I liked this - UA-cam keeps praising shorts by single artists without realising how expensive they would be to complete. With ~20 people in the credits this is a good 2 minute short from a small team. It also shows how much work is needed to avoid the things that *are* reused being too noticeable - the whole structure of this short is justifying the repetition of the same sequence, but at least we can't immediately tell that it's really only 20s of animation.
Remember to get the proposal written down and signed by all parties before you start. If they say not to do something in the original discussion, write that down too so they can't backtrack later.
If he had asked the client more questions from the beginning he would have done the last lance first! Simple, sweet, to the point and beautiful animated. Thanks for sharing.
i think the final dragon kind of shows the client changing his mind after accepting the work done was right. A lot of freelancers have had clients like this. I had one accept the work, say it was perfect, profit from it and then try to say it was wrong and not pay. Being in a union helps ;)

Aside from the great technical execution and all the little details and new gags you find on every rewatch, I love how it's been simplified to the most minimal version of the story. The planimetric composition in conjunction with 180 degree rule works so well for this and must have saved lots of time too. The storytelling without spoken dialogue makes it accessible to everyone. Even not showing the dragons just adds to the gag and leaves the challenges of the Freelance obscured from the viewer and the King. So well done and so clever
