Of course your product Is Better and the quality Is totally different. But not everybody can spent 10.000 for a pergola. Sometime it's needed a compromise. It's like compare Ferrari (your product ) with a FIAT (popular economic car here in Italy) . Obviously i prefer a good quality pergola but the face Is that not everybody can't afford It. P.s. There are always compromises on products. On this, I planned to show what the differential is to help explain where the cost of both units come from. The Mirador product is popular for a reason, but we hoped to explain the compromises more succinctly to help provide some of the information that can be glossed over, like how the louvers need to be removed over 62 mph wind loads or in snow.
@@theluxurypergola infact It was a really good interesting video that give to the watcher, the point of view of a professional pergola producer like you with interesting info and compare like thickess...only from the thickness different that youn show, we can appreciate and Imagine why there'is a cost different. @@RalphRaphaelPhotogThis is such a weak take. Go ahead and buy the $2500, 1mm extruded pergola that might last you 5 years (excluding potential wind/snow damage). Meanwhile the $10k, 3mm will still be good as new in 20 years and actually survive storms. I guess it makes sense for house flippers, but not anyone investing in their property long term.
The good the bad and the ugly. There is a huge price gap from 1.4 mm to 3 mm aluminum thickness. I was quoting a 10' x 20' pergola here in the States with 6" x 6" x 3mm posts and 11" x 4" x 2.5 mm beams and the cost was impossible. Near 18K. Of course you can't compare 2.9K vs 18K. It's a huge gap.
Looks to me like you are comparing commercial vs residential grade pergolas.. not everyone can afford a higher cost system so that chinesium pergola works just fine for many.
Good detailed review of the Mirador Pergola. Appreciated the time you took to do so. Do you have a similar review coming up for Hanso or Bon Pergola or Pergolux also? It would be great to understand how they stack up against Mirador and your own pergola.
Price will always be a concern. Consumers who opt for the cheaper version will have to deal with additional maintenance, repair and possibly replacement of the unit. No diff than going for cedar vs composite decking. Thanks for showing costo quality pergola for comparison.
Good video. Would be nice to see your product side by side and then note the differences so everyone can get a good visual. Also, is their product offering dimensionally (height/width/length) the same as yours?
That’s a great idea. We’ve got them here so that can be done. This unit is 10x13. We offer the same size. Theirs is shorter. About 8’ to the top. Ours is 9’ which we can address in the side by side video
Basically, if price wasn’t a factor, I would definitely get the premium product. The warranty alone is solid 15 years! Compared to Costco one year and get what you pay for basically. But most average folks don’t have that kind of money. So you compromise. I think they could probably build one maybe a less warranty that it’s better than Costco but somewhere in the middle then I would buy it if have them install it.
That’s why we have the all new Haven product. Which you can find here: theluxurypergola.com/products/haven-adjustable-aluminum-pergola-kit A nice middle ground.
@@theluxurypergola Thanks! i was looking at the 10x20 $11,500 is the sale price! Still out of our price point. I love those adjustable louvers and all-aluminum no maintenance. The most bang for your buck is Yardistary Cedarwood 12 X 20 $3299.99 should last if you treat the wood.
Just remember any structure that is designed to be a roof system with a load or wind requirement has to be permitted by your local building department. This will require engineering with wet stamp, proper in ground support structure per code to hold cover in place and several inspections from building authorities. The Costco structure although functional out of the box, will probably fail in time if not from it's inadequate design and material, but from the recurring natural events which take a toll on everything over time. You are best to spend your money the for a louver cover that exceeds code requirements and is built by professional installers. Take if from a person who has installed thousands of louver covers in the Western USA, the Costco Louver Cover does not meet any engineering requirements in the USA and is a waste of money.
Thank you for the great research. I have a wooden pergola (11 x 15) with two support posts and the opposite side attached to L-brackets to my roof. The pergola roof has 2 by 2 slats separated 2-inches. Do you have a replacement for this type of design so we don't have to deal with posts on the house side?

hi, I have that Mirador pergola, 10x20, it has 2 mechanical opener on each side and now one year later one of the roof can not be open , do you know how to fix this?

Hello! Pavers are installed as stone resting on gravel/sand, so it won't provide any structual strength to wind or snowloads. You can reach out to us and we can talk through how to get concrete in that area to allow you to attach the pergola to something with some structure.
How much would you charge in June 2023 for a louvered pergola in the same foot print but to your specs? Just parts and then the labor to assemble. Want to see if I can afford one instead of a cheap(er) pre-made one.
Thanks for reaching out. We'd have to understand your project more fully. Please give us a call at 317-597-2545. We would love to discuss the project with you.
Good question. We haven't seen one in person. From what we can tell, it looks like it's made of sheet steel that's been powder coated. That means it will rust given time. Downsides will be that it doesn't keep water out, water sits on top of the fabric if it has the fabric and can cave in, and the way it anchors down looks like it won't handle racking wind load very well. Seems like most of the powder coated steel products for around $2,000 at Home Depot or Lowes. Large widths look like they're spliced on the header as well, which instantly reduces span strength. Cheaper to ship, but hurts load capacity, which is why we don't do that.

An easy 700% more in cost compared to the Costco one… at least!
$3K vs. $12K.
The mirador 80s, which is 10'x10' can now be bought for just under $1k. This luxury one is $11k for that size. And I need 3. So 3k vs 33K.

$1900 @ Costco; $1500 @ Amazon. Doesn't seem so bad for $1500, but certainly not what I'd install at a $1mil+ house, so there's that...
