Yarp.
This film just so perfectly captures rural living in England, and the closest village to me is called Sandford! LOVE THIS IN REVIEW SERIES
Agreed. Moved to rural North East Hertfordshire 3yrs ago after living in South East “Lon-don” all my life. They have their positives and negatives.
Hot Fuzz is deffo my favourite, but I grew up with villages like this, and people like this. Hot Fuzz is my favorite of the Cornetto trilogy. Pilgrim is my favorite Wright and probably top 3 movies of all time for me.
Bill Bailey plays two different characters in the film. One of the characters reads "Complicity" by Iain Banks, while the other reads two novels by Iain M. Banks. I love Hot Fuzz because there are so many satirised elements of SW England and the region I grew up in.
The thing with the church is actual a bit different to how Tim explained. The place it was filmed (Wells) is actually a city and what makes something a city is having a cathedral so that's what they would've had to edit it out.
UK ITV 2 viewers what up !
Fun fact: 40% of the budget for that channel goes straight into Edgar Wright’s bank account.
So true. Also most Sunday afternoons you can guarantee that Twins or Kindergarten Cop will be on.
@@nkonig1 I mean they both pale in comparison to The Mummy returns, the king of ITV2
@@tomofthepops 😂. You got me there!
Lads it’s that time of the week again.
Thank you Nick for breaking the tie. It was for the greater good.
It's so hard to rank all of Edgar's movies
Kevin just instigated a war by saying the Irish are British 😆
This is legitimately my favorite movie of all time, I’ve seen it an ungodly amount of times. Cant wait to see the boys talk about it!
Best movie that will ever be on In Review.
I know they are unlikely to do Ant-man because they've already done it in the MCU in Review but I wonder if they'll count The Adventures of Tintin as an Edgar Wright film or if it will only be Edgar Wright's directed works.
1:08:10 - Literally had baked beans on toast, as a snack while watching this
I never saw this movie growing up but I'm so glad I did after rewatching shaun of the dead last week. I love watching these movies alongside the KF crew. Thank you guys for the awesome content EVERYDAY 🙏
"The internet is so slow in Kansas, they think Colin still works at Kinda Funny." Hahaha goddamn. Greg Miller. Loves Superman, hates Kansas. 😆😆😆
My secret delight is for sure the Living Statue. I find that bit way too funny.
I feel like the intro for this series should just be the standard KF opener
I can’t wait for next week. Worlds end is my favorite of the trilogy. It also is the most emotionally deep. Can’t wait!
The village doctor is also the villain in Lethal Weapon 3!
im so happy we are doing this
“Everyone’s packing ‘round here.
Oh yeah, like who?
Farmers.
Who else?
Farmers mums.”
I love this film
That intro never gets old
Hot Fuzz is the best and has a far better story than Shaun of the Dead. This feels more like a complete movie than Shaun of the Dead.
That intro gets me so hyped every time.
The entire Cornetto trilogy is Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright writing the movie, Edgar Wright directing and Simon Pegg and Nick Frost being the leads
If you love Hot Fuzz, you will really love A Touch of Cloth from Charlie Brooker. It's an even more serious and also more funny show.
Have you geezers seen Spaced? You should.
Despite Timothy Dalton's best efforts, Shaun of the Dead slightly edges this movie out for me.
Here. Comes. The. Fuzz.
Hot Fuzz is dope but Shaun is a better film. We already for the drop in quality for the next movie in the Cornetto trilogy?
Interesting fact I found was the reverend was played by Belloc from Raiders of the Lost Ark

As a 90s kid this intro starts off and I'm thinking "is this Saved by the Bell" in review show.
I'd love to see your take on 'In Bruges,' written and directed by Martin McDonagh - the absolute genius. The film has a darker tone than HF but I'd say it's written just as good, if not better, and Farrell, Fiennes and Gleeson put in ridiculously good performances.

I’m surprised you guys like it so much with it being very British humour. Thought it wouldn’t translate very well to an American audience
The shoplifter in the tracksuit was also in game of thrones. One of the nights watch
Is it just me or did they completely skip over the grocery store fight scenes? It has literally the best joke of the movie in it.
I was expecting a plot song doing reference to Lovefool.
Man this movie is a classic, this in review was great too lol
Hot Fuzz is light years beyond Shaun because it has so much detail, and "inside" jokes sprinkled throughout every single scene that you laugh harder on the 4th/5th watch through than you do the 1st because it keeps on giving. Shaun for the most part blows it's load on the 1st watch.
Is it possibly the best film ever made? Yarp!
The Peter Jackson thing blew my brain 🤯
I know you're not supposed to feel bad for him, but I felt bad for Tim Dalton when he said, "that really hurts..". Still a piece of shit, but he delivers that line really well.
As a Missourian, I approve of the Kansas commentary.
beans and toast is a breakfast thing for some hispanic cultures as well
Broken Lizard In Review sounds like a good idea
1. Hot Fuzz
2. Shaun of the Dead
Oh behalf of America I'd like to apologize to the majority of Ireland for Kevin saying you are all part of Britain.
If we take Empire to be the best in the original star wars trilogy, Hot Fuzz is the best in the Cornetto Trilogy!
Hot fuzz is the best Edgar Wright movie hands down
Are you not including Spaced (TV series) in EWIR?
Bro after watching this movie I wish marvel let edgar wright make ant-man
999 is the phone number for emergency services here in the UK. Although 911 does work now cause idiots like me have watched too many USA films and TV. To be fair I was absolutely hammered lol.
Not going to lie, I hate all the Kansas disses, but like, eh. I’ll still listen.
(Hi, I’m from Kansas 👋)
I really liked this movie upon my rewatch, but it also felt long to me. Idk if I'm the only one.
You guys have never seen The World's End?! Boy, you are missing out
This is like if Hollywood made a midsummer murder
2 Harry Potter actors? Try 3. I hate they’ve all forgotten that Bill Nighy was in Harry Potter.
l love Hot Fuzz so much and it definitely deserves the top spot. I am so glad Nick came through for it in the end.
British People prefer Hot Fuzz.
Americans prefer Shaun Of The Dead.
That intro though.
One of Edgar Wright’s 3 masterpieces, this movie is INCREDIBLE.
Shout out to the goose.
I need an excuse to rewatch resident evil movies.. Kinda funny.. I am looking at you
I’ll accept the guvnor’s and the banging the rocks together but don’t talk shit about beans on toast Miller!! Big Kev dog’s knows what’s going on
police officer* get it right haiku boys
Is KF getting into a beef with EW???
The Greater Good...
Hey, where's Colin at?
You're not in Kansas anymore
Kevin at 38:18 hahaha
Bill Shakespeare
K so Greggs so a lantern but I feel like he is sooooooo guy gardner cause like hell I see him as Kyle ryaner
Quentin Tarantino in review please!
I really enjoyed this movie, very clever and funny. One thing is that I was able to figure out who was behind everything pretty early (which I am usually terrible at). Hot Fuzz > Shaun of the Dead
1:09:50
Great episode on a side note good to know that Nick’s Bond opinions are trash
Not since Ant-Man vs Ant-Man & the Wasp have 2 In Review movies been as close in quality as Hot Fuzz vs Shaun of the Dead
