    I watched a lot of Federer's footage, especially on the forehand side, super slow motion. I can only follow until his take back, after that, it seems like magic due to the way he turns his torso and gets the wrist lagged. These videos open my eyes

    Once again, great video fellas. My forehand is very arm dominant due to bad habits. This has generally caused my forehands to lack consistent depth, pace and spin, and hitting arm forehands is fatiguing. This series is definitely going to help me recruit the larger muscles to hit more effortless and powerful forehands. Looking forward to seeing more content. Btw, glad Dayday kept the hair "untamed".

    I think "athletic height" has more to do with hitting height with optimal body leverage, so that the plane of rotation includes the ball and your center of mass at contact. This all depends, of course, on the height of the ball at contact: the lower the ball, the deeper the knee bend, and the higher the ball, the more "jump" into the stroke.

    Great video,!! Many thanks. Hips don't do the rotation you describe, not sure what does the rotation you describe, probably the trunk or waist. The hip does rotate but it rotates the leg , and there is very little force that can be generated with pure hip rotation. If you lift your leg and then internally or externally rotate the leg, that gives a sense of what hip rotation is and how little power that has. I doubt whether any hip rotation is involved. I have been listening to everyone talk about hip rotation in this context but its not at all accurate,

      That's a great way to visualize your forehand. The leg drive, while not always necessary (or optimal) to use, for your basic drive forehand, pushing the ground and rotating forward by focusing on your upper body as we'll cover the next video of this series is a sure way to developing a solid forehand. Thanks for watching Jose! 🎾

    • @RacquetFlex
      @RacquetFlex  5 років тому

      Hi Hong! It is indeed hard to generate power when a ball is coming at you with a lot of speed. This would be a perfect situation to redirect your opponent's pace.

    • @Naomi-gr7fm
      @Naomi-gr7fm 4 роки тому

      If they lack power and you're having issues, your timing is most likely off. Simply focusing on "bounce-hit" to have a smooth rhythm usually helps whether the shot is fast or slow. You stop thinking about body parts and technique and naturally hit your stroke.

      While I do agree with you, we do generate power when we keep at least one foot on the ground and keep leaning forward. But I don't really see him leaning forward on his video. I don't know if he's saying that's a right move or not because I'm deaf.
      Tbh, I really dislike his forehand posture @0:25 or @0:55 or even @2:05 . Only liked the one @1:20 which is exactly (IMO) how you generate the most power. Also liked @1:36 This guy knows how to hit it hard.

    Saying your forehand technique is a way to generate effortless power is absolutely ridiculous. The amount of wasted energy put into those leaping forehands huge. What average human could put that effort into each shot for entire tennis match. Not even the super fit athelete Rafa uses such an extreme method. And the joke is you are calling it Effortless Power.
