Escape to Wales: 4-Day Adventure with Camping, Cooking, and Canoeing
Hi and welcome to another adventure.
It's been a while since my last video, as I'm mega busy with work and this was a much needed break from life with some good company and great laughs.
We have 4 days adventuring around the Cardigan Bay area of Wales, chilling out on the beach with a cold beer and taking hike up to Ancient Burial Sites with stunning 360 views.
Spending time around the camp fire cooking up some great food and a bit of paddling down the river.

Great video- my grandfather is from Wilbarston, county Northhamptonshire- are you anywhere close to that area? I’ve never been across the pond, but one day I’d like to see the place of his birth- I believe he was born there but grew up in or around Dumfrees, Scotland

Having done this walk I must agree - not too much to see in the first third (you can make out the ditch and find various stone robbed from the wall and reused elsewhere); the middle third - spectacular; then the final third, again it's flatter land and with larger populations, the wall is robbed out and the ditches ploughed away. Still if you know what to look for.... At least you got to see Sycamore Gap.

Thanks for watching.. Yes if I go back to do it again I will be missing the first 15 miles and the last 15 miles and go from Carlisle to Heddon on the Wall. But fully agree with you. Luckily I did get to see the beautiful sycamore gap.

Look at the countryside - a wall is just a wall, really. What did they have to do to build it on the Solway? It was a Turf Wall actually - guess why? - but I didn't hear them say that!

While you re at Filey you missed the best 800 yard walk on the East coast down to the end of Filey Brigg .Also best fish and chips at CJs , far better than any in Whitby

Hi Dave , I usually do the Cleveland Way every year , some years I fail especially if its too hot . Its a tough walk .I reckon the coast stretch is harder mainly because of the many 1 in 3 s up all the steps .You looked well done in following your big day from the camp at Slapwith where the mbikes go ( I ll use that spot myself ) to as far as Sandsend near Whitby . Thanks for a truthful account how you felt the following day .One big killer on this walk is a heavy pack which is why I now only do it ultra light carrying the least possible using a Durstan X mid 1 pro dyneema version which weighs only 500 grms.I don t carry cooking gear as its certainly not needed on the coast stretch and the two days across the moors to Osmotherly can be broken at Lordstones Cafe half a mile off the route .I prefer the coast stretch because I m very interested in the birdlife whic is just about absent across the moors because the owners have shot everything possible which interferes with the Red Grouse shoot .I find it a sad place devoid of wildlife

Ahh nice one for watching. Its been a while since I thought about my Cleveland Way hike. This was my first ever multi day hike so I was still learning about gear then. Bag must of been 17kg with food and water. That doesn't bother me tbh i can carry the weight, its just annoying so now I have my kit down to around 10kg.

Stumbled on to your video, glad I did, I really enjoyed that, shame about you not liking the dehydrated meals, I’m not keen either, we started using the boil in the bag meals which are heavier yes, but far tastier and you feel fuller with them. Also, I see you use the Forceatt 2 man, my wife and I used that tent when we hiked and wild camped the Cumbria way back in May, it’s a brilliant tent, but I found it quite heavy so we split it between us to carry. I’ve subbed to your channel too! We always support small channels just like ours. Looking forward to more form you! 😊

Greatings from Georgia, USA. I've owned this tent for a couple of years. Just searching videos to see what other guys think of it and found your channel. I couldn't be more pleased with it. Kind of heavy but the comfort is great. I pitched it in a bad spot one night a year ago and it poured rain. When i woke up the floor felt like a water bed. It was stitting in a couple of inches of water but not a drop inside. I subscribed so I can watch your big hike. Good luck!

  • @chrisbentleywalkingandrambling

Hi Dave, I randomly came across you on Instagram and thought I'd check your channel out. 3 Yorkshire Peaks in 10 hours and 2 minutes, and you weren't happy with that.😮 I think it was amazing. When you were going through the gate on that first Peak, it was that windy the puddle looked like the tide was coming in! Absolutely fantastic hike and great vlog. I did the Edale Skyline Challenge on Monday it was 21.69 miles, and it took me 14hrs 49mins 😂. My excuse is that I'm 61, and I didn't start hiking until last year. I was massively overweight and unfit. But the Edale Skyline Challenge was something I never thought I could achieve. I'm fine with 8-10 miles. That's probably about my comfort zone. After the hike, my whole body was aching, and my brain was mush, and my big toe was losing its nail. 6 days later, my feet are still killing me. I think I overdid it. I'm riddled with arthritis you see. 🙄😳😬. Anyways, less about me. A fantastic vlog, Dave, and a new Subscriber here. I hike and vlog in The Peak District as these are my closest peaks. I'm a small channel, too, so if you want to watch an Old Codger painfully hike and groan, then pop across. Irregardless. I'm here and will watch some more of your vlogs. Have a great Sunday, Dave.
