Hi Dave. So much of what you say resounded with me. My family is ADHD and we're inventors but not marketers. Every day my brain examines products and processes around me, wondering "why isn't this better" and then a bit of my brain hives off and insists on spending time trying to make it better. I have attempted to bring things to market in the past but have always fallen prey to the "somebody will copy it and steal it from you". I have one right now that under NDA last year I flew to Europe and presented it to the SVP of one of the worlds largest jewelry companies. They are mired in old lady designs and didn't understand the market opportunity so after 6 months they declined interest. Oh well, I enjoyed a trip to a lovely small country where I actually speak the language. I appreciate your openness. Just this past week I was chatting with one of my best friends in LA and we discussed my popping down to visit. If you're interested I'd like to meet. We'll discuss that idea when we chat. Is 01 August ok? 11am California time? thank you Dave for sharing your life experience. All the best and talk to you soon.
I hope thousands of people find this video. It is so inspiring to hear you speak of how learning & putting your skills to work- failing but pressing on and ultimately succeeding, brings you such satisfsction. There IS so much more in life than the short-lived "high" of consumerism. You mentioned your "opposable thumbs" several times and, well, yes! I'm certainly not opposed to those 😂 You've said a lot here- Im going to watch it, again. And thank you for being so willing to help others.
I have aphantasia, caused by a TBI, and it’s been really hard visualizing things. I was like you when I was younger, and then on my way to be an artist… I digress. I appreciate you putting these videos together. For someone like me, who’s minds eye isn’t what it once was, it’s been a massive help. So, thank you.
Thank you for your comment, accolades, and can be very empathetic because I'm not looking forward to the day I lose my ability to imagine what is and what could be in my minds eye. So, you're welcome! David Riddle
Thanks for the video! Your drive and your passion is so inspirational! Your take on life to just do things and don’t be afraid to fail really resonates for me, I have ADD and often have a hard time starting and/or finishing things, even if I enjoy doing it.
Simply AWSOME ... you are definitely unique and found your clip totally engrossing ... I can't believe the diversity of gadgets you have made ... I better get back to work ... 😂😂😂
Hi Dave, i stumbled on your video watching about CA glue. What you say is 100%. I remember reading a book a number of years ago that said. Opportunities pass us buy all the time its just reaching out and grabbing them. You've certainly shown that that is the case. Put your mind and passion to workand we can all achieve more.
Hey Dave! Next time put a mic on John as well. I miss having lunch with you. Cheers from Carson City! And are you EVER going to run out of grey shirts??? 😉
Thank you for your comment and suggestion, Jon forgot to select a channel on the camera so his voice wasn't heard, but this video was so compelling, we decided to release it anyway. I also miss having lunch with you, and no, I'll never run out of grey shirts as I have at least ten sets of them, I don't want to spend a millisecond deciding what to wear every day, this is my uniform! David Riddle
Very much an Edison-style inventor. Trial and error coupled with repetition to get to the working concept, rather than formal engineering education coupled with complex CAD drawings and concept models.
Thank you for your comment, in elementary school, I read with great interest several biographies about Edison, and later in life biographies of Tesla. David Riddle
