Great video Mike doesn't seem like people understand when a farmer is working with big equipment on the road . And they don't seem to slow down. Glad to hear your dad is recovering well
Great video Mike. My cousin ran a tire shop. Picked up a customers tractor, turning into the shop, all lights working, a motorcycle passed the line of cars that was behind thw tractor, and ran into the tractor at a high rate of speed. My cousin was fine, but unfortunately, the motorcycle rider lost his life.
I drove articulated tractor with a piece of big tillage equipment or a tank manure spreader, believe you me no one even tried bothering me… but I was in a 4020 some and I get some quick draw people… it did irritate me… had many very close calls. Had one actually going a ditch when I was moved over to let them by while I was in the combine. They wanted to sue me because they said it was my fault, keep in mind I was moved over as far as I could be it was them that had the issue.. I hope it gets better….. great video
Fingers crossed but I really don't see it getting any better to be honest. I've also been passed on the left when I was driving a 10 wheeler about to make a left hand turn with a blinker on
Nice video Mike, that steep shoot must be a real pain when you have a flood. Maybe you are lucky and your cows don’t ever break water lines. Have a good day.
Thanks Jason. Yeah unfortunately I'm not so lucky. I went into the barn after the cold spell one morning to find a line broke and the whole barn flooded. I don't like that high pitch. I want to run it out straight and make that area into a manure pit and load it with a skid steer or loader. My dad all his life pulled the spreader under the shoot so can't get over why I would want to do it that way
Yep get that in UK people try to pass when turning I've actually had one hit me what they don't realise is it's going to hurt them more than me 😮 Good job getting muck out 👍👍
Morning Mike glad to hear your dad is doing well. Man I hate going up and down the road with equipment anymore. Its hard to see behind you sometimes even with mirrors. If I have to move the round baler in a high traffic area I have my wife or brother follow me. People go past you blow the horn and whatever I just wave at them with the middle finger. Had a guy pull in the field one day bumpin his gumbs until I opened the cab door. I don't think he expected that. Never saw him again
Thank you Scott. Its not as bad up here as it is down by you. I know the boys got hit one time on the tractor. They gave the turning left hand signal and the girl tried telling the cop that the boys were waving her on.
I always crowd the center of the road when I need to turn left to discourage passing. You need a Kuhn Slinger spreader - discharge is on the left! THAT would stop passing! 😂 Great video, Mike! And I was hit once making a Left turn. The idiot said he thought my signal was me saying he could pass! 🙄😯
Wow! Now that is a new one. My cousin's were hit making a left turn once and the girl tried telling the cop when he did a left turn hand signal that my cousin was waving her on....but to think a turn signal is telling the other driver to pass, wow
@@mikep7810 Yeah, but the guy didn't want law enforcement involved, tractor (5425 open station) wasn't damaged, and his car had zebra stripes from the front tire and some dents to match. We never heard from him again.. 🤔😂
Those cars passing by on the left when driving farm machinery really burns me. Grumpy Farmer was talking about it during his video last spring I remember. I don't know why some people can't be more patient.... Or lack common sense. We were fortunate this winter. We were able to spread every day. It was windy and snowy a couple of times but there was never enough snow to get hung up in.
I've been able to spread every day with the acceptation of a week. I figured since it was so nice out it would be nice to get caught up a little on the manure
Love your videos mike you are a very educated great guy, I noticed your forage boxes are auger are they better than regular forage boxes? Keep up the great videos and god bless you and your family, hope your dad gets feeling better
Thank you Jeff. Our old forage boxes had the cross conveyor chain to unload out of the front and when we went to these H&S wagons they had the twin augers. The twin augers have been great. No need to worry about loose or broken chains. Just grease the drive end before use
We pull up with a loaded manure spreader and just spread it in the shed. Then come with the skid steer or wheel loader and push the manure in and pile it up
After numerous close calls on almost getting hit on the highway that runs past our farm and getting run into once which totaled the tractor and gave me a severe concussion, now if I am pulling into my farm, making a left hand turn which I signaled for, and someone still tries to pass me on the left. If they actually stop before hitting me, I am now to the point, and have done it multiple times now, where I will stop the tractor and block the road, then express my frustration to that driver before then continuing into the farm.
@@mikep7810 it was 7 years ago that I got hit. So all good. But it definitely changed how I deal with people passing on the left when I'm turning left.
@@mikep7810 I get the same thing running forklift. All I can say is always think the person behind you isn't paying attention. Especially near your farm.
I know my farming buddy and me have talked when we are getting ready to turn we start driving on the middle line don’t give en enough room to pass sorry you had to deal with that buddy
You could mount a 4x8 ft flashing arrow pointing the direction you are turning with 2 naked women pole dancing on top of it and people would still not notice it.
I drive truck for the farm that I work for another truck and I were turning in to a field off a main Highway I turn on my turn Signal back 1/4 mile the car passed on the left I blew my horn he stopped 5 feet from the other truck 😒
I have been passes on the left while making a left turn in a 10 wheeler before. Thought at first my blinker must be out. Pulled in the field and saw that it was blinking
Best wishes for your father’s health. Stay safe out there. I greatly appreciate all of your video’s.
Thank you Glen
Not a chem-trail in the sky , Mike !!!!! Yummy poopy splatter , thank goodness for windshields !!!!!
That's for sure. Glad to have the windshield indeed

Thank you Paul
I remember those days well. No more manure for me - only crops. I do wish I had manure for the fields.
I don't blame you. My dad always says the manure is liquid gold for the crops

Thank you Matt. I hope you keep making progress every day and each day gets a little better
@@mikep7810 thank you
Great video. The biggest problem with people today is that they don't know how to drive without a phone in their hands
Thanks Jay. That's very true
Thank you for your farming video Sir. It brings back memories, but our cleaner shoot was out in the open. That was fun in Minnesota
Glad you enjoy them Gene. I bet that was fun in the winter months having the shoot outside.

Great vid! I would go down the centerline whenever I had a silage wagon or any machinery behind .
Thank you Gene
More farmers should be as conscientious as you and scrape off the obvious hunks that are bound to fall off on the road. Thanks for that!
Thank you
Great video take care of your farm and family
Thank you John
Good job o n your farm 🚜 mike p

Great video , people can be so careless, they just don't understand this equipment !
That's for sure!

Thank you. Hopefully it was just a bad day and we don't have too many more of those close calls

When I get into a left turn deal I take up the whole left lane before I turn if possible! Especially if you can’t see who or what is behind you!!
Its always interesting out there
sad people have no respect for farm equipment glad your dad is on the mend
Thank you Dana
another good video
Thank you
That looks like a Patz barn cleaner.
It sure is
I hate roading equipment anymore, people are just in too much of a hurry
Yeah its crazy for sure
Just this early fall here a young lady ran right into the back of a spreader on the road. Very sad situation
That is very sad
How do you move the manure to the storage area?
We pull up with a loaded manure spreader and just spread it in the shed. Then come with the skid steer or wheel loader and push the manure in and pile it up
I have always thought too many moving parts on an h&s spreader. We run 114 Kuhn twin augar
That's a good spreader
@@mikep7810 we average 15 years from a spreader without major repairs.
How do you get the manure to that building

No worries people including tank trailers are passing with cars approaching. Oncoming traffic just has to get out of their way.
Its amazing what goes on out there

Was the manure shed an ncrs project through the usda?
Yes
Have you thought of putting forks on your bucket for manure?
Not really
I was turning right in to the drive way of the farm and a car started to pass on the right left 10 feet of skid mark
Its amazing what they think out there
