Every day, young people who have experienced heart-wrenching trauma and adversity comes to KVC Niles, a children's mental health residential treatment center in the heart of Kansas City. These youth have often experienced abuse or neglect, have parents/guardians with mental health or substance use treatment needs, have witnessed domestic violence or community violence, and live with constant financial uncertainty and toxic stress. Our caring team of professionals help youth learn how see their own inherent worth, identify their feelings and regulate their emotions so they can step forward into a bright new future. This song was written by a 17-year-old youth we recently served in partnership with Hope, our music therapist at KVC Niles. Copyright for the song belongs to the youth who created it, and we are sharing it with his permission.
