Yes!! It's available here on YT. I really lost it when he meets the other one also escorting a hero home. I don't want to spoil it for anyone so I'll leave it there. This really was an excellent movie and Kevin Bacon wears the uniform well. You can't understand how hard it must be unless you watch this movie.

The movie is about 2 men ; Chance & the man who escorted him home. You do need to watch this movie !!!

My dad has a Marine Corp burial. I only remember trembling through the whole burial ceremony with the flag over his casket and the marines standing over it. It gives me chills still.
I totally understood this movie when I watched it. As a Marine I have done my share of funeral details, including one for a Marine I had served with back in 1977 who was killed in the barracks bombing in Beruit in 1983. I've met with the body escorts and saw the reactions of the families. During the first Gulf War I was assigned to the Joint Service Personal Effects depot whose job it was to inventory, clean and return the personal effects of a fallen service member to their next of kin, I've been to the Port Mortuary at Dover Delaware and have seen the work they do there. This movie hit home.
Great art deserves great emotions. And I greatly prefer they used the Real Chance in this. That we ALL had a chance to meet the Real Chance. To see him. Thanks for the end credits.
I've been on a few "Angle Flights" and it is sobering and silent inside that AC-130 when that flag draped coffin is secured in the the center of that bird in plain sight. The only thing more heartbreaking is when you are assigned as a family advocate to dedicate all your time to the family of the lost hero helping them through arrangement that have to be made while still comforting them with their loss.
The thing about this movie is that is completely true story. At the end they show a lot of pictures and videos of Chance as he grew up. This movie had a powerful effect on Kevin Bacon.
Wow. Just... wow. I'd definitely love for you to check out the Budweiser Clydesdales commercials! Specifically their Super Bowl commercials and the one remembering 9/11. Absolutely devastating but so beautiful and uplifting.
Dude, you need to watch the entire movie! As many times as I've seen it, I have yet to make it through without blubbering like a baby. It is so worth it!
I received a copy of this at the Vietnam Veterans Convention in Louisville about 10 years ago. Got a signed copy from the real person that Bacon played. Very moving. Just watching this brings tears to my eys.
Have the movie and everytime I watch it, the tears flow. One of the scenes that tore me up, while during a conversation with the young Army Sergeant seen in here, who was also escorting a fallen Soldier, if he knew who he was escorting, and the Sergeants response, hit me like a rock.
I agree with the others that to get the full effect, one must see the movie. I imagine it would be very hard for a combat Veteran that has lost Battle Buddies. May God bless all of our Warriors.
My grandfather was in WWI on the front line in France, he was a stretcher bearer and my mom said he only told her one story about the war. He and his partner were sent over the top (as medical staff they weren't allowed to carry a weapon) when they were attacked by a German Soldier. His partner took out his knife and dispatched the German and they went about their duty. My Grandfather came home a changed man, he suffered from "shell shock" today it's called PTSD and the men were told to get on with their life. He self medicated with alcohol for 20 years. When he got sober he met my Grandmother and they had 4 children and 12 grandchildren. Grandpa was a quiet and reserved man who loved watching his grandkids play. He passed into memory in 1974.
The movie is fantastic. It shows how we take care of our fallen heroes. It's from the beginning of the body arriving home to the cleaning and dressing of the soldier (this is based on a true story "Taking Chance"). He never left Chance's side, even sleeping in the airport hangar and the funeral home. It also shows how passengers on the plane react when they find out they're on an "Angel Flight", the crew on the ground unloading the casket and how we honor them on the final drive home. It's very emotional. Kevin Bacon can play any role beautifully, but I think he outdid himself in this one. More recently, a pilot for a large airline, who'd lost his father in the Vietnam War, received a call that 50+ years later, his father's remains had been identified. He flew his daddy home. His co-pilot made the announcement over the intercom that unbeknownst to them, they'd been on an Angel Flight. To the poster of this video: as you have discovered, "Taking Chance" evokes emotion from the depths of one's soul. Should you visit the US, I encourage you to visit Arlington National Cemetery and watch the changing of the guard at the guard and, perhaps, a wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns. Arlington is a somber, sacred place, resting ground for over 400,000 of those who have served our country. I know of but one irreverent orange-faced buffoon who desecrated that place who stood over the grave of a fallen recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor and stuck his thumb up from his fist accompanied with a stupid grin on his face. I've been to the National Cemetery of the Pacific (Honolulu, Hawaii), I've never been to the cemetery at Normandy. But these and I'm very sure, as well as the resting place for British military, are equally sacred. At the Hawaii cemetery, the words inscribed below Lady Columbia standings on the bow of a ship holding a laurel branch "The solemn pride that must be yours, to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of Freedom" from Abraham Lincoln to a Mrs. Bixby who lost her six sons during our civil war. I served from 1971 to 1974. Death is part of the bargain. For us (the individual soldier, sailor, marine or airman) we can accept our death. We would rather be killed than maimed. The true sorrow and heartache is for those we leave behind. If we are wounded, slightly or severely then that heartache lingers in us and them. Pray for all of our 'heroes' who have given so much for us to be able to live here free (at least for now). They didn't give themselves up for left wing ideology. They gave them selves up for the dream that was America!

I've been to the National Cemetery of the Pacific (Honolulu, Hawaii),
I've never been to the cemetery at Normandy. But these and I'm very sure, as well as the resting place for British military, are equally sacred.
At the Hawaii cemetery, the words inscribed below Lady Columbia standings on the bow of a ship holding a laurel branch
"The solemn pride that must be yours, to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of Freedom" from Abraham Lincoln to a Mrs. Bixby who lost her six sons during our civil war.

Poignant. So important that each soul's story be known.
Hello Don 🙋🏻♀️ Hope you had a great Father’s Day/ weekend.
I did Jean Thanks. Was a bit delicate after too much wine and beer 😂
This is based on a true story.
That made me cry.😢😢
I have watched this twice and balled both times.
We’re told in the movie that the escort volunteered for another office tour. The Sergeant they showed was escorting his brother back home.
Excellent Movie! Amazon Prime also
