Thank you for pointing out where we should feel the effect of the sound, it really confirms whether I am doing the exercise correctly.

I've been watching this one over and over, learning so much from you! I actually am finding some vibrato by doing this exercise. Something I've never been able to do. THANK YOU!

It's always wild to me to hear when coaches say to have nasality, while my SLS coach always wanted me to delete any nasality from my voice!

This was actually really helpful, so thankyou. I had mixed voice, but not quite how I wanted it, but its the tilt that was missing with keeping the Larynx down. You can actually feel the tilt happen and lean into it, very very useful.

This is very helpful man. Thank you so much. Those high notes really sounds like 80's metal. Since you've been mentioned dont stop believing, how about a video break down on how to sing the first part to the chorus? =)

Hey there! Love this video, I normally never comment, but I decided to do it in hope you will see it. I’ve been trying to find any kind of video of jessie j song nobody’s perfect and the high notes she reaches so effortlessly are just a mystery to me, and there is none! I think everybody makes this same kind of content with exercises but they never seem to show it in praxis (aka songs). If you could explain if she is using mixed voice or chest voice , I have s gig soon with that song and I would be more than grateful if you could help me! Thank you in advance:)

My larynx position is good but I feel like I'm using a lot of muscles in my throat and idk if that's right or not. It's not a straining feeling and it's not bothersome it just feels like I'm using muscles I've never engaged before.

Hi Sterling...great video and great explanations. I'm following the exercises but am having difficulty with the "ng" (the second one with the nasal emphasis) exercise. I can't seem to get a clear tone when i go up. I'm using the same technique and shedding weight, but the tone is breaking up. Could just be a matter of repetition but i don't seem to have the same issue on the first exercise ("eeeee" to "ooooo").
    Any advice?

Most certainly repetition. I couldn’t do this stuff at first at all. And I mean at all. It took throwing myself at exercises like this over and over everyday for months. Once I figured it out, I wasn’t sure I did and it didn’t sound great. Keep working it 😊

Probably keep working on the exercises.
If you're talking about cracking while you're talking, the exercises might help as well with that.

Would you have any pointers about taking these sounds and adding words abit more please? I've got the sounds but struggle to add the agility of sounds you get in a lower register for words and stuff

I have been a decent singer but always had to flip my voice. This is the first video. After watching hours of other videos that made sense, I want to thank you personally. This video finally allowed me to understand the different muscles needed to sing mixed voice. I've been making stupid character voices since I was a kid who knew I already had those muscles all exercised. Thank you a million times over for this video!
The crazy thing is you explained this so well. I actually had this on in the background while I was working and unable to sing, but thanks to you, I knew the second I got in my car, I could do it, and I did! Now, I need to work on all the bad habits I have built up. I really can't thank you enough.

Lately I saw another thread of student singers obsessed with Baritone/Tenor labels. That is something intirely from Classical CVT . It is true the break for a high baritone is different for a real tenor who can sing range easily, yet a baritone is going to modify and achieve that range in a different way it won't be the same, yet to the average listener they probably can't tell.
    Many people talk about falsetto
But they mean Heavy mix , it is mostly chest , and there is no magic, you have to do exercises of singing full voice on Bb B4 and C5, it has to be there before you can mix it .
A real classical bass baritone has a shockingly low resonance like a tuba or bassoon , a high baritone can not hit those Old Man River notes , and Bass probably wouldn't want to function as a tenor...lol
