This song reached the masses from the Buena Vista Social Club project and I have heard so many variations and versions performed around the world ever since. We decided to create our own version while on a trip recording and filming music in Cuba in 2015. The Legendary Pancho Amat on the Cuban tres along with the incredible piano playing of Roberto Carcasses set the framework for this song, and then once we heard Teté Garcia Caturla sing lead vocals we realized exactly why we do what we do. Playing For Change (PFC) is a movement created to inspire and connect the world through music, born from the shared belief that music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people. The primary focus of PFC is to record and film musicians performing in their natural environments and combine their talents and cultural power in innovative videos called Songs Around The World. Creating these videos motivated PFC to form the Playing For Change Band-a tangible, traveling representation of its mission, featuring musicians met along their journey; and establish the Playing For Change Foundation-a separate 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting music programs for children around the world. Original Buena Vista was envisioned as a collaboration between Cubans and West African Musicians. So happy to see a Kora, and a Griot and a member of Diabate family together with Cuban Music Masters! I had the unbelievable privilege and pleasure of being in Bamako for Ali Farka's memorial in 2016 and shaking Mr. Toumani's Senior, Farka's family members and Mr. Amadou's hand, I will never forget that experience. One of the tools i use to learn spanish is songs. And when i heard this at the first time it went directly into my heart. And i searched the story behind it.
It relates the story of man and woman, who are building a house and go to the beach to get some sand. Chan chan collects the sand and put it on the sieve and juanica shakes it making CC embarrassed 😅.

This version of Chan Chan in my opinion is magical and magnificent. I just came across and I admire this delicate musical soulmates from around the world. I wish I was part of it, but at least it reached my heart. I listen to Compay Segundo music nearly every day. It brings memories to my visits to Cuba and Cuban people I love. One of my favourite music and place to visit. Thank you always.

@@DavidMFChapman Is this a serious comment ? All these people are obviously not recorded at the same time !! The PFC crew travels to these places and doesn't pretend this is being recorded everywhere at the same time:)... There are no overdubs but yes sometimes multiple takes like for any recording session...
