I'm sure I've commented before, but i just have to comment again... I discovered LP a couple of months ago - never having heard of her before. And it is THIS live video version of this song I heard. I was pulled in and found myself spellbound. LP's voice is extraordinary! I had to listen to this song several times then, and i find myself doing again tonight. The music, and her voice have such a haunting quality with deep longing. I was even enchsnted bybthe other things LP added to the song, like the whistle, but it is when she breaks into the high warble (not sure thats the right word) at about 3:40 I found myself truly transfixed. There's just a genuine talent and skill in LP that runs through her soul. I do mot believe her voice is being manipulated by sound equipment in this performance. I believe this is her genuine voice here, and I would never want to change a single thing. I did go on to listen to other songs, and I just feel drawn in with every one of them. I like Golden too, but this one is truly my favorite.

So about 25 years ago I used to listen to this amazing song called Cinderella, by the band Cracker (off the album Gentleman's Blues). Loved it, as I love most things Cracker has done. But the coolest part was the singer's voice, and the performance. So haunting and powerful, just mesmerising. Of course the internet wasn't much help back then, and Spotify didn't exist... so trying to find out the identity of this guest singer was pretty difficult. So I just gave up, and just listened to the song regardless. Fast forward 20+ years; and I heard it again... and it took about 1 minute of searching to end up here, after finding out that the singer was LP. Now I'm COMPLETELY blown away. So great to make this connection now, 7 years after this blew up - and I missed it entirely at the time. Sometimes this internet thing is pretty cool. I'm sure I've commented before, but i just have to comment again...
I discovered LP a couple of months ago - never having heard of her before. And it is THIS live video version of this song I heard. I was pulled in and found myself spellbound. LP's voice is extraordinary! I had to listen to this song several times then, and i find myself doing again tonight. The music, and her voice have such a haunting quality with deep longing. I was even enchsnted bybthe other things LP added to the song, like the whistle, but it is when she breaks into the high warble (not sure thats the right word) at about 3:40 I found myself truly transfixed.
There's just a genuine talent and skill in LP that runs through her soul. I do mot believe her voice is being manipulated by sound equipment in this performance. I believe this is her genuine voice here, and I would never want to change a single thing.
I did go on to listen to other songs, and I just feel drawn in with every one of them. I like Golden too, but this one is truly my favorite.

So about 25 years ago I used to listen to this amazing song called Cinderella, by the band Cracker (off the album Gentleman's Blues). Loved it, as I love most things Cracker has done. But the coolest part was the singer's voice, and the performance. So haunting and powerful, just mesmerising. Of course the internet wasn't much help back then, and Spotify didn't exist... so trying to find out the identity of this guest singer was pretty difficult. So I just gave up, and just listened to the song regardless. Fast forward 20+ years; and I heard it again... and it took about 1 minute of searching to end up here, after finding out that the singer was LP. Now I'm COMPLETELY blown away. So great to make this connection now, 7 years after this blew up - and I missed it entirely at the time. Sometimes this internet thing is pretty cool.
