  • Hello Folks,
Join me and my mate Adam - ‎‪@babblingbrooksoutdoors‬ on an adventure across the UK from the West Coast in Bowness on Solway to Wallsend in Newcastle on the East Coast.
We follow the Nation Trail of Hadrian's Wall, the only National Trail that is completely in a World Heritage Site.
We have some high points and some very low points along a route that is more difficult than you would imagine.
    Hope you enjoy it.
I Want to say a massive Thanks to Adam for joining me on this trip.

@@NorthernOutdoorsDave it looked like there was some decent road walking that can hammer your feet you cracked it though that's the main thing and those truckers recognised a fellow hgv driver when they saw one n'all 😂😀👍

@@NorthernOutdoorsDave I had walked over a thousand miles in my boots before we walked the wall, so no problem there. But arthritis in my knee was just starting to hurt. but we made it. I enjoyed watching your video, it helped me relive our walk of a few years ago. Like you we walked West to East. I remember stopping in a bus shelter for a drink about three miles in, We sat and chatted to couple of lads who had walked the other way, one was walking in flip-flops, his feet were covered in blisters, the first time he had worn his boots was when he left Wallsend, a mistake he would never make again I am sure. When we passed sycamore gap the tree was still covered in leaves, We have a large framed photo hanging in our living room.

Having done this walk I must agree - not too much to see in the first third (you can make out the ditch and find various stone robbed from the wall and reused elsewhere); the middle third - spectacular; then the final third, again it's flatter land and with larger populations, the wall is robbed out and the ditches ploughed away. Still if you know what to look for.... At least you got to see Sycamore Gap.

Thanks for watching.. Yes if I go back to do it again I will be missing the first 15 miles and the last 15 miles and go from Carlisle to Heddon on the Wall. But fully agree with you. Luckily I did get to see the beautiful sycamore gap.

Look at the countryside - a wall is just a wall, really. What did they have to do to build it on the Solway? It was a Turf Wall actually - guess why? - but I didn't hear them say that!

Hi im dave from Sheffield I'm going to hadrians wall in few weeks hope you had a great adventure what was your best point of the walk?
I've just got the forceatt tent what do you think of it?

    • @NorthernOutdoorsDave
      @NorthernOutdoorsDave  Рік тому +1

The middle bit is the best by far.
From Bowness on Solway to after Carlisle is just hard tarmac/road walking. Then, from Heddon on the Wall till after Newcastle (Wallsend) is also a lot of hard tarmac/road walking also. The middle bit is where the wall is still visible and alot of history.
As for the tent, I've had mine about a year now and I love it for the room and it's a solid tent.
A Little heavy and bulky for long distance but this is the second long distance path I've done with it.
Good luck with your attempt Dave from Sheffield.

Two minutes in, you walk past the ruins of the Railway Viaduct that crossed the Solway and failed to even see it. Did you do no homework before this video? LOL
