Hey Dr. Tooley! I would really appreciate if you could make a video on facing failures and moving forward. I started volunteering a in lab and just got the opportunity to work on tissue culture. It's definitely one of the lab techniques that I have to get down, especially when there are multiple persons who use the sterile fume hood. I recently just contaminated my samples and although it's not at all a big deal, but I have never felt so disappointed in myself before. It would be nice if you could share your tips in how you move forward. Thank you! Hope you enjoyed your theater show!

Hi Dr. Tooley. I love your videos and would love if you could do an interview with a oral and maxillofacial surgeon that’s what I’m looking into specializing in after dental school. I myself had bilateral TMJ total joint replacements this year and know how bad tmj can be. I love the amount of things you are able to do like your own anesthesia and even cosmetic surgeries of the face and the intricate surgeries. Hope you have a wonderful Sunday afternoon! ❤️

Thank you so much for the great video. I just had a medical school interview last month, and I feel that I did not perform the best that I could have. Your interview video really helped me, and I have two more interviews coming up in the next week so I hope I can do better. One of the things I am concerned about is how I answered the "tell me about yourself" question. I did not really say anything interesting but just gave the short version and talked about were I grew up and where I went to school. I should have talked about my hobbies. Another thing is I asked a few questions but before we ended she asked If I had anymore questions, and I said no. I really hope I did ok. I feel the other two interviews I had with other faculty went decently well, so I hope these blunders I keep thinking about won't stop my admission. What do you think? Thank you so much!

Hi andrea, can you make a video on how to study for subjects where you need to do a lot of practice problems like orgo and physics? i know you make study sheets but do you wait till the week before the exam to do practice problems or do you do them as the lectures progress

In one of her study videos -- basically, she finds out what her weaknesses and gaps in knowledge (eg. a physics concept if uni), then creates a comprehensive plan on how she will dominate and master that content - eg. how many questions, review, practice test, etc. To strengthen any weaknesses.

I do need some motivation now. I am an IMG, passed all three steps on first attempt. 240+ on both of the two steps. Applying general surgery and preliminary surgery this year, but no interview yet. i am worried if all my efforts, time and money spent on usmle are in vain.

Hi dr. Tooley! I have super dry eyes (my optometrist says I have the tear ducts of a 60 year old and I'm only 20!) and wearing contacts causes a lot of irritation after several hours. But glasses seem to bother me as well. What would you reccommend to someone who can't see to get the best of either worlds? :)
deniz bozdag I have the same condition! I get infections after wearing them despite maintaining very good hygiene and doing everything she said :(
I can't give medical advice since you are not my patient, but you could ask about punctual plugs and you could ask about PRK. LASIK will make your dry eyes even worse. Sorry you are going through this! You could also try taking fish oil to help with the natural oil production of the oil glands near your eyes. Hope you feel better!!

Have u ever noticed same sex couples discrimination at the work place? I’m a lesbian and I’m nervous some hospitals I want to work at will have a problem with this :/
I have not seen discrimination, but since I am not immediately connected to this situation, I can't speak for others. I do know multiple residents who are in same sex relationships or marriages, who are incredible physicians and are very respected.

There are lots of lgbt people in medicine, more and more I think, who are becoming more comfortable talking about it. I think the more brilliant and kind physicians we can get, the better!!! You are awesome, and people should respect you for who you are! 😘
