I noticed sometimes that a few Indonesian fans will booed other players that goes against their player on every single shot that the opponent played. I’m a badminton fan from Japan, and every time I watch his matches against Japanese pairs, they get along with quite well and nothing inappropriate things happen. So, still can’t get why he can be easily annoyed by other players. As a fan, it’s always fun to watch him(and also some other Indonesian players!) play fantastically, but at the same time I feel pretty sorry that no one around him teach and guide him….he could be better player and person.
Cos they know Japanese pairs, especially Yuta Watanabe/ Hiroyuki Endo would kick their asses. Even clowns will behave when they meet their masters.
They always lose to Endo/Watanabe, of course they wont be arrogant at that time.

You can see clearly he's been taught a lesson by umpire calling a fault for touching shuttle when it was clearly not so. Lately, not so much antics from him but from time to time you still see it. Perhaps he has learn his lessons?
And yet the umpire can give a yellow card or a red card for the lack of sportmanship instead of calling the fault. 2 wrong doesn't makes a right.

Kevin is a breath of fresh air. With all these serious faced players, it's nice having someone goofing around every once in a while. Also, sports is not an entirely physical game. Part of it is mental fortitude. Tilting your opponent will definitely give you an advantage. Taunts should not be considered as unsportsmanlike, rather a strategic tool.

Badminton supposed to be a gentlemen's game.
There are always athletes like him at any kind of sports. And some of them are one of the best, unfortunately. Yes you can dislike him or what, it is your right. But we must admit that, they make sports more interesting. I dont like kevin's attitude eventhough i am an indonesian, and some of indonesians maybe agree with me that setiawan has a better attitude. But i can not deny that sometimes it is fun to see some controversy like this. Please dont get me wrong, i am not defending him. Just giving my point of view. And pardon me for my bad english.
For me, ahmad/setiawan, endo/watanabe are better players than the minions minus the arrogance of kevin. It maybe fun to some, but it taints the whole idea of sportsmanship in a game. A game can still be fun without this kind of unconventional behaviour.
@@srgmag1971 if there was 60 % of players doing this , i would agree . but it's only a really small portion of players . So i do think it's important specially in badminton when we lack of some personnality , or athlete with character. Axelsen used to be like that on court too .
and its way more worse in tennis. Benoit paire in france is mostly known to break racquet or shout at umpire or even at public.
