Playing For Change (PFC) is a movement created to inspire and connect the world through music, born from the shared belief that music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people. The primary focus of PFC is to record and film musicians performing in their natural environments and combine their talents and cultural power in innovative videos called Songs Around The World. Creating these videos motivated PFC to form the Playing For Change Band-a tangible, traveling representation of its mission, featuring musicians met along their journey; and establish the Playing For Change Foundation-a separate 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to building music and art schools for children around the world. Through these efforts, Playing For Change aims to create hope and inspiration for the future of our planet.

...and nine years later a man in cold rainy England has a huge smile on his face after discovering this wonderful arrangement of a classic song ❤
nice comment, i knew the song, but this version never, i have also discovered it last month :) god bless you all !
Because dear brother, you have the heart that understands the connection and love of Guantanamera. Let YOUR HEART SING!😊
Greetings your way from rural Southwest Texas, my friend
another man in rainy cold England enjoying the remake of this classic :) nice one mate
And another bloke freezing in Blighty.
I’m American and speak no Spanish. But the subtitles allowed me to read the translation and their beauty brought me to tears. Absolutely beautiful.
Don't even have to understand the language, the music speaks itself of LOVE and BEAUTY!
Greetings from Budapest! This is my favourite Cuban song. We used to sing it in elementary school...
I love the Cuban People. They are hard working, devoted to God and very family oriented. That’s coming from a gringo that grew up in Dade. I forgot to mention that their food is excellent.
Amen brotha!!!! Really we are all husbands- wives- boyfriend’s girlfriends- mothers or fathers- just all the same at the end of the day same love.
Thank you! I’m Cuban and not to brag but I agree ☺️ Cuba isn’t mentioned a lot here in Florida and whenever someone mentions it,it makes me super happy :)

I am in the hills of south Wales and can't help returning to this video. I went to Cuba about seven years ago and left with the unshakeable memory of the incredible spirit of the Cuban people, a spirit that is perfectly summed up in this wonderful rendering of 'Cuba's Song'. I must get back there before my time is up. Viva Cuba!
I checked into a hotel in Havana - and as I entered the bar an old man and woman were playing this. What a welcome - 35 years ago. !
I'm listening everyday. I like &love this beautiful song.
One of my dad's favorites still makes me cry. Music for the soul.
Yes, same for me, it was one of my dad's favorites...now that I know the meaning of the lyrics it's especially powerful!
My mom lived in exile from her homeland of Cuba for 70 years. A couple of days ago this song just kept coming in my head and I found this video I have cried and cried and cried watching it and this afternoon my sweet mom passed away. Thank you for the great performance and the love I feel watching it.
Just read this. God bless you and your mom for the life she sacrificed for you and your heart you have
Absolutely. RIP Mama!
I hope that God has a good place near Him for your mother, Mercedes.
This is a great video,
55, year's ago almost, in London, a young man, sang this to me, It was a love song I thought, and I was too shy, and too afraid to tell him I wanted to be friends, I never realized how famous this song was,
I wish I had stayed with him
Dios te bendiga a ti y a tu difunta madre.
Absolutely LOVE This‼️♥️
Hello from South Africa in 2024 🇿🇦 🇿🇦 🇿🇦
I’m not even Cuban. I’m just some Vietnamese guy from LA. Yet, I love this song. 🇨🇺
You can be from mars enjoy sir.
👍👍👍👍👍
This song is the kind that belongs to everyone who loves the land and soul of their people...whether their birth people and/or their new people. It’s a truly human song.
Yes I agree. Beautiful . This just a song of inside human freedom instead the slavery status.
Happy Darling Awhe Energzic well
Who wishes they were Cuban listening to this!?
Beautiful people, beautiful land 🥊🎉
Great boxers and wrestlers too!
De un limón salió una riquísima Limonada!❤
My father had a 45 record with this song. It was written in my heart when I was very small and I will always love it. Love to the people in Cuba from South Africa, may the change come which you are longing for.
AMEN ❤✌️
Praying for you Cuba, the world is watching. God Bless!
The diaspora singing and feeling for the motherland, the land "destroyed" by dictators yet also that will pass.
The thumps down are the "people" in defense of the dictators of Cuba. Because this song stand for Cuba.

It was a privilege to visit Cuba last month and to feel the warmth of the people, the passion of their music, and the soul of their food. It is a loving place that handles difficulty with grace and humility.
Imagine if you and I, all us human beings, were as good as our music. What a beautiful world it would be!
Much love from Ethiopia! We love Cuba ❤
Jose Marti was born in January 28 1853 , when he was 17 years old , he was exiled from Cuba, by the Spanish government, for being active in the Cuban librarition movement . He came back to Cuba in 1894 at age 42 , and started frighting for Cuba independent. He was the greatest writer in the Spanish language. He wrote over 70 books , poetrys , his last pome was Guatanamera. With in a year he will be killed in a filed uprising. In Guantanamera my favorite verse is , a mountain stream pleased me more then the ocean. Thank you Sarah.
No, José Martí is not the author of Guantanamera.
The Guantanamera was composed by Joseíto Fernández and in it he included some verses from the poetry of "Versos Sencillos" by José Martí. One of the qualities of this great composition by Joseito is the freedom he gave to improvise and harmonize different poetic texts. (ua-cam.com/video/9Hk1y3Gh4KE/v-deo.html) *Original Version with his own lyrics.
@@reimontube75 Yeah, I was wondering about that. I first heard 'Guantanamera' many many years ago and fell in love with the song - to me, it's almost the defacto national anthem for Cuba in the same way that 'Waltzing Matilda' is for my Australian homeland.
You're only partially correct in terms of the history of the song as we know it today. It was Julián Orbón, a Cuban composer from later years, who gave the song a new layer by incorporating some of the poetry ofJosé Martí. In its original form Joseíto Fernández, who was a radio identity in Cuba, used the melody he created to weave in lyrics that reflected current events of the day. The song was so strongly identified with him that he didn't even try filing a copyright for it till many years later.
As for the OP's claim that Marti was the greatest writer in the Spanish language, many would argue the more plausible case for great writers such as Miguel de Cervantes or contemporary authors like Gabriel Garcia Marquez. There's no denying his standing in Cuba culturally, not least his significant role as a martyr for the cause of independence, but claiming he was the greatest writer in the language is stretching things a bit.
Exactly
I visited Cuba…beautiful beaches, land & sky…….but I fell completely in love with its people. Cubans are the most beautiful people I have had the privilege to meet. They live in my heart.

been as well, three years ago. Loved every experience there. Loved! wanna go back.
I am from Kenya, This song makes me travel from one planet to the other..it has magics
An amazing song!!!
'I am a truthful man from the land of the palm trees
And before dying, I want to share these poems of my soul'
Beautiful lyrics
This music helps us to realize that we must never exploit or differences but celebrate our similarities. Peace , love and music. These are our common language.
We can also celebrate our differences. Diversity is wonderful! :)
Soy de Bolivia, pero que cancion❤❤ Viva CUBA LIBRE!!!
As a non Spanish speaker I never realized the depth of this song. Thanks for the subtitles.
Is a poem by José Martí. A poet and freedom fighter from Cuba during its independence.
Am lost for words, Cuban humanity at its best.
As a woman born and raised in Southern California, U.S.A, I am free to say anything I wish... And I wish to proclaim my heart swells and my eyes fill with the tears of joy at the beautiful, proud Cuban people who make music with passion and Love. May we come together over this kind of music, wonderful food, laughter and the joy that lies in our hearts. Salud!

When I was a little girl my late Dad use to play this on the stereo and we use to listen to it and I use to sing along. Even when my parents had parties this song would come out and everyone would sing along. My late Dad was German, my Mum is Dutch and most of their friends and family were both of these nationalities but they all had something in common this beautiful song. Now that I know what the words mean it makes it even better... There is something about Cuban music that is just awesome.
Same here ❤❤❤
It's 2023, I'm here listening to this great masterpiece. I'm from Kenya, in Africa, and I love this song as much.

As a Canadian who visited Cuba for five-years in a row from 1993 to 19997 in our northern wintertime, I must say that this is one of the best versions of Guantanamera that I have come across. In my and my mom and dad's first visit to Varadero in early-winter of 1993 in Varadero we stayed at the Tuxpan Hotel where we got a feel for what is was like to stay and get used to the local environment of a sub-tropical country. Aside from Guantanamera, the most requested song, by my Mom, of course, was Besame Mucho by the four-some who walked around the dining room floor for supper entertaining the guests.
After all these years, I still cannot believe that the USA government has not normalized relations with the Cuban government. Sad story. Viva Cuba!
a hymn to freedom, a hymn to all peoples, a hymn of bravery, courage and encouragement.
humanity has failed.
but songs like this give us hope.
a SAVE to Cuba, from the Brazilian brothers.
Gracias.
Just wonderfull brother man.
The old lady dancing in the beginning of the video is simply pure cuteness. I went to Cuba in 2014 because at that time I lived in Guadeloupe (French West Indies). I can say that in Cuba I met the most kind and warming people, always enjoyed and ready to help in any way they could. ❤❤

I am suffering deep sadness and God sent me this to lift me up. What a beautiful display of unity and love. Thank you. Love is all we need!
Stay strong Lisa. Suffering is just a temporary stage we all experience from time to time. Love is all around us no matter where we look. I´m from England and somehow stumbled upon this beautiful song and video that deeply expresses true love and unity. I sincerely hope your sadness for whatever it may be softens and allow you to shine with what I am sure you possess - a beautiful smile. Bless you.
@@charlesenglish8617 , this kindness you've shown gives me hope. This song and your reply have most sincerely lifted my spirit. Thank you
@@lisawest6533 ...
Dear Lisa,
I am so happy to read that your spirits have been lifted due to this song along with my small contribution. Just remember that you are never alone. Reach out to all your loved ones and friends. Suffering only lingers on when one decides to shut themselves away ´from the world´. Music is a wonderful remedy that does wonders, unfortunately, not a cure or the solution to snap out of a negative state of being.
You used two beautiful words in your message - “Kindness” and “hope”. It´s quite obvious for all to see in both of your messages what a wonderful person you are. Your heart full of gold and being in the right place.
Whenever we sense sadness for whatever reason it may be, we need to know and accept that the past is past and unfortunately cannot rewind time. We need the present to reflect and act upon our current dilemma and find that strength we had in life just before that sadness appeared upon us in order to fight our predicament. We then look at tomorrow as tomorrow is the FUTURE and for ever full of HOPE - your beautifully chosen word.
Tomorrow always starts the day with a clean slate. It bears no memory, negativity, pain or rejection of the past. Just pure beauty starting with the blissful morning air whilst always being reminded by the joyous singing birds of the beauty of life.
I am positive in thinking that tomorrow will be your day, Lisa. Grab it and embrace it with all your might. I send my best regards and wishes your way. You deserve only the best!
GOD has very much to do with this ,thank you LORD.

I am a lifelong musician (keyboards) living in rural Kentucky hills. Playing for Change is the most positive force that I can name. It is the only thing that gives me hope in a unified NON-GLOBALIST world where we are working together in harmony. I am absolutely thrilled and feel ecstatic just listening to several songs. Everyone is so beautiful as is the world portrayed, wherever they may be. This is the best musical experience I have ever had.

beautiful- that is the word
