    Using Edifier 1700BT, they're similar (copy) to R1850DB, so after using them about a year I can say the speakers is pretty good, for their size 4" low timbre speaker sounds wide, deep and 67W makes them enough loud, bass and low-mids sounds impressive with considering compact speaker sizes. Minuses - twitter has too open sound for me, but it sounds clear with details, so its not bad, but no mush acoustic. The biggest minus is mids (350-2KHz), they are like recessed by strong bass, so there helps equalizer - lower bass at 60-150Hz, higher mids at 250-2KHz. Using them with asus xonar essense st with custom opamp, so the system bunch is not bad at all)

    Amazing video thanks! JBL sounds fuller and less harsh, also more gentle in the low end. Try uploading in 1080 maybe it'll increase the audio encoding quality as well!

      Yeah because it has bigger drivers i think and the body too. I will choose the edifier because it has more punch or oomph in the bass and has more sound quality. The jbl sounds cheap though.

    The guitars on the JBL sound messy. The R1850DB have a more wider soundstage.

    Thanks for the review!! Good comparison. I don't at all doubt that the JBLs here tested (and likely the 305 mkII as well) sound noticeably better. Unfortunately for me, I have already purchased the Edifier R1850DB set and have enjoyed it for the better part of a year now. As stated by our reviewer, the ONE place that the Edifiers win is their versatility (and price, but pretend for a moment we are disregarding that). Bluetooth connectivity with a music streaming service is almost a must for me. I use Spotify and Spotify now offers an in-app EQ! (5 bands + Bass boost/trim + surround sound) so using the EQ you can make a good speaker sound a little better, and specially tuned to your own environment. Besides Bluetooth, Edifiers have optical input which I use to connect to my TV. ALSO they have a sub output which I recently connected to a powered sub. I added a 12" and has lowpass filter adjustable from 40-140Hz. Like the Edifiers, bargain- minded (poor man that I am), bought a Dayton sub- $138 + tax, free shipping! Back to the Edifiers- all the features and versatility (and I didn't even mention the Aux, PC, or Coax inputs that I don't use). So, if you're like me, don't fret. Make the best of the situation... it's NOT a bad set-up! If you want active studio-quality monitors and don't need the inputs+sub output, get the JBLs!

      "Unfortunately for me" - so, not unfortunately at all if you like them. Edifier has slightly "disco smile V -shaped" sounding, which actually is very popular for an "average listener", but otherwise it's good with its bi-amp system and with so many useful features.

    I just got a pair of R1850DB to use as desktop speakers for my computer... I like them a lot, very impressive "little" speakers. The JBL are probably better, but the form factor would be a problem for me. I can appreciate the smaller Edifiers... but can't argue about the sound, the JBLs sound better.

    Hi there! Today we compare my long time favourite budget studio monitor, JBL LSR305, with newcomer from Edifier, and replacement for the beloved R1700BT, Edifier R1850DB. With current situation where JBL will be replaced with new model soon, the prices are closer than ever so lets check how they compare.
    Starting with build quality and features, Edifier is much better build and looks more premium than utilitarian and sparse in features JBL. Edifier has Bluetooth connectivity, remote control, digital inputs, and subwoofer output and JBL lacks all of these so You do get the picture.
    Soundwise JBL restores effectively and shows much more mature and grown up sound quality. Edifier has treble that is bosted too much and harsh in comparison to balanced and smooth treble from JBL. Midrange is another are where JBL shows better balance and detail, Edifier has recessed lower mids and too much boost on the upper mids. Bass quality from Edifier is suprisingly good but again lacks a bit behind more dynamic and extended JBL. The upper bass of R1850DB is significantly boosted which sounds impressive at first but on the longer run will get tiring to experienced ear.
    Overall JBL is still my favourtie budget speaker for music listening at this price point, but if You buying them You do have to consider the problems it brings to the table (namely volume control). Edifier is a viable alternative for anyone looking for compact desktop speaker that is easy to use, looks good and has good sound quality, and all of that at very good price!
    What do You think? Which one would You choose? Let me know in the comments below! Cheers!

      The detail of the JBL not having output to subwoofer was what made me give up on his purchase in the past. And the new model continues without this output.. if the Harman was already "commercial", imagine now with the Sansung. But the Edifier has the output for subwoofer but does not have the HPF, being dependent on subwoofwers that have this filter, which not all have. My choice per hour is JBL.

    • @robinsonpeixoto8521
      @robinsonpeixoto8521 6 років тому +2

      Because my four subwoofers (two Focal CMS and two Yamaha DXS18) do not have HPF. I would not trade them just to be able to buy monitors without output to sub.

    I got my ex mother in law some Bluetooth tower speakers for her birthday one year, the cheap ones you see in dollar stores etc and for $50 they sound pretty good, she loves it, so much so she bought another one for her bedroom... So I'm sure these things will sound even better least I hope so as I got the R1850DB's for $200 not expecting them so sound like I'm at a concert but I do expect them to sound good for $200... Wish I found out about these sooner I would've got the S3000's, but I didn't enough on toys which is why I ordered a set.. Plan to use them with my iPad pro, laptop 💻, Switch OLED, phone 📱, and my TV for watching movies, I got a high quality Smart TV 70" so it already has great sound so I'm going these will sound better.. And I do plan to get the subwoofer and speaker stands, when I get my own Apartment I wanna have a nice TV, Computer system set up so will probably end up with a second pair to exclusively use with my iPad/laptop....

    Am I the only one that likes the sound of Edifier better? It sounds more clean to me, more elegant. The separations between high, middle and low are more spread and it creates better experience for my ears, as I can hear all of them at the same time but I feel them separately. On 305 highs, mids and lows are more grouped together, like they are more close to each other and coming from narrow focused source, not spread wider like on 1850. The vocals are slightly better on 305, but the rest my ears have to give it to Edifier. I am listening to this on my sennheiser headphones.

      I have to agree with @unusual that if JBL is in Your reach financially than You should go for it. If not than I would go for iLoud as long as You are not planning to blast them at full volume all the time (keep them at low to medium volume for the best results)

    • @Tealc2323
      @Tealc2323 6 років тому +4

      Muhammad Ali Shahid Edifier should not be your nr1 choice, they have too many dips and peaks. They are made for the average consumer masking poor recordings and have colored sound making you believe that what you hear is high quality. This is not what you want for mixing/mastering.
      You are going to spend your time at low to moderate volume but you need a pair of speakers to go loud enough (80db) without distortion for short periods to check from time to time that everything is ok.
      JBL LSR305 and Presonus Eris E5 would be my top choice.
      JBL because they sound amazing even in an untreated room.
      E5 if you need to place them very close to the back wall.
      I'm not against Presonus 4.5 or Yamaha HS5 but depending on what you need them for, most of the time you end up wanting a subwoofer to cover what they lack in low end and is more of a problem than a fix in a small and/or untreated room.
      So don't cheap out on your mains and wait until you can get what you need because you are going to have them for a long time.
      If you don't already have, a pair of good headphones would be also great. A cheap but very good is Audio-Technica ATH-M40. You can even go for a used pair, change the pads (order from AliExpress) and that's it.

      Well to be fair, they're small -- the treble is going to sound somewhat accentuated in a side-by-side comparison with something this much bigger. The filmmaker might be right that the prices have somewhat converged on these two, but the intended applications haven't, and without an external sub connected to the Edifiers, it seems to me that their ability to keep up with the JBLs at all -- even somewhat -- is kind of remarkable.
