    What are your thoughts on the Hansø version?

    • @htm26
      @htm26 11 місяців тому

      The Hansø pergolas (and many other "Scandinavian Designed" pergolas like PergoLux or Purple Leaf) are a Chinese product named a Starry pergola. The company just drop ships these out of China and to your door. If you're looking for that quality product, just buy a Mirador and pocket the extra $2,000+ or buy something from Luxury Pergola. Hansø just takes all that extra margin for doing nothing and throws it into marketing, which is why you see them as Ads on Google. 8 months ago, Hansø sold their product for $9,000 and my neighbor bought one. He wasn't pleased when he watched this video and saw what he was really getting. I bought one of these Luxury Pergolas from this family a few months back. Absolutely rock solid. I was surprised when I was unloading the truck. 1,800 lbs sounds like a lot, but when its 9 feet over your head, it's even more impressive. It's a $30-50k product from Struxure for 1/3 of the price.

      @@IllusiveMan343 it seems so. I'd research a Starry Pergola. From what we've been told by a prior customer, this is what is being sold but with a markup and some marketing. They send out the Starry install manual with their pergola. That plus the look of the Starry product is how we're under the impression that is the product under a different brand name. I'd look to Home Depot.

      @@IllusiveMan343 Good question. I answer it in this video. That Starry product is in category 1 of the video. Ours is in Category #3, Weight and load resistance and durability over time. For example, that product weighs about 350 lbs when ours is 1,800 lbs for the same size unit. The video should explain the rest! Give us a call too if you have questions

    This is an absolutely awesome video, with just an insane amount of information. Should have a zillion likes. Thanks a lot for making it. I've been pergola shopping on and off for years, and I've found the whole space really opaque. You 10x'ed by knowledge in 9 minutes. (Also, as someone with a sorrara pergola that toppled in the wind and is now scrap metal... yes, the wind resistance leaves something to be desired.)

    Hmm. I'm looking to install an outdoor kitchen using a pergola. We're in the Chicago suburbs. Ideally, it would have shelter from winter colds, rain, maintenance-free, and ideally, I could cook year round on the patio. And of course, it would need to survive 4 seasons in Chicago. Interested in learning about our options.

    Sealed bearings don't fail very often from this type of application. Sealed bearings are used in bicycle bottom brackets and last hundreds of thousands of revolutions in the hardest of environments. And if they do fail. they are very cheap to replace. They can also be serviced (but it's usually cheaper to just replace them. I assume you are an engineer and probably know all of this but are marketing the fact that you don't use sealed bearings.

    • @theluxurypergola
      @theluxurypergola  Рік тому +1

      That is true on revolutions. The concern with this application is the fact that it is exposed to the elements year round. Consistent exposure to freeze and thaw as well as salt air present the largest concerns and problems with these sealed bearings as they will be inert and exposed.
      While they can be replaced. The hassle and cost of calling a contractor to replace 50-100 of these specifically made bearings frequently would be a question for the homeowner.

    Sounds like I will need to spend at least $10 - 15 K for about 12ft x 15ft louvered system. Is that right? If so WOW, that is a lot of money, even more than the cost of my deck.

    • @theluxurypergola
      @theluxurypergola  Рік тому +1

      That is correct for our version. obviously double for an installed version. They typically can cost more than a deck just because of the materials. Wood and Plastics (like composite decks) are relatively cheap to produce. Aluminum mined, melted, extruded into a specific shape, powder coated and then cut to size adds to the material cost. Hopefully I explained that in the video. Not the right product for everyone by any means, but certainly 1,500 lbs of aluminum costs us quite a bit.

    Product looks awesome! How do the materials differ from a 4k aluminum pergola?

    • @theluxurypergola
      @theluxurypergola  6 місяців тому

      There are several differences. The largest has to do with where it is manufactured and the thickness of the aluminum, which is a factor of longevity. Most pergolas that can withstand normal weather in the USA need to be about 800lbs minimum and anchored with thick steel base plates to be able to handle snow and wind. Most of those pergolas are 350lbs with base plate connections that are holding on by just the withdrawal load of the screws in the posts. Ours is a commerically rated product, typically sold for about $30,000-$50,000 just direct to consumer. If you give us a call we can give more insight!

      We have heard of Renson. The product seems to fit the classic european design for this aluminum pergola category, which means the posts have seams that run the length of the pergola. I don't know much of the strength outside of the aesthetics though, so I can't speak to that.

      Make sure you use the value for "ASCE 7-10, Risk Category II".
