Amazing stuff. Can only imagine how fun it is to go through the collection.
THANKS FOR SHARING. I am go glad that I get to see the insight into one of the legions of rock and roll/Jazz.
Your enthusiasm is catching.
Still cant believe you chilled with george benson.amazing
Those Weldons are a great find. Looking forward to seeing more of this collection.
Weldon Irvine lived in Cambria Heights Queens in the early 70's. I used to dig at the nearby Valley Stream flea market in the early 90's and once found a beautiful copy of that Nodlew Liberated Brother album for $1.
Getting the collection. Makes me jealous. Hope the ones you sell go to good homes.
Thanks 4 the peak at this cool collection
Killer collection, Mike! That Kenny Dorham-Whistle Stop Deep Groove pressing is extremely rare as it fell around the time that Deep Groove was being removed from the pressings!
I shared a steam bath with George Benson at Harrah's Tahoe, he sang for us.
I bet that was a breezin’ experience
just wow, and I do love his voice just as much as his guitar
@@porkbelly0713 He wasn't singing complete songs, just warming up for his performance, still we were in awe.
@@kevinkliegl9315 I can imagine, warming up is better than nothing. I do love his voice
One Flight up is one of my favorite jazz albums. I'd love to hear it on Mike's system!
Heaven on earth is still available!!!what a Killer collection...great job
Nice Mike! I'll be buying, I'm just getting into jazz! These titles are going to be perfect for my collection!
If you’re just now getting into Jazz I would focus on audiophile reissues like Blue Note Tone Poets and Classic Series. These that he puts up on eBay are going to be expensive. OG and older pressings are going to be sought after more by serious jazz collectors and they will bid the price up. And, more often than not, the sound is better on the newer audiophile reissue series’.
@@thevinyltruffle completely agree with everything you said. That’s where I’m at right now. These reissues sound awesome, I honestly don’t need to shell out that much money for an original
If bidding, deep pockets and weak knees are two tools of the trade!
@@DorianPaige00 That can be an costly combination-"weak knees and deep pockets". So true...😳
have all the Weldon Irvine records , bought them years ago . amazing keyboardist and composer . NODLEW is Weldon backwards
wow...thats some achievment.!!
@@ianpass2562 thanks , yeh i have about 19,000 records and 2000 of them are jazz funk
Reppin Kenny Dorham on his birthday. Respect.
What a Epic collection!!!
I really want to see those 12’s
"Just scratching the iceberg...."
I LOVE this video, and the pedigree of where it came from.
He has two listed on ebay that I want, but there are so many bids on all of them. He has two of Wayne Shorters albums and a Kenny Burrell I would love to own
YEAH BABY....HAM HOCKS!! AWESOME....THANKS MIKE....WENT AND BOUGHT ME ONE.....
wow!! great video. amazing!!!
An original Weldon Irvine?!?!? Holy smokes!
Mosaic put out a great box of Strata East material (Clifford Jordan's Dolphy Series) a few years ago.
Well, this is going to be amazing.
You can send me the Whistle Stop. Thanks.
Wow, just like my collection! Ok, maybe not. What an awesome start

Yes. And $.
Great stuff, love your channel. BUT please don't perpetuate the myth that you can look at a record and tell if it's been played. Many sellers get away with this nonsense assessment. NM or even M: yes --- but 'unplayed' is too far. I have heard my fair share of "unplayed" records with audible groove damage. Looking forward to more of Sir George's collection. Thanks !!
youre doing the lords work with comment. i was going through to the comments to see if anyone said this exact thing i hate lol
I fully agree with all you wrote.
what platform did you use to create your store
How did the stuff that had water damage not destroy the rest of the collection?
By having other records between them?
I am super jelly, I believe the kids might have used to say by now.
I always thought that splotching was due to when crummy recycled vinyl gets aged. I always see it on Capitol Beatles records
George Benson is legendary.... bottom line!
Ok,OK,. I ,too, love your enthusiasm. BUT... you obviously love "the music" and-like most of us-continue to learn more about it. One thing you should know is that the Art Blakey lp is called "Buhaina's Delight" (pronounced Boo-HEY-na),the last "na" as in "Sha-na-na". According to the lp liner notes by Leonard Feather,Buhaina "is Abdullah Ibn Buhaina, alias Art Blakey. One of the first jazzmen...attracted to the tenets of Islam,he does not use the name professionally." So,NOT "Buddah",but Muhammad! 😀
Also, recommended reading to flesh out the music's history in interesting ways :"Hard Bop" David Rosenthal(informative and swingin')
"Notes And Tones" Drummer Art Taylor's collection of first person interviews with fellow musicians. What it was REALLY like...(essential reading)
Thanks again,and keep swingin'...
Some of these guys just crack me up.
I checked out the Dorham listing on eBay. Congrats! Although it’s comically tragic how you manage to incorrectly use the possessive “s” every single time. So also congrats?
@8:45 - 'splotching from records stored in paper sleeves' - interesting how you're saying that as you're pulling the vinyl out of a plastic sleeve with a plastic type sleeve outside of the record jacket as well - and interesting how you're the first person to ever state paper sleeves will cause a chemical reaction with vinyl. It's true some rigid forms of paper can cause micro scratches scuffs ect - not a chemical reaction though. Do you have any sources to back up such a claim? BTW some call it 'ghosting' or 'hazing' of the vinyl
Google "is paper acidic" Quote "Standard paper made from wood pulp is indeed usually acidic, and becomes increasingly so the older it gets". Thats why Acid Free paper exists. Since I'm the first person to point this out to you. Your welcome.
Why don't you put the records in the sleeve?
Its stylish, and also to keep the "cardboard " cover clean from open it, and manipulate it. 👍
@@guillaumecarteret1642 most ridiculous answer I've ever heard
@@fensterirl the covers don’t split if you keep the record outside.
@@xtimemachinex protecting the cover is more important than protecting the record?
@@fensterirl ummmm you realize he has those records in mofa type sleeves, right ?
Seldomly
Not what you are keeping. What are you selling already jealous. Everyone watching knows you have first pick man.
I have decided to unsubscribe because I would never put my record attached to the back side rather than actually in the cardboard sleeve. Lame. That trend I have seen and find it ridiculous. It's woosie and no real collector does this....this channel is now a waste of my time. I respect you, but that version of vinyl religion is not my bag!
i totally agree with you....but a bit far unsubscribing...its his way..
@@ianpass2562 I guess you two like your ring wear,, yes ?
@@gringoloco4 LOL..No...i have plastic sleeves to protect, and dont store records too tight.!
