    Hi!
    I owned one since 4 days and after the first 10 seconds it became a part of my body.
    She is an absolute beauty in every respect!
    I have a Samurai Manty Ray, a Sumo, a 5 Sports, a SKX 700, a Glossy and a few others more
    but this tool is just amazing!
    This watch will never leave me again!

    Totally agree...I bought my MM300 about 2 months ago and it really is an amazing piece. I own a sub a well, which is a great watch. However the block case, polishing is just so good. I did buy an aftermarket bracelet for about $200. I then put the Seiko clasp on that bracelet and it just elevated the whole thing. Great video...

      Agree with the bracelets as something seiko doesnt do so well. Functional but not very good looking.

    The Rolex will hold it’s value better- as it should given it’s cost- but the MM 300 is much better watch both in engineering, case finishing, movement finishing, regardless of cost. I’ve owned both.

    MM300 is my favorite watch. I’ve owned most of Rolex and Omega and Tudor. Can’t speak to higher horology but this is my favorite watch under 20k. Beats the pants off of SMP300, The Sub, even the red line Sea Dweller imo. I remember looking down at my sea dweller and wishing it was the MM300 I had sold. It doesn’t make sense but when you spend some time with this piece you’ll understand! Yes the bracket could be better, but it won’t ruin the experience for you. The only thing it lacks is brand recognition. I can’t enjoy it without other heavy hitters in my collection. This gets more wrist time but I know I have “nicer” watches at home… watch collecting doesn’t make sense, you learn to just go with it. It looks nicer on rubber than any other proper dive watch, yes, even the seamaster. The only negative is the mental battle it will cause you to rage that it’s not a proper Swiss piece when you get around other watch people. Especially if it’s a newer model without the MM text on dial. Again, watch collector problems. Own a Rolex and then wear the Marinemaster everyday. Have a good life 👍

    Yup, the best all round dive watch ever made. I've owned Subs for 25 years. Only Rolex's Sea-Dweller 116600 comes close to MM300. The Blancpain 50F is the nicer luxury prop and the Tuna the better pure diver. That's heady company for a $3k watch. Importantly, the MM300 clasp allows the watch to clamp over a wetsuit without removal - very useful. The Rolex extensions are nice for casual comfort, but not great for diving. And it is a characterful, charming watch. RIP Marinemaster. The 'X' branded models are very good, but not as cool.

      @erikkinginnyc  Рік тому +1

      Yes, better than a Rolex Sub, there's lots - Glasshute Sea Q, Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, IWC Aquatimer......but the amazing thing about the Marinemaster is price! Thanks for watching.

    First I think we need to stop comparing everything to Rolex as some how being the reference watch everything has to be compared to. Rolex is still a mass market watch. I have had three of them and sold them all. Good watches yes, retain value, iconic, etc, but not even close to the best watches out there for less $ or more. You own a Rolex because you want a Rolex...

  • @denis888red

    $2000 is a great price for this watch. I own a Submariner, a Seamaster but a number of other Divers including a Turtle and an MM200. (You'll gather I'm not snooty about what I like and will wear. Seiko are a great company). I handled the MM300 at the Seiko (It's pronounced 'Saycoh' not 'Seekoh' incidentally Erik) Boutique in London. It really is a super nice piece that exudes quality. For me though, all in it was just a tad too heavy... (a good idea on the rubber bracelet). The other upside is that some toerag is not likely to try and mug you for it.... Tip Erik: It's a good idea to mention your wrist measurement whenever posting a wrist shot 🙂

    • @denis888red
      @denis888red Рік тому +2

      P.S. You're right. As to why they took 'Marinemaster' off the dial... Crazy. Just plain crazy. When you pay 3k for a Seiko Diver, you expect a little kudos and individuality on your dial. Utterly brainless marketing decision.

And I prefer the 017 to the newer MM300s; I think it's a much better looking watch. Oh, you wear a Tuna BECAUSE it's intimidating.

    Thanks for the brave review. Brave in a sense that all the Rolex snobs will be right down your throat and you know it. I have owned a couple of Rolexes and now own a nice rare Datejust, blue with Roman Numeral dial. I also own many odd brands and some Seikos. Let's face it; the Japanese have everyone in the world beaten by a long shot in regards to precision for the money, in everything they do, and in every industry, watches included. A Seiko is probably 10x the value of a Rolex, unless you are only considering it a financial investment. When comparing apples to apples, pure hardware wise, it is hands down Seiko over Rolex.
    Also, almost all reviews rate the GS bracelet inferior to Rolex. That is pure BS as the bracelet outperforms the Rolex bracelet in the real world.

    • @ralex3531
      @ralex3531 Рік тому +1

      Not sure if you have an older Rolex or not, but there is no way that a GS bracelet is better than a modern Rolex bracelet. I’ve owned two GS, and they are awesome, but the bracelet is the weak point. It’s by no means bad, but it is not as good as Rolex, Breitling, Tudor, or Omega. Regarding accuracy, you can’t compare quartz accuracy to mechanical, it’s two different technologies.

    Only if you cannot afford a Rolex, then it is obvious! My Sea dweller 4000 has never left my arm since I bought it in 1981, only to adjust the date. It has never had a service, it still in perfect shiny condition. I live at the sea and are in it almost 200 days of the year, and its time accuracy is still better than 4 sec/day. Besides, if I sold it now, I can get 34 times as much as I paid for it. Show me a Seiko that is on par. There is no comparison at all. A Seiko still remains the poor man's Rolex.

    • @zivkovicable
      @zivkovicable Рік тому +1

      There's a big difference in being able to buy a new Rolex in 1981 and today, even if you've got the cash. I inherited from my dad, who was comfortable but not rich. He just walked into a store on a whim & walked out with a new Sub half an hour later, costing less than a months income. A laughable idea now. I own three Seiko's & they get more wrist time. Sure the Rolex has a resale value many times over the price of all my Seiko's but I'm not selling any of them, so it's moot.

    This. Other than the prestige and heritage, which to me are secondary, the MM 300 easily bests the Rolex in about everything else. I can name each and every one but it's all subjective anyway, but if you were to take an objective survey, I'll bet my money that the MM will dominate.
    Also, I would think the reason they removed the "Marinemaster" line is because it's a little cheesy, and I think I'd have to agree to that. And the reason it's become so is because everybody's doing it, especially adding word "master". I think Seiko just wants to continue to have their own identity.

    Hola amigo, me encantó la revisión que le hiciste al reloj, yo tengo el sbdx025 hace dos años y la verdad es que es un reloj impresionante, el reloj corre a +5 segundos con la esfera hacia arriba y +1 segundo con la corona hacia arriba, mucho mejor que algunos suizos de mi colección, mi meta a mediano plazo es tener un Grand Seiko Hi-Beat,me encanta la marca Seiko, tengo el marinemaster, el sarb033, el pogue, y el sarb017. Estube evaluando bastante tiempo si comprarme el Seiko MarineMaster o el Tudor black bay Usado, al final me compré el marinemaster, me enamoró su caja monobloque realmente es única y también su calibre que es de una manufactura increíble, este reloj no tiene nada que envidiar a un reloj suizo de $5000, estoy muy contento con el reloj, Seiko no alardea con su precisión pero en este reloj es mucho mejor que un cosc, lo tengo ya casi dos años y es muy muy estable es su funcionamiento, un saludo amigo desde Chile, recién descubrí tu canal y es de mucha calidad, ojalá sigas teniendo más suscriptores.

Two very different watches… One is a dressed up tool watch… The other is a dress watch, dressed down, to look like tool watch. Beyond that it’s all preference because neither will ever be used for the original intended purpose…

      Sorree… Speaking as the owner of both a Rolex and the Seiko (I own both brands)-,and also as a certified diver- thank you for your pontifications- the Seiko is the finer of the 2 by far. For example: Monocoq case on the Seiko- eliminates possibility of water leaking through case back (because there is no case back!). @ 900 m Rolex Sea Dweller requires a helium escape valve; The Seiko MM 300 needs no valve: the construction of the Seiko case is so solid tha helium cannot enter the case as on the Rolex…

    Seiko will never be "better" than a Rolex. Maybe as good quality...yes. But better? NO. Remember, Rolex is selling swag, not a time piece. If you want the best time piece, use your cell phone clock. Nothing is more accurate than your cell phone. What Rolex is really selling is swag. Ex: "Hey...look at me! I can spend $20K on something that is not needed and you can't." That what a Rolex is. It's in your face. It's proof of wealth. It has little to do with accurate time. Seiko is a value time piece, unlike a Rolex. So yeah....I guess Seiko could be better in terms of a watch. But nobody buys a Rolex for it's watch function. A $40 Casio does just as good of a job, if all you want is a watch.

      @MrCuckoobox Рік тому +2

      @@erikkinginnyc Erik, I appreciate what you are saying and the review. I am very hard on watches. I have had watches with Hardlex and Flame Fusion Crystals and scratched them both. Can you scratch a Sapphire Crystal? Yes, but it is very hard. You are more likely to crack/shatter it. I have not done that yet or scratched a Sapphire Crystal.
      I have scratched plenty of Al Bezels. It does not take much. Ceramic Bezels can be scuffed and scratched. It is harder than AL, and the scratches are usually minimal. For me, I will look almost any watch to see what it offers, but will not purchase it if does not have Sapphire Crystal and if it a Dive Watch it has to have Ceramic Bezel (unless it were a Vintage or Antique).
      You are free to choose what ever you like but I would not spend hundreds/thousands of $$ on a Dive Watch that did have these specs. It would drive me crazy to have $3k watch with scratches on the Crystal and Bezel. It would not take me long to get the scratches. After all Dive Watches are designed to take a lot of abuse.
