Astounding. Just like watching a game. As an amateur rider I can´t believe the speed and control I´m seeing. Fantastic to see what is possible. Keep safe, Godspeed!
@5:48 I have a hard time hauling ass in sand cause of this kind of crap. I think the more you ride in dunes the more cautious you get. Also massive ditches in the sand after a lip. Sand does crazy stuff.
Love the videos! Nice to see what it should look like when I ride. Just a thought, if you ended your videos with a quick 30-60 race recap/what place you took (similar to the style where you showed your bike at the beginning of this video) it would take your vids to the next level. Keep up the good work!
Thanks ! Glad you enjoy the videos! I will start adding a short race report to the end of the race videos! That’s a great idea. Then you can see how tired I am!
I fully agree with this comment. I'm always blown away by Josh's speed and race craft. Real time race commentary (strategy, key moments, etc...) or post race analysis with recap would be a huge bonus.

Took my new 300 2 stroke to the sand to try it out and I was disappointed with it. My 450 is definitely the way to go when I go back. Great riding. Crazy fast.
Probably more with bike set up and riding technique for the 2-stroke. Ridden well, a 150lb guy can sing a 125 through the sand. The 300 has plenty of power, and bike set up makes a huge difference.
@@EarthSurferUSA yeah it goes fine just not like the 450 with all that torque and a little more hp. I rode a crf150 in the sand a few times and that was a challenge.
This video is clear evidence of how much better 4 strokes are for sand riding. I have a 300 2 stroke, which is by no means a slouch, but in the dunes I literally have to rev the nuts off the thing to even stay close to my mates on their 4 strokes. My mate has a 1998 YZ400F with only 4 gears, and he comes past me on his back wheel, while I'm pinned in 5th, like I'm standing still😂. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?
I just barely put a new piston in it before this race. I have owned it 15 months. I'm estimating between 120-140 hours on it. I can have the dealer check the ECU to confirm. That's probably a little too long. I would recommend most riders change a piston a little sooner. With how aggressive I am on this motor I should probably be doing a piston at 40-50 hours. Honestly after replacing the original piston it didn't look bad at all. Cylinder still had visible cross hatching throughout the entire surface and very minimal carbon buildup. The new piston was a stock vertex piston size "B". Felt like it had just a little bit more power not much though. This bike runs very smooth.
@@ridewiththeknights Thats impressive to get 140 out of it based on how you ride! I wanted to ask because i just put a B vertex in my ktm 200 with 170 hours and wanted to know how long a normal change is.
You need good tires for it for sure. I can't wait to try that rear Dunlop MX14 tire for the sandy whooped out trails I am riding. These guys are flying, (I can do that too, or used to), but I don't like my handlebars rotated forward like that. You ride back further on the bike to keep weight off the front tire. In the whoops, with your weight back, grab the seat with your knees, elbows up, (easier with lower bars), head forward, and you will find the next gear is easier. I pushed it harder in the sand, (and got good at it), because it was harder to get hurt in it. Take this tip too for riding. If you get tired, (and are in OK shape), instead of hitting the gym, ride more and figure out a way to ride so you don't get tired, don't use much energy. Then you will get smooth and fast. That is the avenue that Ron Lechien and Jean Bayle took.
You guys are hauling the mail pretty good. I took 18 years off until 2000, and tried that modern freestyle handle bar set up (rotated forward), but cornering was harder and steering was twitchy. I think we had it right in the 80's/90's.
Yes I do but I've learned some techniques over the years to significantly reduce arm pump. Check our our premium subscription for access to all our training and fitness videos. Ridewiththeknights.com
What’s all the dead juniper from? Some I can tell past fire? But other? Is the BLM going in and cutting and masticating it?? To bring back “water” or somthing? Cause dang it makes desert an eye sore with out trees.. They did something similar here in our desert
Some areas are true burned areas from a big fire we had out there about 10 years ago. A lot of the areas that you see in this video are the result of different BLM strategies to handle water supply and sage grouse habitat. The cedar tree's hold a lot of water so they have strategically gone into different areas and chained down the trees in an effort to supply more water to other areas. Many areas they have gone through and masticated acres of trees to rebuild sage grouse habitat. I'm no environmental expert but I've been riding out in this area for 20 years and two decades worth of recreational vehicle use hasn't even come close to the geographical changes that have been caused by the BLM's efforts. The place has been drastically reformed over the last 6 or 7 years. It's really sad when I compare it to what I remember as a kid.

🤘✊
So was min 3-59. :)
Awesomeness. Josh you ride fast with no mistake. Others ride fast and pass you but they go down eating rocks and sands. Great riding Knights.

This course looks like such a blast! Great riding 🤘
Awesome video! great riding . you were out biked in that sand, 4 stokes rule the sand......

Awesome. Great terrain. Quality video. Subscribed.
Nice riding.
Amazing! It took me years to get through there. Is there a Ride With the Knights Sand School?

Hello, could you please share the configuration of your cam, it´s super stabilized. Thanks!
Sick vid as always. Thx for posting! Definitely big bore country right there. I thought you were going to blow that thing up, hehe.
Curious what tire type was needed for this race
Great video man!
Stunning , did you mention what Galaxy y'all came here from ?!

Nah, 4 strokes power is better in sand and heavy dirt.....2 stroke makes up for it other places
Like that part about 51min in where he shouts, “yeah!” When he wheelie jumps a tree root immediately followed by a rocky dragons back hump…
He has a really nice bike. I would like to strokes in Yamaha, so this is like my dream bike.
How often do you have to do top ends on your Sherco?

Looks hella fun
Crazy to see that much water out there.
It’s amazing the amount of water that has been flowing down those hills. All the washes are completely changed.
This is so badass
damn those dunes look like so much fun to ride
Is there a specific reason why you running the low power map?
5:50 probably felt amazing
5:25 holy cow man cutting it close
@20:16 definitely held my breath for a second
No steering stabilizer?
Do yall deflate your tyres for sand riding?
How fast are you guys going on average? Learning to ride now in sand and it’s much tougher than I ever could have imagined!

The 450's definitely have the start advantage on those sand dunes.
Josh please I am begging you..Iron man the Baja 1000 on that Sherco 300. Please you have the skills. With some luck I know you could place top 10.
Hard time pitting since Baja pits will not supply 2t.
I think that would be awesome! I've always wanted to do the Baja 1000. If you pay the entry fee and I'll do it! hah
Feel you on this one..
Crazy how that dude passed you and you are hauling then he disappears in the distant, insane

Why dont you post the full race
The Camera battery died at about 1 hour.
The dunes part of the course looked fun and exhausting at the same time, lol. I definitely need to get up there and ride.
@@ridewiththeknights oo oky but keep the good work up love your videos
Dude,go out n get yourself a KTM 380 motor and wedge it into that YZ,and watch those 4strokes fall by the wayside. Long live the 2Stroke!!!!
You should be on a 450 out there
Man that was some soft sand at the 5:512 mark. You shaved off 20 mph in a split second.
how are you not faceplanting sand is soo sketchy
I am starting to think the 500 SEF was a poor choice for doing races like this. I just need someone to confirm my stupidity.
Do you spell Reagan why do beatbox Will Young so how is he got this good with Witten pills to be not that much time?
Well that looked humbling.
Those 2 strokes just don’t have the power to compete
Boaring rider, every one overtaking.
Awesome Video , Need a bigger two Stroke motor
Maybe we should race a CR 500 next time 🤘
@@ridewiththeknights definitely ! 😃
