    Unlike others I have encountered who attempt the vintage aesthetic, which often appears as mere cosplay or imitation, your embodiment of this style is genuine and authentic. Your allure is not just an external facade but a true embodiment of a fresh-faced vintage loveliness that sets you apart and makes you stand out with a unique and alluring grace.

      I think it's because she actually tries to go with what the era ladies went for, while most others go for the pin up comic look and they try to pass that as the normal everyday 50's. Like most of them use false eyelashes, when only a few of the Hollywood women wore those, and not a lot of them. Not to mention, they are trying to pass the modern neck and hemlines on vintage style and pass it as authentic. Which as someone with the modesty standards of the common woman the day, it gets frustrating. The old saying "reach up and bend down, if anything shows, go change your clothes" is what I like to follow. But seriously.....anything above the knee.....how do you not show everything when you sit down?

    I remember pin curling my Aunts hair when I was young in the 50's. I used Miss Curlette Hair Setting Spray. I really love your channel, it brings back so many memories.

    Hey tessa it’s mia. The girl from the uk that dm’d you awhile back thx for being so kind to me.
    I’m loving this video. I try to live my life as vitnage as possible apart from the vintage values obviously like racism, sexism and predjudice. All these are no no’s but to me especially as my great grandmother who thank the lord is still with us.
    She had a very hard time coming the London from Guyana with her eldest daughter my aunty Jenny. She came to England to live with her husband and train as a nurse as he went there for work. He was a barber but he did get involved the police a few times. 😬😬.
    He was friends with Tom jones and Nat king cole. Who is one of my fave singers. My great grandfather did Tom jones hair. And they became friends he knew him before he got famous. And nat king cole held my grandmother whilst she got her ears pierced as a baby.
    My GG and GGD also went to a party that the Kray twins attended and met them briefly. That’s what I know so far. It’s so cool to hear old stories.
    But like I style I follow a vintage style not vintage values. It makes me even more sad about how some people were back then because I know some of my family went through it. My great grandma came over from Guyana to London in the early sixties and at first she couldn’t live with her husband so she rented a room.
    a ROOM not a house with and Irish family of six. They were all stuck in one room. And the front of places to rent and buy it used to say NO DOGS NO BLACKS NO IRISH.
    also I know a few vintage brands if your interested. Olay, Elizabeth Arden, ponds, erno lazlo, max factor,revlon, Estée Lauder, pears soap, dove soap,camay soap, Lux soap.
    Tbh I’ve tried the orange pears soap it may feel squeaky clean whilst rinsing. But after your face is dry. It’s not tight or dry at all it feels like how cera ve face wash does. I like dove. I’d use it if it weren’t due the scent and also my acne prone skin doesn’t like it. It feels great on my skin but then I get spots two days later. 😢.
    Also Laura Jane atelier is a good UA-camr to check out she posts many videos and has done loads in the past of many vintage brands I had not heard of and many good book recs and makeup tutorials and vintage history. She’s well worth checking out. (Her older videos are the ones to look for If u want the brands she mentions and stuff)
    I keep my skincare vintage. I do adjust it to my skin type I have hormonal acne prone oily skin. So I use a cleansing oil and Dead Sea mud cleansing bar like Marilyn Monroe ( not by erno lazlo though as I am broke😂)
    And vitamin c serum in the day and niacinamide serum at night
    A spot treatment whenever I need it.
    And in the day I use olay day cream or olay beauty fluid. And at night I use cetaphil hydrating night cream.
    And Nivea as a face primer and occasional moisturiser if it’s winter like Marilyn Monroe. As I can’t use Vaseline it doesn’t suit my skin. Like I said slightly modified but still vintage inspired.
    I also dress vintage and do my hair and makeup vintage like the stars though I do keep my hair curly majority of the time as it’s not good for me to not have it in it’s curly state hardly ever as it will damage my hair.
    I do my makeup as authentically as possible same with hair I do a Velcro sleep roller wet set it’s velcro on the outside but foam on the inside so u can sleep with ease. And I do my makeup like this.
    Nivea, concealer on any spots and under eyes, panstick, cream blush and cream contour if I want usually just blush though. Heavy loose powder all over and brush off after a few secs. Bright coloured eyeshadow leaf green, purple, blue, grey. And black liner. Or a brown or black cat eye. Or a Marilyn eye. Then cake mascara by kryolan that I get from eBay. Then red lipstick with gloss if I’m doing a Marilyn look and without If it’s a normal 50’s look. Or a rosy pink lipstick.
    The only vintage values I follow are being clean, being ladylike
    (to a certain extent as some of the rules then seem a little stupid now) and spending less time on my phone which I do anyway as I enjoy reading. And researching many thing. I suppose I’m like Marilyn in that way. Haha.
    I also listen to vinyls and read magazines (I have a few vintage ones,collecting more soon 😅)
    I love Amy Winehouse and my mum found two Amy Winehouse magazines from late July early august of 2011 not long after she died. One by now magazine and one by ok magazine. One is an 83 page special. Both made me cry 😂❤. I will treasure them forever.
    Sorry for the long comment dear I just wanted to help and also let you know how much you and your videos are loved and appreciated by all of us. Including me. God bless and good night/ day.

    Thank you for another wonderful video!
    I do have a question and maybe you could help me. I am knew to makeup and have only been playing/ using it occasionally in the past couple months. I just caved in and got the "victory red" lipstick (it was on a prime sale) Because I am a big 40's fan and everyone know that is what you wore to be patriotic. I also got "cherries in the snow." I am still learning how to apply it, because everything i have used before is more natural looking so if it's slightly goofed, it doesn't really show.....anyway......how on earth do you get that to STAY on your lips? It's smearing and it is transferring to absolutely everything. Even a slight touch of the finger. I have tryed blotting it multiple times and it still won't stay where it's supposed to. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Even my Mom, who is in her early 70's, doesn't know whay to do about that. And she worked at a makeup counter in the late 60's!

      Perhaps try a lipstick from a different brand that may work for you better. Although the colours may remain the same, sadly the formulas don't really resemble those of their 1950s counterparts anymore.

    • @mrstdupuy
      @mrstdupuy  Рік тому +2

      So glad you liked the video. I understand the struggle with lipsticks and using lip liner helps me with application and staying in the lines. Also applying a concealer around the lip can act as a barrier. All lipstick formulas are different and behave differently when applied. Liquid lipsticks are great for drying fast and not transferring but can be drying. I suppose it’s a matter of preference and finding what works for you.

    • @aussiejubes
      @aussiejubes Рік тому +2

      With besame I need to powder my lips first, use a lip liner or at least apply with a lip brush (besame lipsticks come with instructions on how to apply), blot, reapply and blot again.

      You can use the smaller prongs or Bobby pins to set the curls. I use the large duck bill clips just to set the waves
