In our episode, ‘Enemy Unknown’, we examined a series of alleged encounters between US Servicemen and what appeared to be extra-terrestrial craft during the Vietnam War. There are, however, an equally significant number of documented incidents, during which American soldiers reported having confronted mysterious cryptids whilst engaged in the same conflict.

There are also stories of giant spiders the size of Volkswagen Beetles in the Vietnam jungle. Similar to the ones in Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit. When someone asked J.R.R. Tolkien why he liked to write fictional/fantasy books, he replied "I don't write about fiction, I write about an ancient reality in which the knowledge has been lost over time".....(lost knowledge as in covered up knowledge). If we knew the truth, the tribe of sub human imposters over our sold out governments would no longer be able to control and manipulate us to do their bidding.

I had a Vietnam veteran as a substitute teacher at my high school before graduating, he was always willing to talk & tell us stories about Vietnam. One story was about him & his group encountered a large snake (2-3ft wide) simply the snake crossing beneath their feet as they went unnoticed in the jungle. He said they didn’t know where the head was or where it ended, only they did not want to disturb the creature.

The giant snake stories remind me of this myth.
If a snake lives long enough, and grows to a particular length, it becomes a "dragon".
Usually it just has more intelligence and cunning, closer to a human than animal. But the size of these ones is more terrifying.

The second story must've been a close encounter with a Naga and the creature are still rumoured to be spotted occasionally in the mekong River once a year. Plus, if you have seen statues of the Naga in Buddhist temples scattered throughout Indochina you'll notice that the description given by the Sgt on the creature almost match what is being depicted up to the tee. Golden crest and gleaming golden scales and a serpentine body. As for the other weird encounters encountered by soldiers during the Vietnam War, I have a feeling that many stories of such encounters will come to light in this decade as many of the veterans will break silence and share their tale knowing that this is their last chance to tell such stories before they passed on.

They don't have to exist. So a gigantic living species of python such as Burmese is entirely plausible. In the deepest jungles there are no humans, ergo no predators, there's no telling how big they may have gotten.

@@SamuelBlack84 About the existence of reptilians. At first I was 50/50 but after i heard some stories from a very old, tough hunter, i changed my mind to 80/20.
I am Thai, he is Thai. In Thailand or Southeast Asia in general don't have any idea about the reptilians (or at least, very unpopular and not widely known) unlike USA. So stories about "lizard people" from a thai, especially from person like him who didn't connected to western things before was really, really unexpected.
The story happened about 50 years ago. He, his father, who was a veteran hunter and wizard (the hunters in the old time need some magic skills for protection) and his hunter fellows was exploring a zone of a deep, mountainy jungle in northeastern part of Thailand and had to walk across the hills to go to the nearest small villages to meet a wizard to find a way to kill a strong shape shifting tiger demon that was very dangerous to his village(a type of thai ghosts. It can turn into human to lure people then changes to tiger form and eats its prey). On their way, at night, they had to rest on the big tree and one of them need to stay awake for a time and then change person. All of this was to observed and protected themselves. The third night. One of the hunter woke him up. It was his turn to watch over. About half an hour passed by, it was normal like nights before. But then everything turned dead silence. In Thailand this is a bad sign. He felt terror but still didn't woke others. He kept his eyes on the faint bonfire below to relieve the feeling but then the bonfire extinguished. The half moon was the only light source. Almost an hour later, he saw and heard something moving far away in the dark. It was big and fast so he silently woke all the hunters, in case it is that tiger. But then they know it wasn't. As what they can saw from the thick and dark distance. It was walking on two like human but the posture was off. As it came closer and clearer. The hunters was shocked after they shone the flash lights. He described it as crocodile-y but scaly. It was big and muscular, had tail, dark, rough and its eyes reflected red. Its head looked like snake/crocodile but not that long. It stopped when the light hit it. It looked at them, they looked at it. It showed its snake tongue like it was smelling. In just seconds of their terror it walked backward then turned back into the trees. The hunters didn't shoot it. Just shocked and confused. They believed it was a ghost-demon because the bad feeling they felt was overwhelming.
He never saw this type of creature again by himself. The wizard and the villagers believed it lived in a cave on that hill because they(villagers) only encountered it at that zone. That cave was also very scary and it always dead silence there. No birds, no insects, no animals.

Personally, I suspect the Oarfish Incident was just an excuse to explain unauthorized weapon discharges. Some units were very particular about firing your weapons only when allowed, so if you came back to base without every bullet you had been issued, you better have a good excuse, ideally involving a lengthy and valorous battle where your unit earned multiple decorations. The one fellow I knew who had to write down those excuses for his unit was a very bored and uninspired clerk by the end of his tour. Upside, he never had to request Graves Registration so he was happier than many.

Personally, I suspect the incident never happened at all.
If it did happen, I suspect details, like the size of the animal, are embellished. If that's the case, the most likely candidates are the bull shark and the Mekong giant catfish. Both would be interested in anything splashing.

    • @genericpersonx333
      @genericpersonx333 3 роки тому +4

@@Dimetropteryx For sure, I suspect embellishment was involved if it did happen at all. Indeed, the soldiers themselves need not have embellished at all but rather others retelling the tale did it, making a fun story about couple of guys scared out of the water by a catfish into a mildly-frightening tale of a 30-foot leviathan.
Similar thing happened to a swamp-dweller I knew. He was fishing, had a baby alligator fall in his boat. He bashed its brains in and used it for bait. He joked to his kids at home that he had defeated a "mighty monster." Well, one of those kids told someone else about the "mighty monster" without qualifying that it was a three-footer that he could beat to death with his bare hands. The story grew from there and soon the very confused man was inundated with concerned townsfolk thanking God that the massive 13-foot male gator that knocked his boat over hadn't killed him.

We're still discovering new animal species in these deep inhospitable jungles, so clearly there's still a lot we don't know about. Soldiers will move through areas not usually traveled by people, and so this is a deeply intriguing set of stories.

I'm fascinated by cryptids. My stepfather served as an army engineer in Vietnam. While enjoying cigars with friends I asked him if he ever saw anything unusual while serving. Without missing a beat he responded, "what? Rock apes?" All of us there were momentarily speechless. He then went on to describe different encounters he had with them. It was fascinating.

I was told a story by a guy that was stationed in South America that he was on a patrol in the jungle with his squad and came into a small clearing where they came up on a six foot tall bird standing on the path. They slowly backed up and retreated the way they came. He said just looking at this thing and specifically it's beak, you could tell it was likely carnivorous and appeared dangerous.
