  • After receiving both of these knives I headed up to the Uinta mountains with my brother for a weekend of chopping wood and cooking food. Both knives performed better than I expected. The Flissa 9 was extremely sharp right out of the box with a proper scandi grind. I could baton through logs with ease, whip out a feather stick in minutes and strike a ferro rod with it’s sharp spine. The Haltbar blew me away with it’s simple yet ergonomic design. The comfort level with the Haltbar meant no blisters with all day use. It was incredibly easy to make precise cuts and split wood with the flat grind. Both of these knives are highly recommended for anyone getting into bushcraft.

Dude the Haltbar is outstanding. I bought 2 so far, I think a third will be with me soon. Cheap enough to have as spares and stash everywhere. I love them

The Haltbar is my second Swisstech knife. I also have the Wurdig. Both knives are great for their price. I will be checking out a few more Swisstech knives and the hatchet. Thanks for watching!

Great video, brother. I bought the Flissa and liked it so much after using it on a few outings (and processing a deer) that I bought one for my son and one for my dad. It is their favorite knife as well!

I added some burlap micarta scales and made a better sheath for it because I do leatherwork and the one that came with it is crap.

It could use a better sheath. I use to do a bunch of leather work years ago. I still have the tools. Maybe I’ll make one and put up a video.

right on. The Haltbar is probably my next purchase. I went to a gun show yesterday and bought 4 Old Hickory knives, one sticker (which is apparently discontinued), 2 7 inch butcher knives, and a grape knife. They are out of stock everywhere online because people are buying them to use as affordable bushcraft knives. Cheap is definitely cool now days

That would be excellent. I look for opportunities to learn from other people.

Always test those handle screws and make sure they've not glued threads, I got a Gerber Freeman that when it was time to change the handle scales because of melting rubber, the screws were locktited in and the handle had to be cut off, I used one of those little 5/16" thick bamboo cutting boards from the dollar store to make the new scale handles , turned out perfect after I finished them with some satin poly coat.

I use threadlock on most knife screws, but I just use a small dab. Some knife companies use way too much though. I’ve had that same problem with getting handles off. I haven’t checked these handles yet.

I would call them budget knives but not entry level ones. They are actually very good knives. Imagine having these in 80s or 90s lol.

We had to spend $100 to have a knife as good as these in the 90s. And I still have some of those old knives. The Haltbar is a step above the Flissa. I should remake the video now that I’ve been using them for several months. Thanks for watching

After using both knives, which would be your pick if you could only have one?

The Haltbar. It’s just a little more comfortable in my hand. And the VG10 steel should hold an edge a little better. Even my brother agreed that the Haltbar felt like a higher quality tool.
