Amanda Rockett-Fadden Hi Amanda! So glad you like the tutorial, and thanks for watching! Have fun making these cupcakes. Definitely let us know how they turn out! =)
I love this video! You can tell that Anne-Marie really had fun/enjoyed making this video! Are there plans for making videos on how to make lip balm or hot-process soap?
At first i thought she was making actual eating cupcakes, but the i heard her say sls and put on a chemical mask, and then i was like, whoa, mom would love this!
so the " bath fizzy cup cakes " and " pump up your bath time" and " bath bomb cupcakes" in clear big letter wasn't a big enough give away ? lol .. not to mention the title... and ya know ... citric acid is just yum
Hi Violet Sparkles! Meringue powder helps make the frosting firm! Without it, the frosting can be sticky or dented easily. We definitely recommend using it. =) Also, we added warm distilled water to make the frosting wet. Sorry for any confusion!
LOVE LOVE LOVE bathbombs! Got to make my first batch a few weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed the process. Great website, great UA-cam channel, great teaching! Thank you Anne-Marie! =)
Absolutely fantastic - I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR A PROPPER FROSTING TOPPING FOR BATH FIZZIES - I've looked and looked and looked. Thank you so much for uploading this one is PERFECT.
Hi Jordyn Gamble! We use a mask in this recipe because the powder can tickle the back of your throat. However, it is totally skin safe! Also, once it's mixed into your recipe, no mask is needed. =) You can definitely make a different recipe if you choose though! That's what's so awesome about making your own bath and beauty products. =)
I don't feel that you are speaking to us like children in your videos. I'm very impressed and it seems like everyone can benefit from them and they are very easy to follow. In addition, you are giving everyone an opportunity to start their own business. I personally think you are amazing. Thanks for all your beautiful clear and easy to follow videos
Loopy I thought I made them with SLS (Im a new soaper) but I actually used SLSA. I didn't figure it out until my mix was super chunky. I added more water and it became smoother and thinner and came about beautiful! Im actually happy about the mistake because SLSA seems safer according to what I read. Hopefully, Anne- Marie will think its fine for this fizz. Thank you Anne-Marie its another great one!
Excellent reply! Good to see others not bothered by catty negative attitudes and responding in return with kindness!... And because of that I subbed! And great channel, BTW! :)
I tried a batch last night. After icing the cupcake bath bombs I stick them in the freezer for a few minutes to help the icing set. After sitting for a day they are pretty hard. I'm going to let them sit for about 3 days before I try to package them. I had alot of fun making mini ones.
Thank you soap queen. I am an advid shopper in at brambleberry I love the products. I had just gotten a little confused with the description of the DPG on your website. Dear Anne-Marie, I live in NZ and I have met with blank looks and just plain "huh?" when asking for meringue powder. Not even baking suppliers and wholesalers have it. There is no demand due to the availability of good cheap free range eggs! So, for your six bath bombs how many egg whites OR what does it say on the side of your tin? Each scoop = ?ounces =?egg whites. I found a recipe for bath biscuits which I am going to try with eggs too. Please don't be too worried about the eggs - I have seven happy hens and the girls are busy AND have two new chickiebabes joining them soon. Also, I adore your videos. Informative, clear, precise and so easy to follow. Often, I can hear your voice as I get out the Caustic Soda, " safety first", as I do your checklist. All I want/need/want are a pink pair of the Soap Safety Specs!! Glam to the Max... Is there a form of bar that you can use in the shower, like a moisture/soap bar? With a good scent and/or exfoliation?? Like a soapy crumbly bath bomb type thingy? Maybe I need to invent what I am explaining so badly.Thank you again for all the excellent hard work you and your team do, it really is appreciated.
+Amanda Pittar Hi Amanda! In addition to egg whites, meringue powder also has other ingredients like salt and xantham gum. Because of that, I don't think straight egg whites would work in this recipe. They may also make the frosting a bit wet, and cause them to go bad in just a couple weeks. Hello Ann Marie, another great video. I had a question about the frosting. If the icing hardens before you finish how do you soften the icng to make it pipeable, also since the icing contains powder sugar will the icing eventually mold or rott? Thank you!!!
Ive finally made my cupcake bath bombs Yay! They smell and look Fab, just have a problem you may be able to help me with. My frosting seems to dry sooo quickly (even as iam piping it) and when i try to add my sprinkles they wont stick . Thank you for all your advise youve been a great help. :))
Instead of using SLS can you use SLSA (Sodium lauryl sulfoacetate) instead and make them Bubble Bath Bomb cupcakes or would this change the texture of the frosting? Excellent Video!
My sister and me can't wait to start making soaps :D Would you suggest I begin using a kit? Also, your links in the drop-bar have included the commas so they're not working xx
hi there from the uk. love your tutorials :) is powdered sugar what we call icing sugar? and does the frosting part dissolve ok in water and fizz. many thanks x
Is the SLS absolutely necessary? Can we omit it ? It kind of defeats the purpose of having lovely natural bath bomb cupcake. Also as we use sugar, in the bathtub do we become sticky with the meringue?
Hello! You can definitely leave out the SLS. I added it in this recipe because it creates great big bubbles, but it is an optional ingredient. I'll include some fizzy recipes that don't use SLS below. You can also substitute with SLSA, which is a natural product. Also, I have used these in the tub and didn't notice any stickiness. You may want to test one to see if you feel any though. =) Mini Heart Bath Bombs: www.soapqueen.com/bath-and-body-tutorials/bath-fizzies/show-love/ Sparkle Power Bath Bomb Tutorial: www.soapqueen.com/bath-and-body-tutorials/bath-fizzies/sparkle-power-bath-bomb-tutorial/ SLSA: www.brambleberry.com/Sodium-Lauryl-Sulfoacetate-SLSA-P5244.aspx
Hi Anne Marie! Thanks for the great video. Do you think this frosting recipe would work okay with an M&P cupcake base instead of a bath fizzy base? I LOVE the piped icing look, and it seems as though M&P can not be whipped to the consistency needed for piping, so I thought this recipe might work. Does the frosting in this recipe dissolve like a bath fizzy? Is there anything I can add to it, or leave out, in order to make it behave more like soap?
You said I could use cocoa butter instead of SLS. I am a big believer of using sulfate free body care. How much cocoa butter would I use to substitute? Also would I melt it first or how would I add it in? Thanks
I don't think just substituting Cocoa Butter for SLS will work well in this recipe - since the SLS is a powder and when melted the cocoa butter will be a liquid (of course, I haven't tried it - if you do and it works I'd love to know!). I have an SLS free recipe that was shared with me form a guest host in this video How to Frost the Perfect Bath Fizzy . So that might be a better alternative for you! Or if you want to make a bath melt style topping maybe a whipped body butter would be the perfect topping. How to Make Whipped Body Butter
This is great! thank you =) I have a question. I made some yesterday and frosted them. I used the same recipe except I didn't use SLS or the Jojoba oil. MY frosting was thick but when i frosted the cupcakes, the frosting didn't stay the same lol I mean it was coming down and not staying nice as i applied them... why is that?

Using water in your bath fizzy recipe can cause them to fizz prematurely, that's why oil is recommended. =)

Hello thanks so much for your videos, im a huge fan! I have a question.. do you add SLS to the frosting to make it bubble?
hey i have a really good question. does the icing get mold in it? i didn't see a preservative used. thanks so much great tutorial!!
you can replace the glitter with colored sugar :P or what i did is I just toke lemon zest and sprinkled it on and it came out great too ^-^
Thanks for that good price range

TheRealBeautyQueen 701 You're welcome! =)
These look amazing! What might be a vegan alternative to the meringue powder?
Love this I like 2 start to make my own bath soap line! How much u think one of these will go 4?
Thank you so much! Now the last question, is 8 ounces meringue powder enough, if I´m planning on replacing the S.L.S. with more meringue powder?
This is great! thank you =) I have a question. I made some yesterday and frosted them. I used the same recipe except I didn't use SLS or the Jojoba oil. MY frosting was thick but when i frosted the cupcakes, the frosting didn't stay the same lol I mean it was coming down and not staying nice as i applied them... why is that?
For "sprinkles", I mix 1/2 cup epsom salt with food coloring (won't stain skin, don't worry) until it's all colored and sprinkle it on the cupcakes.
