    My dad used to run his irrigation wells with Moline engines. He had a couple 605s but never an 800. Dad also had a G1000 Vista Diesel tractor.

    I had to start up a old Hercules 6 cylinder. That also needed a mag, I a 6 Cylinder distributor from a Chevy, Cut it in half, Machined the end put a sprocket, ran a shaft from the motor with sprocket, ran a chain drive, , It was a very large Generator, from a airport from 1955, it was Military, Hadn't run in 50 years Started right up, Ran like a new motor.

      Being a backup generator it probably was well cared for and relatively low hours
      Sounds like a fun project

    Put it in a Old Track Machine, I wouldn't take that Motor apart, Just do what I did, Piece a cake,Took Me a Hour, The Bracket was the Hardest Part, so you can time it. even that was not that hard just took time. Good Luck Like to see it Run.

    An LP engine with good maintenance will go over 10,000 hours without an overhaul.

    Knew some guys that had Buda about 2ice that size for a sawmill. Never did pit it together but it was HUGE! 6-banger gas job I think. Nice old rig. Waiting to hear it run. Blessings

      Buda made some big stuff gas and diesel
      Hall Scott built some really big stuff too

      This was a Buda. It had it cast on it somewhere. HUGE blamed thing. Crank start. Might've been kerosene. Been YEARS and I can barely remember 30 minutes ago.@@DrRust

      Seems like Hall Scott made fire truck motors. Maybe the old gas flathead V-12's in LaFrances?@@DrRust

    • @DrRust
      @DrRust  10 місяців тому

      The hall Scott I saw was a 1100 cubic inch 4 cylinder laying flat under the floor of a bus it had 8 spark plugs I currently can’t remember who did the v12s but I didn’t think hall Scott did maybe continental? I know one v12 was made by pierce arrow then later was put in fire trucks

      We had a 42 and a 48 LaFrance pumper with the V-12 gas jobs with the double plug ignition systems in each. Sounded like a flathead Ford starting up and ran smooth as silk. I have no idea who made them. been too long. Had a Studebaker/Reo deuce and a half for a tanker..@@DrRust

      If it's run on propane it probably never need bearings or pistons. Have ever seen a propane engine ever taken down. They usually look like new.

      Nice engine. Would be cool to restore it and have it on a nice trailer if you don't use it for something else.
