@@derricklim355 the line isn’t only drawn there. Putting a real dial into a fake case also makes a watch a counterfeit. Nice to have Derrick Lim from DLW Watches chiming in!
I think you are absolutely fight about market saturation . Couple of months ago while recovering from a major operation decided to buy a few parts mainly Seiko based sourced all the parts from different online outlets. Made a dozen already but stopping now . Very therapeutic though. Those damn second hands can drive you mad . I call them my bespoke watches. Most have no text on the dials so not trying to con anyone . Very informative video. 👏
Very good honest opinion. I agree the market is saturated right now in the UK. I switched from selling vintage 1960s/70s watches to modding. Very hard sell . i am selling for just over cost just to move them on. Very informative video.
This is really what I need breaking it down everything and I’m able to understand now what is Seiko Mod’s. I was planning to buy the santos seiko mod but I changed my mind .
A million thank yous. I was wondering why the submariner seiko 300 meter depth with Sapphire crystal, ceramic thing around the dial can be bought for 200 and change? Now i get it you know what. Im all about that. I aint buying as aninvestment. I could aford to spend 2 large on a real one but why? The mod works dor me. It will. E my first automatic and u can see how i like it. I been a quartz guy since the 70. And today its hard to beat a wuartz for acuraxy. The jet star from boluva i have is roo ausum the aweeping second hand shames most automatics and acuraxy. This thing hasent budged a second in several months amazing. Im anal about acuracy . Bunt thats for the schooling on mods. Now i van have a few supercool hi dollar watches without investing my money like that. Beutiful beautiful. I never have been interested in a rolax. Would not buy ine and wouldnt even buy a mod one. They just dont do anything for me and its a ooser watch.
I think these a manufactured in China and people are just reselling them. It seems that it’s a fake and they slap a seiko logo on it and call it a “seiko-mod”
Well, I found out from the Chrono Canada website that in addition to their inventory, they also take orders and build to your specifications, if you’re willing to pay a little more. So that means the company, based in Canada, is legit if they can actually deliver on your customization preferences. I might actually get the Deep Sea Dweller James Cameron edition Mod. Can’t afford the $15k Rolex and I ain’t scared to wear Seiko.
I don’t know if I should buy seiko mods. I like the rolex starbucks, black yahtmaster and nautilis one. But $750 for all 3…. With that money I can buy a real decent watch
Ya you can buy a “seiko mod” for $200 built with a fake dial in a $30 case but you get what you pay for. I built a seiko mod with high end parts with an authentic movement and extremely rare authentic dial, used a case, Chrystal, bezel, insert, hands and bracelet of higher quality than anything short of a grand seiko. Parts alone were over $600. Is that worth it for most people? Absolutely not. Do I now have a seiko worth over $600? Absolutely not. Do I have the exact case style and material, crown, sapphire Chrystal with ar coating, dial, insert, bezel and bracelet I want that I’ll never see on anyone else’s wrist and could never buy at a store with the satisfaction that I designed and built myself, yes! Most people these days go to best buy and get the newest Apple Watch so any mechanical watch you chose to buy is better than that. Get into the watch hobby however and at whatever price point you can comfortably, don’t let anyone diss your watch most people couldn’t be bothered to even own one these days
The dial is fake. Therefore, the watch is counterfeit.
