Lionsteel is my new favorite fixed blade company. You get TRC quality, fit and finish at an affordable price. I have five of them 😍
Totally they are legit
T6 and M4 are the two I rock for if I go anywhere
I agree...I have the H1, H2, and M2M along with the above T5. Lionsteel is my top company at this point.
@@itywhat6499... I have been looking, but have not seen their 2024 line up yet, have you?
I think there's some disconnect here, either on my side or yours. $250-300 is affordable? What economy are you in? I guess it might be affordable for high end, custom knives but $250 isn't exactly what I think most would define as affordable
The designs, fit, and finish of Lionsteel knives are awesome. I paired the M7 with my Benchmade Bushcrafter which I've carried for years. Otherwise I'd go with either the M4 or M5 as a companion to the M7. You really can't go wrong with any of the Lionsteel knives. Thanks for the rundown on the T6.
I bought one 3 months ago, and very happy with it. It's an awesome knife for sure! Thanks for the review brother 👍🏻
Many of the Lionsteel knives without the coatings cans still throw sparks even with the crowned spine. Just have to tilt the knife a little and hit it just below the crowning. Give it a go and see if you can do it. If it scrapes decent make a short on it. Cause I don't think many are aware of this, since when people see a crowned spine they are thinking fire steel is out of the picture. But with Lionsteel they usually have a angle below the crowning so Firesteel works. If not you always have that butt end, but I would hold the knife still and move the Ferro rod and not the knife, for more control on where the sparks go. Keep up the great work.
I just don’t get the obsession with throwing sparks with a knife. Just attach strikers to your ferro rods. Use the right tool for the right job.
You're one of the best youtubers in the platform, thank you for the awesome and edifying content, God bless
Wow, thank you
I got the M7, love the finger choil that makes the knife more useable, steel is easier to sharpen, put my own polished edge on it, mounted a tek lok and I've turned it into my EDC! Easy to mount a 'kit' altoids tin to it, small flashlight, extra battery, and ferro rod. In other areas I carry a couple folders and a smaller fixed blade (TRC South Pole) for smaller tasks with premium elmax steel.
Holy cow!! Was just looking at these two (M7 & T6). Stoked for the review!!!!
Awesome! Hope it helps
Great video Aaron. As i mentioned i have the T5 , as a proud owner, and last year i got the M7... Surprisingly the M7 was cheapper than T6 , so i purchased it , for a big hitter n chopper, and it is a monster!!!! Maybe one of my best spend money for years!!!
I’m seeing this vid a little late after you posted, but great review on the knife (Lion Steel has some bangers) and this hydration setup was a nice surprise addition of something I really needed. Thanks Aaron!
Great video (as always). I own all three knives and can only confirm your statements. The T6 covers almost all work in the wilderness.
I have the T5 and love it. Recently I got the FOX Ryu and I am very impressed.
bought a T5 on your recommendation, really happy with it
Yes the joy of living in the Rocky Mountain West. I'm up in Wyoming ;)
Awesome!!
They are beautiful blades for sure! Been wanting one for awhile.. I guess it’s that time!
I love all three and use them for different tasks. If you only get one (a disturbing thought) and need a chopper/brute, I'd go with the M7. It's the one that fits a wide range for me and handles so well that other large knives just don't even come close in terms of comfort, ease and balance. I have the small camp/bushcraft knife already dialed in. For me, it's a toss-up between the T5 and a Reiff F4. Life is good! But, if you have a chopper, the T5 is amazing and will serve you well.
If you need a tactical steak knife, get a White River Jackelope. :)
I absolutely love my T6, although I have the Bohler K490 Superclean version. Super tough knife! I also have the B35 and the M5. I really wish they would make a 9” version. I’d be in heaven then!😊
I agree I have the m7 and the T6 they're awesome
@@jeremydarkcountrysteckman9496 I would get the M7 too, but I don’t want the finger choil. I would like an extra inch of sharpened edge instead. Lionsteel is my favorite brand for fixed blades, the handles are great.
@@jonathancupp3686 anything over six inches of blade I want a choil so I can choke up on the blade for carving if you want blades without I suggest the offgrid alpha dog and tracker x
Lionsteel knives are great so are joker knives and they're more affordable
@@jeremydarkcountrysteckman9496 I have the Joker Campero and it’s fit and finish is amazing, but I find the handle too round and it tends to turn in my hand.
The Becker bk2 ....often replicated never duplicated. Great review if I ever up grade it could be this t-6.
Right on 👍
I love the BK series, but the handles are way more ergonomic on the lionsteels than the beckers.
@@michaelcervantez3570
BK did a good job on their Omni handle but there's always escalation. My hands are double X so my hand gets a bit squished between the protrusions on the top and bottom. It's not terrible, but it's noticeable.
I replaced my BK9 with the Condor Moonstalker. Google it, now there's an accommodating handle.
@@michaelcervantez3570 I have to agree with this, I thought the big BKs were made specifically for my hand, until I held the Lionsteel M7.
Hey Aaron. I have the T-7 and the T-6 in K490. I love the design and feel of it, but to be honest, I've never used it. At the moment, I have 30 fixed blades in which I've downsized from 60. I tend to gravitate to other knives for my backcountry excursions. You're absolutely right when you said it fits somewhere in between. Thanks Brother, GB
Nice!!!
Sei bravissimo!Un punto di riferimento per i test delle migliori lame sul mercato
G'day Aaron, what I especially like is the 3 different designs and steels for each size. Personally I'd go with the 7 for a day hike or overnighter, paired with a 4 incher of some description and leaving a hatchet or machete behind. And the 5 or 6 deeper into the wilderness paired with a said hatchet or machete. In either case a saw will come along too.
I reckon the further out you go, the more prepared you need to be with a larger primary and a proportionately competent back up, regardless of weight.
These aint particularly inexpensive, but all things considered fair enough I'd say.
Thanks for the vid mate, I really enjoyed the look in use and comparison across the range. Cheers Duke.
I just purchased the Kizer Begleiter (fixed blade) because it was a great knife for the price point at the time, but I'm looking to get something bigger as well, I was leaning towards the ESEE 6, I'd be using it more for being able to chop/split wood, clear a path, but also have other uses than just getting a machete or other 10"+blade, I'd like it to be nice to carry around.
I have a Kur and a B35 for EDC, and the T5 (Camp Knife) and M7 (Survival Knife). Thanks very much for this review! The T6 is tempting for the steel, but I agree - the T5 and M7 are always going to be better choices, particularly for the price. BTW, I don't think the T6 is as good-looking; in fact, I kinda assumed it wasn't a Molletta, but it looks like I was wrong on that.
Very interested to see the Architect Knives line. The 4.5, to me, looks like wnat the esee 4 should have been the whole time.
did you see them in this video?
I’ve been impressed by the the T5...good to know the price has come down on the T6, ya got me looking again...lol
I recently got a T5 after months of research; dude, what an incredible knife. I think I've spent a total of one hour batoning with it, with only about 10 minutes of stropping, and I swear it's better than new. I don't know how Lionsteel flew under my radar for so long, but I will almost certainly get a T6 soon.
Very cool and glad to hear it!
I'd love for the T5 to come in 3V with a convex grind and a kydex sheath. That would be perfect.
Preach bro. This would elevate the T5 above anything out there.
Could've purchased it 4 years ago, but inflation is crushing some of us.
I feel you bro. Hopefully we all see some relief after November. Hang in there.
@gideonstactical Hey mate =) Thankyou for the video. I am wondering as someone who has used the Esse 6 2020 handled knife, is this T6 knife a better survival knife? Especially for larger hands? Is it possible to do a comparison please?
Yes blows it out of the water
Awesome video and blade. Deep voice was funny 😂😂😂
Another great insightful review
As I've mentioned before, going camping I'm a Nessmuk Trio guy (though now more often with a kukri instead of an axe or tomahawk). But for something unplanned, the T6 would be perfect to put with other gear I keep in my truck or toolbox alongside my backup skinner. Great emergency option and then I can hand down the ESEE to my daughter. The handle is a better fit for her hands than a man's. And I've entirely ditched 1095 anyway.
Yes, I really use 1095 and when I do it’s on my Junglas. Or if I am testing a knife blade
I own a lot a very good knives , But if I could only have 2 fixed blades it would be my Lion Steel T6 and M5 in cpm 3v.
Very cool
Another thorough review. Interesting that you place this higher than a ZT. Duely noted! I think it's time to ask you for a top choice survival video soon. You're backpacking for one week, one knife! 👊
The ZT is a combat knife first, but excellent in the outdoors too. This knife will easily outclass it in chopping as well as in overall ergonomics.
The T6 is a great knife, everything on this knife is very good, even the kydex sheath. I own the T6 in K490 steel (limited edition) it's simply amazing. In my opinion a worthy big brother for the T5.
At the moment i dont see any better production made knife that is better than t6 in the same price range. Its just done well and and not overpriced.
I believe this will be the next lionsteel I get. Love ❤ the review brother
Great video buddy
Love, love, love my T5...almost enough to sleep with it (of course my wife would get jealous). Of the other 2 knives, since I have the T5, I would go with the M7 or continue carrying my hatchet. Anyway, as usual, an excellent vid...Thank you for all you do.
Right on 👍
I saw same knife online but with different steel: LionSteel T6 CVN 5.83" K490 Limited. How does this steel compare to CPM 3V?
Good review Aaron
I always Loved the bigger chopper style blades until I bought a Lionsteel T5 and then the M5 and finally the M4 in M390 , LionSteel has some Awesome Blades at Great Prices and now Im kinda getting into the smaller blades , Aron you gotta try the M4 its Awesome and I'd love to hear what you think about it , Great Video , see you on the next one .... 👍🖖
Love mine. The T5 &6. Have you seen the new kc-01 ??
Lionsteel products are for me the best choice on the market right now
I had both of them
The handle ergonomics on T6 its better then the one on T5…in my opinion
After 20 min of working with the T5 my hand was tired and was not fun anymore
With the T6 have not such a problem
Wayyy more comfortable
So i sent the T5 back
Thx Aaron for the great review
Keep it going 💪😎
I got my part on it. Lot's of guys here in It, got part on it. Everything start with the italian knves forum MCKF, owned by Molletta. All started there. 2005.
T5 in cpm3v and kydex.
I want to see the T5 in 3v as well + convex grind.
Hello. Would you like to try Saturn Knives? These are other knives I designed for a new company with Lionsteel collaboration.
Awesome video Aaron. And thanks for the shout out to Joe X. Means a lot to see you standing with other knife/ tool content creators.
Totally we are all a community here and have to work together.
You need to get a KC-01 and compare. Seems to me the perfect combination of the T6 and M7. I just got mine today and loving it already.
I gotta get me one of those!
I own the M4 in M390, but 3V is the BEST survival steel. I have a Bark River Bravo1 in 3V and its a beast! I will buy and definitely use over the other two.
Lionsteel forever! ❤
Can anyone tell me about the coating on Lion Steel
Classy callout to JoeX.👏
Nice blades !
I love beefy knives ❤️
I own all 3! Love them all!
Great review! Love Lionsteel…have 6 in difference versions. How do theses stack up against Ursus 45 in 3V? Thanks!
Good question! The Ursus is awesome and closest to the T5. The T5 is more aggressive a little thinker and $80 cheaper. The Ursus is better for camping and bushcraft the T5 is a better all arounder or battle belt
@@gideonstactical awesome! I believe I bought the Ursus after watching your review and if I remember right you really liked the sheath? Also how do these knives stack against the Joker 5? Apparently I am buying too many knives? 🔪⚔️
What kind of carabineer is that on your mat ?
I love my M7 and M4. Haven’t pulled the trigger yet on the T5 or T6.
Get the M5, much better complement than the T5
They look like nice knives.
Ya, these are truly excellent, would love to see some lionsteel on your channel 👍
Every time i have the t6, m2 and m3 in my hand i smile. M4 nice but love the m2 more in that size
Aaron, you obviously like the Lionsteel. You have also previously raved about the Ursus 45. How about a video with a comparison to see which comes out on top.
Coming soon!
Aaron, have you ever seen the water filtration system "Guzzle H2O"? It's something you'd keep at your base camp or car, but it's about the size of a small brief case.
I checked it out crazy!
What are your thoughts on the raven by toor knives? Or just toor knives as a whole?
I haven’t tried any yet
I might give this company a try 🤔.
Hey G. You should get your hands on the WTG Wolverine or Mt Lion.
The t6 was more expensive before due to being in k490 when it came out. Those versions sold out and never saw them restocked. The 3V versions seem to replace them.
the K490 was limited version. 999 pieces were produced
@@renexwing1546 now I double regret not buying it
Please review the Fox FX-140XL MB. Has Nilox steel too and is Italian, and has a very similar design to the TRC Apocalypse.
Awesome knife, well worth a review to get some love on UA-cam!
I hate the big finger choil on the M7. I wish they would make a T7.
Any chance of a comparison between this and the Reiff F6?
I would take this knife instead mainly because of the handle ergonomics and weight are better for chopping
Whire river ursus 45 vs this one ? Looks like a very good head to head video
love to watch your testing
Thanks so much!
Cool knife. Would be a good camp knife I think.
Really good in those situations
I love this lionsteel . I’m so bored with my bushcraft black .
3V is awesome steel i even tried to patina it in vinegar and didn't faze it
Ya very stain resistant 👍
I want to get one of these but in the k490 version, not 3V.
Not sure if that version will ever be made again. Half to go secondary market
@@gideonstactical Yeah, but that steel sounds awesome. Plus as a knife/steel collector it would be cool to have.
Not sure how well Lion steel did the HT on it and I would have liked to try it in a smaller fixed blade. Would love to see more companies use it. There's other cool steels out there like k340 (I like it) and k360 which would make good choices for that size of fixed blade.
Hi Arron what gloves are you wearing in the video?
The M7 has been on my 'to buy' list for a couple of years. I just can't spend the money on it considering it isn't giving me anything more than knives I already own. Saying that the T6 might be a better option.
I got all three!
Havent looked at all your videos, but have you looked into carothers performance knives?
I will check it out
THANKS: GREAT INSIGHTS... DON'T LIKE THE 7, BUT LIKE THE T6 (BLADE IS JUST RIGHT, GREAT KNIFE, BUT FOR THE TOO LARGE A GRIP, I FEEL)
I scored one of these at this year's Blade Show in Atlanta. I love this knife. My only gripe is also the lack of a 90 degree spine, but the butt of the knife is usable on a ferro rod. Besides, which of us watching this channel carries only ONE knife? LOL
Totally you never carry just one knife. Hope you enjoy your new blade. It’s a workhorse and a beast.
@@gideonstactical to steal a line from you, "it ticks all my boxes" ... Not too big, not too small, 3V (which I LOVE), GREAT sheath, feels awesome in the hand. Were you at Blade this year? Would love to have shook your hand, even though you have cost me a ton of money from watching your reviews... LOL 😉
I finally moved on from the whole idea of using the spine (or any part of the knife) on a ferro rod. I don't know why it became such a normal thing to do. I always have a scraper with me now plus a spare, they weigh nothing after all. They're so much more efficient and accurate to use, so you can remove less of the material. And smooth spines are so much nicer on a knife!
Lionsteel are great
The Lionsteel T6 in CPM 3V is The Best!!!
I do not see it worth 3x over in cost vs a Joker 6.5 Nomad or Cudeman 299B both in Böhler N695. What am I missing?
N695 is a cheaper and less tough steel .
@@johnmuthan286 I will take three vs the marginal one
The Hogue efx01 is something you should test out. You won't be dissapointed!
Nice! I will have to look at that
I just came back from 2 months backpacking the rural areas of Thailand and I only had a Mora 546. So what is a 'survival' knife.
the one you always have on you which will probably be something small and easy to carry.
@@LXT43 I fully agree.
Try the new Lionsteel KC-01 in 3V. It's a new model
T5 in 3v + convex would be epic.
Hey brother…. Any thoughts on the T6 vs the KC-01 from Lionsteel?
Haven’t used that one yet.
KC-01 is a very limited version (only 300 will be made) and won't come out until may. They're somewhat similar but the kc01 has a shorter hedge due to the finger choil and the blade height is slimmer.
If you're into these style of blades, Lionsteel is also producing a very similar blade than the kc01 but without the finger choil, it under the brand Saturn knives model is the Titano
@@johnmuthan286 I ordered a black micarta KC-01 from Lionsteel yesterday. For me it's a much better looking knife than the T6, or the M7. I like the finger choil too which the T6 is lacking.
I put T 6 as looking like TRC Apocalypse but same use in rotation as Becker BK2.
For me, it’s Lionsteel versus Cold Steel.
I’m thinking: magnum tanto in 3V, or a large Bowie, the 1917 Frontier, Wild West, etc.
Trail master , master hunter. I gave to my mate . Awesome combo . I now carry tops camp creek and the m7 . The tops is a great Skinner as well as a good camp/cooking knife .
Hi Arron, just curious about the Red ring you have on your finger, what is it made from?
Awesome knives by the way😊
It’s just simple silicon ring. Reminds me of my first love Christ 👍
@@gideonstactical lol I thought it might be a bit of Red coral.
Good to have something to remind us of our relationship to Jesus,
Amen brother.,❤️ from NZ.
If you can find one!
Do you ever do tactical fixed blades?
Totally
Nope! I'll stick to my Cold Steel Trail Master (San Mai III)! For the more fiddly tasks I'll have better tools for those. [I don't subscribe to the notion of "one tool option" - that's just silly.]
Good looking blade though.
Cheers mate!
I’d like a t-5
Try The Lionsteel M5 In Cpm 3V
Nice
I bought the M7 for $7 in a box sale a total steal
Just a thought you have reviwed all types of knives, designs, grinds, why don't you design your own? Im sure some companies would come forward for sure with the expirience you have you can find a connection
Thanks so much, working on some designs 👍
@@gideonstactical ok ok great to hear
