Its played in b harmonic, melodic and natural minor with a flamenco guitar and maraccas. Matthew Bellamy has clearly stated his Spanish influence which Mexican music shares a lot in common with. It sounds Mexican because it and a lot of the album it's from (look at the intro to dark shines and a bit of screenager too) is built on the style. So you're the real idiot here.

I think the original plan was for WOTP's album slot to be an acoustic one, but obviously plans changed. Would be great for a full acoustic in the next one, but maybe not much wider appeal other than diehard fans

Muse in general has Radiohead vibes they fuck with keys in a weird way like them and his vocals were definitely at least a little inspired by Radiohead

Muse took over the more expressive and emotional side of Jeff, if you compare the live falsetto vocal improvisations of Jeff and Matthew, you can see great similarities.
