- www.RivertreeSi... - Rivertree Singers, a community choral ensemble in Greenville, SC, performs "Jubilate Deo" by Peter Anglea at War Memorial Chapel on the campus of Bob Jones University. This concert was in preparation for the ensemble's 2014 ACDA Southern Division appearance.
Warren Cook, director
Crazy how a small choir can create a sound that big and that powerful.
Little_Squidward Yeah it rly amazes me. I remember last year in choir we went to contest with only a few people cuz our choir was small and most people couldn’t come and I was like wowww cuz I didn’t think that we were loud enough until I heard the recording
American women generally are much louder than English...maybe even louder than Welsh!!! ;-)
Right rep for the group!
Being in that big church helps!
@@Hannah-kd3uvI’m impressed you guys have such good voices
Just love singing along when my brother plays this on piano around the house. Solid bass part, absolutely beautiful harmony.
Being really serious, I think this is one of the best melodies ever composed. For example, the way it changes time signatures is so seamless, it has a lot of freedom, and it's really gorgeous of course.
Love how Dr. Cook directs this one. He doesn't direct for timing. The choir is right on without him. My older siblings said practices were brutal. This song really highlights his skill as a director.
love the calm minimalistic conducting :D
We have just started singing this in my church's choir - it is so beautiful!! Yay for altos!!
This is some of the best singing I've encountered online. I wish I was there to have heard it live.
I heard Jubilate Deo last night for the first time, and decided to investigate for the purpose of prayer. I clicked on this piece, and find that this group is close to home- i live in pickens county, near clemson. I love these happy little coincidences. 🌷
It took me listening to that a couple of times to figure out why his conducting is so unique. Don't misconstrue what I am about to say. He is a masterful conductor and the singers are top-flight. The song is in 10/8. Occasionally it goes into 6/8 and 4/4, but even if he directed it in half time, he would have to do that 1-2-3/1-2 patterns over and over again.
If he conducted time in the 10/8 section, he'd show 4, with groupings of 3-3-2-2 eighth notes. Think "long, long, short, short". But I wholeheartedly agree with his choice to NOT do that, and focus on style instead, with his gestures.
I’ve watched this probably once a week for the last 4 years since my choir did it
I can listen to this song all the time as well. Right there with you, Brandt.
The most beautiful and joyful choral music I know.
We presented this song on our Christmas celebration, Dec 3rd 2016. Thanks a lot and much appreciation to the composer. Really love this song. Above all, praise to The Lord. Jubilate Deo Omnis Terra 😇
Love the conductor
I love this piece of music. It's very pretty and very singable. Your choir has a beautiful sound. The blend is fantastic and your conducting is so sensitive and not over the top. Great job!!
Superb singing, style and delivery
I sang this at music camp and I've been looking for a good version. This is by far my favorite.
Ce morceau est juste magnifique, il dégage beaucoup de joie et d'enthousiasme et est parfaitement interprété. Je l'utilise comme sonnerie de téléphone : au moins, je suis sûr de ne pas me tromper quand il celui-ci sonne !😊
That sounds so wonderful 😍😍😍
Beautifully done! I love your conducting style, too, Maestro Cook! This is a master class on conducting. It also speaks volumes on the great work done in rehearsal.
Beautiful, Peter. Rich. A gem.
Great perforrmance of a lovely piece!
goosebumps!
Wonderful performance!!!
This is a very singable and catchy anthems for choir. I just ordered for my choir. Thank you for such a stirring and excellent performance. BRIAN
Such a fantastic choir 😍
Beautifult! Thanks for sharing. Tim Morgan, we miss the blessing of your singing voice at Brookside! God bless you!!
Our Last Names are the same!!! I was exploring the web trying to find out more about my last name...and I found this.
Do you pronounce it "angel" like I do?
@@PeterAnglea I tell people its how u say Angel in French lol my Grandfather used to say that our last name was Angel. How cool..
Great! So beautiful!
Beautiful sound and marvelous conducting!!🙂🙂
❤️👍Loved it. Great performance.
What a thoughtful arrangement and performance. Very beautiful!
Awesome! :)
SOLI DEO GLORIA.
Perfect👌🏾
Great job guys! Was watching and thinking that looked so much like war memorial chapel, and then saw the description. So cool! I think that is one of the coolest places to sing.
I love it!
wonderful accoustics!
Welcome RIVERTREE Singers! Blessings!
Thanks!
J'adore 💕
Very impressive group
Beautiful
Lol. Took me a minute to realize they were in the WMC. I remember having Sunday school in there back when Nu Alpha was the largest society my sophomore and junior years.
It's a beautiful chord
My favorite song💓🎶
Lovely!
life saving melody
who else feels the charisma of the conductor
Laudate Omnes Gentes. Laudate Domino! Amen! Halleluia!!
nice
Lovely, lively performance in an excellent acoustic.
Dillon wasn't impressed with the conductor, however I feel you should listen to what the conductor has produced by the preparation of the performance. Sir Adrian Boult always looked unimpressive conducting, but he said there was no need to look impressive if you have done your work properly beforehand!
Interestingly, it was the director’s complete command of the choir that I found to be one of the most fascinating aspects of the choir.
This was a masterclass in conducting. I don't know who "Dillon" is, but "Dillon" apparently is not educated enough about what superb conducting means.
👍👍👍👍👍👍 Beautiful
Nice
best choir song imo
Reminds me of Bob Chilcott.
🎉
PMEA REGIONALS ANYONE???
Toller Chor, toller Dirigent. Kein Gezappel, kein mühsames Beieinanderhalten. Super einstudiert! RESPEKT!
Hi Sofia
Ебическая сила как красиво!...
I prefer DSO's version of this song, but this one is nice too.
Not really the same song except for the title
The guy at 0:58 is showing off by not using music . . .
Phrank Waldorf he wrote it 😉
In my choir we never use music sheets during the concert 😊
@@jolantasaracinwoowwww show us your medal!!!
Bass gang
Can someone share the lyrics for this please?

Here’s a video that has the lyrics in the video description. Plus the choir in the video are quite good, their Latin pronunciation very good.

@@nathanmeyer4539 thank you so much 😊
That should have said "beautiful" ;)
Someone heard this and decided, "Meh! I dislike it."?
It’s ok. Not enough dynamics and musicality. I think it’s taken a little too fast for us to hear the beautiful harmonies in some areas of the song.
Absolutely wonderful piece. One of the most useless conductors I've seen in a while though.
The conductor does not get in the way of the music. Obviously, it was so well prepared that he was able to get out of the way. Very subtle gestures with wonderful presentation shows what a master conductor he is. I have no idea what Dillon is referring to.
His command of the music was what I found to be the most wonderful aspect of the performance. I thought he was absolutely top notch.
Nah lol the conductor did his job, and has an impressive amount of belief in his group. He knew what the maximum amount of information was he wanted to give, and his ensemble responded accordingly. Conductors who flop all over the stage truly miss the point, especially when working with chamber groups.
I really love this piece, not too keen on the performance. The energy is good, but the Latin is poor, and they sound like a high school choir. No color, just white, bright sound, like an MT choir. It's nice bough, but bland.
No
Yeah, no they don't. I take it you haven't listened to many high school choirs on here. They sound much better.
Could this community choir sound better, like a more professional choir? I'm sure. I agree the Latin isn't perfect. Still, it's music to my ears (pun intended) after the other stuff I've been hearing.
They've crossed that line where the improvements are small and harder for non-musicians to even hear the difference. That's amazing for a community choir.
Nah, just sang professionally for 25 years and taught at university for 15, put more than a few into professional careers...would have no clue mate. None at all. Thanks!
Jim Taylor I didn't say anything about your music experience. I said you must not have listened to what an average high school choir sounds like. Nothing you said contradicts this.
The average high school choir (and not their chamber choir) has slight tuning issues, vowel problems, hard to understand consonants, balance issues, etc. And their voices are underdeveloped.
They are a *community choir*. No, they don't sound like a professional choir. But they do sound much better than the typical high school choir.
At this point, you'd have to be a professional to notice the flaws. _So I already knew you had to be a professional._
While I'm not a professional, I also sometimes offer critiques on UA-cam. But I give them things that they could actually fix at their current level, and I am sure to point out what they are doing right.
It's called constructive criticism. What you gave was just an insult.
Well said Zipply Zane... I know I'm two months late :)
Please do not get me wrong, but native english speakers should not sing in Latin. It sounds pretty funny, although it is great performance.
