Will the surround sound not be available when used without the extension? what if I want to use it while gaming without ext, will the gaming experience be worse? enemy footsteps, etc. Specifically how much is the benefit of using that 7.1 extension while gaming?
No they are not in fact the usb card does not work on the consoles. I also feel using these headphones with phones the volume is pretty low even with full volume because they need a bit of power to drive them and on my Xiaomi they did not work at all. With console I connected them the my controller and had no problems. On my laptop also there was no problem because will they where getting enough power. If you want to use them on your laptop then I suggest use the card it's become instantly better. 7. 1 is definitely helpful in games like cs go and even in games like metro exodus any game with awesome sound Masters you'll enjoy these headphones. I would not recommend them if you want to only use it on a phone unless you also want to buy a external dac and Amp with these.
Surround sound is for movies and stuff to make them sound more real and stuff and games have directional audio and it won't matter if u use surround sound or not the thing that matters is tremble etc for gunshots and footsteps and my friend has it and I am going to buy and u can pin point where the enemy is

Btw the cloud core's dont come with the valour ear cups. If u use those ear cups u cant go back to leather ear cups maaaan its soo gooooood!! But i dont like 7.1 surround sound. Overall its worth every buck!!
